I bought this Hatch Editor back in 2005 when first getting started we never used it so I can't say if it is good or not.... it does have a free trial may be handy if you are serious about creating hatch patterns http://www.hatchkit.com.au/index.php Lew

The really important thing here is for Chief to always remember that user choice is the real king well said.... Lew

or clone the pass-thru tool and have a setting for which side to place the "back" on Lew -
Eliminate the toe kick, shorten the height of the cabinet by 4" and then raise the cabinet off the floor by 4" and then add a psolid 4" tall toe kick. Scott: nice "workaround" Hoping that CA will eliminate this "workaround" soonest these are the things that make using Chief very frustrating Lew

this is from PC magazine Aug 25, 2014 The quick explanation is that all Core i7 CPUs use Hyper-Threading, so a six-core CPU can handle 12 streams, a four-core can handle eight streams, and a dual-core can handle four streams. Core i5 uses Hyper-Threading to make a dual-core CPU act like a four-core one, but if you have a Core i5 processor with four true cores, it won't have Hyper-Threading. For the time being, Core i5 tops out at handling four streams, using four real cores or two cores with Hyper-Threading. very confusing on threads versus hyper-threading Lew

if the roof has already been built I found it handy to use the transform/replicate tool to move the roof planes 5' up adjust the rooms then drop the roof 4' after verifying all the rooms were as desired if lowering the ceiling heights raise 5' and then drop 6' Lew
-
Changing floor defaults assumes that all rooms are the same if they are different, then "select same - load same" is a better choice Lew
-
And the Living Area Label keeps returning to it's place of origin, moved it 5 time already. Frustrating. yes, it is and has been since I started with ver 9.5 there have been recent threads about this and the solution is to turn off the display then use a macro to display the info Lew

plan on upgrading every 2 years at a min Michael: this could be 4-5 years if a decently powerful laptop is purchased I always look at the $2000 range and then back down as needed these days a decent laptop should range from $1200-$1500 only spend more if your needs justify it I also concentrate that money on internal specs that can't be changed later try to get one where the CPU can be upgraded if desired where ram can be added get decent HD internally, but plan on adding externals as needed 17" screen min., 1080P resolution min. don't skip on the power supply, plan for upgrades personally, I don't care about battery life as I am usually plugged in Lew

Jay: I suspect the graphics card also but don't have enough info to make recommendations the i5 processor may be an issue also as i5 doesn't have hyper-threading also it sound like it has a single core ? most "good" laptops have dual or quad-core CA has repeatedly stated that the more cores the better 8 GB of cpu ram is decent the video card should have its own ram and 1 GB min. is recommended I suspect this laptop is under-powered to run Chief properly Lew

Or, you could be SMART and use the superb method that Chief has provided Joe: sorry, but we will have to disagree on this one... I have seen a zillion posts by you asking for Chief to fix this or add that If we had a full scripting language 90% (or more) of those requests wouldn't be needed Lew
-
it's more work than just selecting the desired cabinet pre-configured from the Library and placing it in the Plan. Joe: I could have a script that creates the cabinet as desired and a script that places it or it could be all in one script Lew
-
Joe: Ok, I'll try one more concept while Chief's "scripts" are useful they are limited to what Chief has decided to allow if you want to add another step - can't do if you want to delete a step - can't do with Ruby scripts and recorder you can do anything you want no need to beg and plead for CA to make a change in some future release Lew
-
it's really better than a script Joe: yes, they are good sorry, but its not better.... not sure how to explain it I've tried and tried Lew
-
I can't find the plumbing fixtures They would be in the library Chief doesn't have plumbing or HVAC tools like it does for electric I have been requesting them for a decade and others were requesting before that Lew
-
These things are not named "Scripts" but they do the same job Joe: yes, but with scripting language with a recorder we could control all of that and much, much more instead of having to run Chief A, then Chief B, C, D etc we could create a "master" script that run it all with one click or we could do A, C, E or A, F, B or .... or ... or... Lew

I posted a poll a few weeks ago concerning # of anno-sets they range from Chief's OOB to 36+ my recommendation is to start with Chief's OOB and then add anno-sets as you find a need only go for the 36+ right away if you develop serious sets of condocs like Joe and a few others do CA never intended a 1:1 relationship between layersets and anno-sets but the "power" users have gravitated in that direction Lew
-
Gerry: even though I advocate for macros I think functions like this should be controlled via a setting in a DBX I hope Chief never gets to the point where "everything" needs to be done via a macro on the other hand, if I chose to I should be able to do "anything" via a macro Lew

Tech Support had no clue Richard: not sure why they had no clue ??? CA has stated many times that Chief uses whatever fonts are installed on Windows so most likely a windows issue Lew
-
Aaron: I would suggest contacting CA's tech support they are open 6 AM - 5 PM PST Lew

Adam: my friend uses Time Stamp http://www.syntap.com/products_timestamp.htm Lew
