Yes, I did open and close some views and that's all I did.
-
No, you use the box scale from the layout view, plan view has no label.
-
add a few "light sources" to the plan. They work just like lights but are invisible in the views and you can turn them off in the plan. for the brightness you can turn them down or up in watts or lumens.

Joe, never thought of using a full height, thanks for that little jewel.

Don't know

What are your computer spec's, CPU, video card ?. You can also post the plan and see if someone else is having that problem and check to see what settings you are using.
-
I always use layout labels when possible, of course they are already labeled in my layout template.
-
I never use sleep mode, I just shut down and re-start, might take a little longer but ,That's just what I do and don't see those kinds of problems.
-
Just make sure the stone is the same distance from the main layer in both walls types

first, I copy my template plan and layout to a different folder, or you can just open them and save as and re-link them in the layout. (new folder).I then start to draw the plan as the remodeled plan then when I'm done with the as- built portion ,I simply do an ,as built, save as. There is no need to relink anything doing it that way. Then I continue the remodeled plan with the new stuff. very simple doing it that way. Everything relating to that job always in the same job folder and never have any link problems.

Looks ok to me. this is plot lines also.

I haven't heard of Chief giving any warning about using the SAM, what they said was update to a new profile with every new version. BTW My layers and anno-sets are very simple and I bet anyone could make sense of them. Larry, If I can't make sense of them ,then no one can except yourself. That will hurt you if you need help with a plan. I think this is the point of the thread

I think the reasoning behind it is ,that if a platform height changes , then there will be some kind of framing to fill the gap. They work good for those pesky ceiling and floor fills.
-
This works for the template also. You just need to add it there when it arises, as you think about it. set it up once and done And yes, I do it that way too.
-
Using the S.A.M. method eventually you will have lots of junk in your plan . You will also have lots of useless layers and anno-sets, as you do Larry. I opened one of your plans and couldn't make any sense of it. Cleanup is a must anyway. I just don't want all the extra things to clean up. For me, Templates ,plan and layout is a must. It's very similar to the SAM method but without all the junk. My templates have all the layers and anno-sets and reference sets I need. Sometimes I will add one when needed.

I also get the dim. markers sometimes when I dimension framing in sections. I do have framing checked in the dim. defaults. Dimensioning in sections has gotten better in X8 though.

You cannot copy cameras, wish we could.

I turn off all lights in the plan and use light sources and place lots in every room, as needed ,then turn the display of them off in plan view. They can be adjusted just like standard lighting. You can place them under cabinet top overhangs to light up the dark areas ,or anywhere you want.
-
I'm don't think it's a bug b/c it doesn't happen to me. Did you actually open the layout elevation view and close it again. Are your settings correctly set for each camera. This is new and when bringing plans forward there are new settings to adjust.

Try to turn off your computer and re-start, that fixes a lot when nothing else works. Not sure if you do but some people leave their computer on all the time.

Hard to tell what exactly you are doing, Most details like that are done in a cad detail box and not in the floor plan view. I guess you could just make your lines larger, by weight, to maybe 21 or 25. If you print in color just remember to keep your colors on the dark side. There is a setting in the preferences , Color off is black and white or grayscale, try changing that to get what you want also. I can't check your preferences b/c when I load your plan , my preferences are used and not yours. Are you just using Chief to draw details ?

If you use template layout sheets, you can just delete any pages you don't want in that layout. I have my template layout with all the sheets I will need ,then just delete the ones you don't want. The pages will re-number themselves. If you need to add sheets, right click on the layout page and add a sheet before or after that sheet. Very easy. For the next project you just start with all the sheets in a layout again by using templates.

Could it be your video card? Which one do you have. What version of Chief?

Thanks Joe.
