  1. Larry: I never used my HP 110 Plus as I decided to let the clients do their own printing it was 42" wide and my office was a mess when I bought it by the time I re-organized the office I was no longer in the print business then 2008 business decline along with health decline and I never even plugged it in Lew
  2. Larry: I had an HP 9800 and first time I had to change the color cart it wouldn't recognize it I checked the internet and it was a known issue I used it for B/W prints for awhile then bought a Canon Pro 9000 which I still have but haven't used in years I gave the HP to my partner and he uses it for B/W I bought an HP 8050 back in 2008 but have never used it I recently couldn't find the power cord so just bought a new one now I need to hook it up and use it for my occasional color prints In 2007 I bought an HP deskjet 110 Plus and never used it so last year I donated it to the local history dept I now have a Canon LaserJet for doing B/W I have never been a high user of printers so when they crap out after "minimal" usage it is annoying glad to hear your HP 9800 has treated you well Lew
  3. Lew, maybe you just need to read the manual Perry: Huh ??? each crap out confirmed by Brother tech support too many crapping out too soon Lew
  4. Yep, Brother has awesome tech support and sent refurb units each time after spending time trying to get black to print again but after warranties ran out and all of the units crapping out I gave up 11 x 17 scan bed is great and still works fine Lew
  5. Brother makes a line of 11 x 17 printers. I have the "MFC-J67100W without any problems and WI-FI I have the MFC-6490CW and two smaller models everyone of them has crapped out on printing black Brother sent refurb units and each of them has crapped out I will no longer buy Brother printers I do use the MFG-6490CW for doing scans only now I donated the smaller ones to the local history dept for them to use as scanners Lew
  6. be sure each color is a separate cart. I gave up on having a wide format printer a nice 13 x 19 model fit my office needs for the clients prints I create a PDF and let them print them at the local shop be sure to have a clause in your contract that if they print they they found them acceptable twice I sent DRAFTS to a client and the first time he dashed them to the printer then then engineer marked them up and he complained about wasting $200+ second draft I hand delivered and he tells the secretary to take to printers I said NO, you need to review them first... from then on I had that clause in the contract Lew
  7. the ANSI Z765 method for calculating square footage, which is what developers, marketers, and realtors use Robert: not quite - scroll down to see that their is variation among the "methods" http://www.thefreelibrary.com/The+ANSI+Z765+standard+for+calculating+square+footage.-a0354182483 Lew
  8. Jim: thanks, I'll try it and pass the word to my "partner" Lew
  9. Jim: it may just be my eyes, had surgery still having issues but I can't see those dbx's clear enough to understand your discovery Lew
  10. I wonder if my local building office will see it the same way Nicinus: this topic has been discussed many, many times in prior threads mostly on the old forum but I think there is at least one on this forum bottom line is that there are many "official" ways to calculate living area depending on which "official" agency or entity wants the info contact you building office to see what their criteria is they may say HUD, or appraiser, or real estate or ... or... most likely you will have to start with Chiefts and then make some adjustments I have long advocated that Chief create a schedule based on the most common methods so that we can choose which to use for each occasion we need that info Lew
  11. which HD product ??? some of the HD products were able to import .SKP files so you would need a chiefer to export the .CALIBZ file via .3ds or other suitable format then save as a ver 6 .SKP file overall, I doubt if this feasible - maybe not even doable ??? you could contact CA's tech support to discuss I suspect their reply will be to upgrade to the latest HD product Lew
  12. if no joy, then contact CA's tech support they are open 6 AM - 5 PM Pacific Lew
  13. I wasn't sure since I haven't used this feature just remember that it was mentioned in the "What's new" glad you got some of it working Lew
  14. on the framing dbx for floor 1 set "rim joists" then set the width and type etc this should apply to all rooms on that floor this is a new feature for X6 so I haven't used it yet Lew
  15. not that I'm aware of but probably best to discuss with CA's tech support Lew
  16. I do "save as" and add date/time to the file name too much habit from my programming days to rely on Chief's archive system it probably works fine - just prefer my own save as names etc Lew
  17. Andy: normally license transfer form is $50 as a 2nd seat it will cost the buyer much more to convert to a primary seat verify with CA sales how much more you can also try to sell on Ebay if you don't get any takers here I think CA sales will work with buyer to confirm that you are selling a valid license again, discuss with CA sales add up all the costs to the buyer and then knock off a few hundred to $500 or so and you should find a buyer Lew
  18. Doe Chief record all actions upto a set number for your review? Nope, not for review Lew
  19. If I understand your question Chief is not designed to do cut/fill Lew
  20. seems like a workaround when Select Similar would be the tool of choice Hmmm, maybe I haven't used "select same/load same" much Lew
  21. why not just turn the layers back on ? you could clone the layerset and then make "changes" to the clone there have been numerous requests to have the Layer display options dbx stay open and have an apply button so that we can "play" with layers on/off Lew
  22. use the "all off" layerset then turn on the trusses layer draw a marquee around the trusses and delete Lew
  23. Rod: I've been on this forum since 2004 and have read every post I've never seen mention of the UDS before when starting I scoped some of the CAD standards and AIA standards etc but never went down that road Lew
  24. Unless you have process to support the terms in your contract Jon: that is correct Lew
