  1. I didn't have a recovery partition to start with, b/c when I installed an ssd drive, it couldn't copy the recovery partition. As far as the boot sector , I had to enlarge it, that fixed that. I get to 99% and it always reverts back to windows 8.1. At this time I really didn't want to do a clean install b/c it takes me 3 days to do it, and I'm going to get a new computer soon anyway, so it would be a waste of time right now. Thank for the info. your right, Dell refuses to update the drivers on my 5 year old machine, the problem being it still works great. When I purchased it ,paid a lot of money to get top of the line so it would last longer. I guess I learned my lesson. 5 or 6 years was good though.
  2. Not sure what's going on but I never see that, and never use Chief's pdf's. I use Adobe. Chief's built in PDF's also generate huge files as compared to Adobe. Printing to PDF of any brand has also gotten much slower with the X8 release.
  3. Are you using a clean profile plan created for X8, it could make a difference b/c it's new in X8.
  4. It still won't let me upgrade, good luck
  5. You can also just change the material of the top cap to tile and size it to what you need.
  6. I would try to get a job, or side job ,under someone experienced. That's the only fast track of learning, I know of . A lot of times schooling just teaches you a lot of things you really don't need(The long road) unless ,of course, you want to become an licensed Architect, then the schooling is needed. Your contractor boss should enlighten you about construction methods though.
  7. Just change the label, Under "specify label" in the label tab, and include in the schedule
  8. I managed to get them to work except for the ceiling height ,maybe Chief didn't like the way you renamed them for some reason. You have way too many anno-sets for me, couldn't figure it out, and your wall defs are different. I would try a default profile plan especially if you brought forward from a previous version, something is screwed up for sure. STORY POLE PLAN.plan
  9. Best release in many years, X8 really make my job a lot easier and runs very smooth.
  10. A square footage price and or an hourly rate would vary greatly from area to area. There is no rule of thumb you could possibly follow nation wide.
  11. Chief has been testing windows 10 for a while now and says it's good to go.
  12. The overhang of the wall cap in railing walls are removed when you make the top rail to 1/16 and you also uncheck "post to rail", then you can put your p-solid on top if you want
  13. A while back I purchased an SSD, tb size drive, with everything on it, and it made a huge difference for me but It really depends on what you already have. If you have a killer system , you probably won't see as much difference. Mine was getting a little old so it really helped me.
  14. I like to add the floor height and the ceiling height so I can take a quick look and see what they are without having to open up a DBX to check.
  15. If you will be using it for a business, to make money, then get Premier, you'll need it.
  16. Fixed it just playing around, straightened a few things, added another break in the landing and brought it back from the upper floor just a tad. Edit btw your rail walls weren't aligned with the wall below also.
  17. You can use room devider walls to get the different floor heights, the space between the floors should generate automatically.
  18. I purposely do not download all the libs. I just don't want all the junk in the trunk. I will download as I need it ,and always have. So what I'm hearing is, I will have to pay later for not downloading now. Not good.
  19. Sometimes if you back the stairs out a little ( but still be connected) will fix that. The stairs need to be in an exact location. They very easily can move. I usually lock them when they are good to go.
  20. Not a fan ,but we will see where this is headed.
  21. Remember roof planes in that condition should stop at the exterior wall finish ,not the studs.
