Pet Door

Install the Pet Door on the wall next to the door, open the DBX and adjust the size then copy and paste to your door (I found this works best in an elevation view). Also, be sure to adjust the size of the casing and uncheck 'Use Sill/Threshold' (Casing tab).

for real life use install the pet door as close to the bottom of the door as you can

my golden ret. has a broken hip and he struggles with "tripping" on the bottom edge

I had to buy the extra large door - normally for St. Bernards etc so he wouldn't have to stoop

plus he is obese from lack of exercise

I've been using petdoors for decades - I recommend the double flap doors for cold weather situations or high winds

sometimes I built an enclave entrance and had two doors at right angles to prevent cold winds from entering house

but the double flap doors work fairly well

I spent less than this vendor so shop around - I believe I got mine from Home Depot

this is just an example of the double flap door

oh I'm sorry to hear this about your dog, I hope he gets better! ^_^
Do you know if there is a similar double-leaf door in the bonus catalog?

Good morning - I tried to do this, and it didn't work for me. Do you know if there is a way the dog door will actually cut a whole in the man door?

Thanks in advanced!

I don't think there is any way to place a pet door into a normal or symbol door and have it work so that it cuts a hole.

You can build a new door panel symbol with a pet door built in.  Here is a tech article about building your own door symbols:

Short of designing your own door, for every door style you may want to use a pet door in,

I placed two "Euro H Plank" cabinet doors back-to-back - resized them both to be 10"x16"x1.5" and 3" up off the ground to maintain the integrity of the door frame and the door sweep.  I centered them on the back of the door and then moved them 2" forward into the wall.

You can then material paint each side a contrasting color

Or view them easily in technical or hand drawn lines.

You can cad block the two doors and save this to any library to use on any door style.

This doesn't create a hole, but then we look at all our other doors closed typically, so showing a louvered flap like above, or using a shaker panel cabinet door style should suffice.

FWIW, I always try to put pet doors in a wall rather than a door.  If the house is later sold and the purchaser doesn't have a pet then the door doesn't have to be replaced.  It's much less expensive to just close up the opening in the wall.
