ANGLED ELEVATIONS

Recommended Posts

I built my plan at an angle.  now I can't get a cross section that is 90 degrees to my building.  Any ideas?

Sorry if I'm not fully getting this but can't you just take the camera view from 90 degrees off the plan?

Just shoot a new cross section at any angle you want.

Scott,

Create a new "Cross Section/Elevation".  You can set the direction as you are placing the camera.

Its not that easy.  you can't pick what angles it moves. I even turned on my angle snap grid.  but that only moves in 10 degrees increments.  What If I only want to move it 2 degrees?  I can't seem to do custom angels with this.  Thanks for the help.

how do you change your angle snap grid to move by only 2 degrees?

Turn off angle snaps,  draw a construction line perpendicular to the wanted view direction,  now shoot a camera shot along that construction line that is perpendicular to the view....  the camera should snap to the construction line.

Defaults, Plan

Allowed Angles - Additional Angles

Scott's method works perfectly as well.

Draw a CAD line roughly perpendicular to the elevation you want to shoot. Select the line and use the Align>Perpendicular command to align the line perpendicular to the elevation. Turn on your Snaps, enter the Cross Section/Elevation command and snap the camera to the CAD line.

EDIT: Scott beat me.

It might be my friend but I am not sure what it does.  Would you mind explaining what it does.  We with our own hot keys do not understand control d

Got it,  thanks.  I assume that applies to the cad line and not the camera.  The parallel/perpendicular does not work for camera. It does work for the line that you may want to use to get the direction of the camera correct.   Joey posted one of those cryptic posts that someone can spend 10 minutes figuring out,  thanks Joey.

      Hi everyone:

I am having an issue with a split level. I am using Chief X11.
The plan i posted does not have foundations since when i add those things get really weird and I think I need to sort out the issue with the levels first or the foundation will never build right. I have a room that is going to be garage however no matter how i define it the door from that room into the main house is above the level of the ceiling. see attached photo. I have also attached the plan. The exterior walls are a sip wall customized according to the manufactures specifications with a layer for the furred interior walls. The total thickness on those walls is 10 5/8" The interior wall is a customized interior wall that is load bearing for use in certain areas of the design.

We have owned a single family home for over 20 years and now are in need to legalize it from a Single Family Home to 2 units. We need to submit plans with elevation info to legalize. The home is in Oakland, CA. If you are in my area please contact me. Thank you.

Im a new user - 24 hours into using Chief Architect!  I have the auto elevation tool on tool bar but cannot seem to get elevation views ? what am in doing wrong ?
    • By JanHalter
I have tried changing my elevation views to live view on demand and it appears fuzzy and does not print correctly, however all brackets appear on the elevations.  If I change them all to plot line view only 2 of the 4 will display brackets...what gives?  If I refresh all, it switches from one set of 2 to the other set. So odd.  I've only been working in chief for 5 days, so surely it's something I'm doing wrong?
      Please help!
