  1. I use a freeware (for so long and so much that I sent em a donation) prog called Stickies I used to use ClipMate for these kind of things-more robust but not free, don't remember why I stopped. I ought to at least load it back as I have a decade of assorted stuff in it. Both are PC only afaik.
  2. Of course it does Scott. Don't shoot the messenger I don't know what he's trying to achieve or why. I was just noting that what the OP is experiencing is the way it is and if it's really important the only answer I know of is to hide it all (except see below). Once in a while I do this for a particular view and place that counter on it's own layer that I can turn off for other views. Though usually I have module lines on- want to know what I'm ordering- so not an issue. It's a pick your poison situation- turn on cab module lines those "extras" go away, turn em off and they appear, hide em with a counter and lose everything below, make the counter transparent and they are back...unless you turn on module lines. Who's on first... The other way to get rid of the "extras" is to make each side of the island out of one cabinet and divide them to suit in the DBX. Which is fine if they are being built that way.
  3. Those lines are normal behavior. To get rid of them use custom counter top, move to front group, front of group.
  4. Sorry Graham, I wasn't clear. I get the same result as you. It appears to work in the dbx, reverts in after its closed. " Try in 3 D?" was directed at Alaska son since who said it works. How about a screen shot with it at 4?
  5. Hm, I tried it with no luck, kept reverting as graham noted. Did you check it in 3d after? Tried zones, planes. My thought was it has to fit an electric box?
  6. I'm on win 8 not 8.1- crashes have gone but lag persists. Emptied the undo folders and that helps. I'd cleaned as Perry suggested back a ways- made no difference. Crashes stopped after one of the updates (but I haven't been in those files or used those symbols since). Background- Logitich mouseware, Ultramon, Stickies (it ain't that), Windows Defender, DisplayLink. Chief with a plan and a layout plus 5-6 tabs- occasionally second plan file. Other progs-Bluebeam, Intellect, Directory Opus, occasionally firefox, open office. All the same as always. Only thing different is 7 If it's a conflict mouseware would be my hunch?? May try to disable it if I get free...hahah.
  7. For quick I use Michaels method for this or clipped corners-but it's a pain during revisions. For clipped corners Grahams method has the advantage in that it gives a better looking toe at the clip, a little easier for revisions. It is particularly useful IF you know you will need it ahead of time- set the cabinet defaults so all are above the floor- revise away- draw the toe last which can be a psolid or just a molding line.
  8. Dennis- you can use the function "NOW" which will update to the current time. If you copy that cell and then "paste special" check numbers, uncheck formula- you can then copy the start time to another cell. When done copy, paste special the finish time to another cell. Set up the differance in another column...like that. A simple method is using windows notepad log files. When I used to have to track time I used this- back then not much was available but it still works. Here is explanation of log files
  9. Here's a work around. Create a document the page size you need with as many blank pages as you are ever likely to use. Create bookmarks and label them. Save it to your BLueBeam template folder. Print your layout from CA as usual. Open your template. Delete any pages that you won't be using. Check for broken bookmarks and delete those. Then use replace pages, replace content-the number of pages must be the same and the order should match. Then save it. Done. I just tested it and it works. For that matter if you already have any pdfs with bookmarks that are the way you want them just save those to your template folder with an appropriate name and use those instead. I just tested this and it works fine.
  10. AFAIK have to do that after the fact in PDF software. Do any 3D progs offer that on their own? I use Bluebeam PDF; the CAD version plugs into ACAD, Revit and others. The plugin can automatically create bookmarks but doesn't work with Chief. (It also creates layered PDFs from them)
  11. I just tried two plans using the profile plan- thought maybe I had some spooge in my annosets so wanted OOB settings. Drew 4 walls, dropped cabinets on each wall, added doors. Converted to custom counters. For variation I adjusted some counters, some cabinets, some from multiple cabinets, some just one cabinet and no adjustment. Took backclipped elevations of each wall and then tried snapping dims. (did two plans so I could change the order things were placed and the views taken) In BOTH plans - I get dimensions that appear to snap to counters on the elevations facing north (top of screen) and not on any others. The ones that do snap -show no nodes where the snap is, one of them shows extension lines going up to nowhere (something I almost never see). Todd- have you tried annosets? I use them a lot for dims- turns some things off, changes what is located- like that. Helps but obviously not solving this for me I have no idea why Graham can get it to work on the same plan-just for grins I tried floating a custom top and checked that in on section- nada. Graham- did you try horizontal dimensions? I can get them to snap with vertical ones, not horizontal. I'll deal with support on this when I get free but for now just too busy to fuss with it. I rarely need this in elevation and as I noted earlier I avoid it since having problems (that I don't remember in X6)
  12. I don't get it, I can't get a dim in E1
  13. I just floated two counters - results are the same- I get dims in one view and not the other
  14. Scott open the plan to the elevation I noted- it is already a custom counter and won't dimension. Graham don't think that is the reason- I just checked another view in the same plan where it is working and it doesn't work. Cabinets and counters are exactly the same both custom counters and in both cases the counter is also specked on the cabinet . On the attached plan- in View E1 it won't and in E4 it will
  15. Like I said Graham- it is working fine in plan done in current update- pic attached
  16. Looks like your right Scott. Must have changed in one of the updates. Weird thing is: I opened a plan done since the updates and it is fine. Was about to post but thought for a second, opened the plan and elevation that drove me nuts. It still doesn't work there- unless I'm missing something?
  17. Yeah, the hand giveth and the hand taketh. Drove me nuts one day, posted about it. I always finish up with custom tops.
  18. Not that I'm aware of unless something has changed, but then I keep auto turned OFF.
  19. Nice Tommy, thanks but I'm covered, Joe's made the client happy. I make the door symbols a lot like you do. I've taken to saving them as blocks so I can just change panels and moldings- have a few "sticks" in the library for rails and stiles to keep grain direction proper. This was a special case. Once I'm out from under the current onslaught I'm gonna try Joe's method for a few contemporary doors.
  20. Yeah, gotta talk that fool that works for me, some days when he gets really busy-just have no idea what he's thinkin :0 sorry about that.
  21. Folder marked "Dbles". Alan the beaded inset was from a prior thread- had to download to check I uploaded the right one.
