  1. How did you build the box window? If I use the auto box window I don't have that problem. Without your plan file it's anyone's guess how to solve your problem.
  2. +1 I don't see why downspouts can't be made parametric. CA knows where the corners of the building are, it should able to place one "x" distance from the corner of each eave wall, or other settings as may be appropriate. Then we could delete or add them manually as necessary.
  3. Not entirely true, depending on the Rendering Technique. Vector View has a specific setting for shadow intensity: And Standard View has ambient lighting which gives some control of overall depth and intensity:
  4. So when you're in a Saved Plan View, go to Defaults and select Walls > Pony Wall, and choose the view type you want to see in that Saved Plan View. Then, open the pony wall in your plan, and under the Wall Types tab make sure it is set to display the DEFAULT view. Then SAVE THE PLAN VIEW. I suspect you are not saving the settings in the plan view after setting up the default. Either that, or your Layout view is using a different plan view source. Check everything carefully.
  5. No. I use the Mac version and have no problems with pony wall display, except when I introduce an error.
  6. Use a runner the same width as the stairs.
  7. I believe I saw a thread where Joe had a method for generating 3D tiles for not just the edge but also for the entire roof, since the flat pattern is especially fake looking. Might be worth finding that thread.
  8. madcow's post right above mine explains it pretty well.
  9. Yep that works. The eyebrow can be set in the gable wall's DBX Roof tab, Auto Roof Return.
  10. Yeah, if you get a truss company to agree to build that, I don't think I would buy trusses from them.
  11. Some people here are building them just like a pole barn, then studding the walls in between the poles with 2x4s. I think they're crazy.
  12. Just lower your terrain using a terrain elevation region or terrain elevation specification.
  13. Same thing occurs with a gable meeting an eave running in the same line. The notch will make it generate there also.
  14. Cool, but pricey. How long have you been using yours? Just wondering what the lifespan of something like that would be...
  15. The auto function for this has been vastly improved in X11 over my earlier thread linked above. Here's one I did recently using pony wall and the Railing Follows Stairs setting: That's all auto-generated, no P-solids or anything added.
  16. That made me laugh out loud. And then cry.
  17. You can click on the extension and drag the length of it wherever you want. If you want all of them the same and you have a large number of them to move, you can click on the first one and drag it where you want, then open the DBX for the string and copy that extension's distance away from marked object and paste to other extensions, or use "apply to all"
  18. That would make a great suggestion IMO. I would love to able to lock a layout page once it's finished.
  19. Happening here too. One solution I found was printing directly from Chief. Not a solution for everyone, I know, but just throwing it out there.
  20. No. I have asked for more control over the shape of line ends, like exists in other programs: In this example you can select a flat end with no cap, a round cap (the only option currently available in CA), or a square cap, as well as specify the shape of the corner. Maybe time for a reminder suggestion.
  21. Nope, I just did it again, started with a new OOB Residential template, and after changing Window Schedule defaults to NOT include objects from all floors, created a new schedule for each floor, and changed the two second floor windows from W01 and W02 to W03 and W04. It's not a trick and it DOES work for what the OP wants, without macros. That's the point of my post. I've done this many times using copy/pasted schedules, new schedules, schedules from old plans... it works.
  22. Guys, you can easily renumber the windows in a schedule using the method I described above. OOB, no macros. Window Schedule.plan
  23. Easy, I do this on every plan. Once you have your second floor window schedule in place and set to display only the second floor windows, select one of the windows and hit the "down" button in the lower toolbar to move it down in numbering sequence. Keep hitting down (or UP) with each window to organize their number and place in the schedule as desired. See pic.
