  1. This is one I did years ago using a molding polyline with a 3D Symbol Molding for the pickets and 2 x rectangular moldings for the top rails. This way, everything is attached to the one polyline - but, of course it is not a Chief railing. There may be better ways to do this now.
  2. Maybe have a look at Use Special Snapping?
  3. I think you are going around in circles and confusing the Materials library and the general library. Can you confirm wether you are trying to change the panel type or the material? If you are trying to change the material, you will only see the materials in the Core library - you will not see any fences/railings.
  4. I would draw and build it like this. That internal corner is going to be hard to finish as you have it shown.
  5. Or..... Select your wall and save your wall definition to the library. Then use Toolbar Customisation to add a Place Library Object on your toolbar. Point the Place Library Object button to your saved wall definition in the library. Now your wall type is available with one click on your Place library Object toolbar button.
  6. You need to use a multi segment molding polyline that bends 90deg around the corner. It looks like you have used individual molding lines on each side.
  7. You can achieve vertical wall corners in a perspective full overview by setting the camera's Tilt Angle to zero.
  8. Yes, it can be done using a Terrain and a Terrain Hole.
  9. You can import a lot of defaults with Import Default Settings. Open the old plan in X14 and use Import Default Settings, select a plan from which you want to import the default settings from - probably your X14 template plan? Select the defaults you want to use. Any defaults that aren't included using this method (like Wall Types, Layer Sets, Saved Plan Views, etc) can usually be imported as a seperate operation. Have a look in the Help file for Importing Default Settings for more details.
  10. Can you post better images. Those are too hard to see the detail.
  11. I am not sure if this is what you want... If you generate a Perspective or Orthographic Floor Overview, you can use the Up and Down One Floor toolbar buttons to change floors while in the 3D view. The 3D view will display all floors below the current floor, but no floors above the current floor. ie, if you have a 2 storey house with foundation, you can start off by seeing just the foundation (no floors above), Up One Floor will display both the foundation and level 1 (no floors above), Up One Floor will display both foundation, level 1 and level 2 (no roof), Up One Floor will display foundation, level 2, level 2, the attic and roof. Although, from your post, you probably don't want to see the floors below the current one. In which case, you can uncheck Show Lower Floors in the Perspective Floor Overview camera specification dbx (you can also change it in the defaults). Now you can use the Up and Down One Floor buttons to display only one floor at a time in the 3D view without displaying the floors below or above.
  12. Another quick way to make a wall recess is with a Wall Material Region.
  13. Another way to inset the shutters: Place one of the shutters from the library, copy and butt it up against the first one. Group select them and convert them to a symbol, during which you get the option to Show Advanvced Options>Options>Special Placement>Inserts Into Wall>Depth. It dosn't show the cutout in plan though - but easily fixed. Not that you would want to, but you can then change the shape and size of the cutout. This way may not have enough options or flexibility to suit you particular case, I am just throwing it out there on the off-chance it may be useful.
  14. You can't change the ceiling height with the roof settings - can you explain what you are trying to achieve. You can raise a roof plane by locking it's pitch and changing the Baseline Height.
  15. It could be a couple of things but try this first. Preferences>Appearance>Colors>View Colors>Selection Line and Selection Fill. Are these settings the same as your background color? Or better still, post the plan so that we are not guessing.
  16. You have some of the rooms on level 1 specified with a Floor Structure of concrete with zero thickness. Change it to Default - I changed some of them:
  17. Thanks for the video Steve, that is exactly how I did it.
  18. Do you want something like this - all auto? Tip: This starts off by using the "Minimum Alcove Size" setting and then progresses from there.
  19. I haven't explored it fully - I was just playing around, but you may be able to get away with using a Rafter Tail and a negative Extend value. This will enable you to stop the rafters anywhere you like relative to the subfascia and still use auto roofs and auto framing. I just grabbed a simple rectangle from the library in this case - you may need to create a custom one. There are 2 layers in the Roof Structure, 1 for the sip panel and 1 for the rafters. In this pic I left the fascia and gutter on so you could see what is happening.
  20. A bit like this on a gable/eave junction?
  21. I believe the OP is talking about the MENU bar, not the TOOLBARS. I occasionally loose my main menu bar and am then left with the truncated menu bar that displays when there is no drawing open: But I have never lost the whole menu bar.
