Hmmm, I never see that with Norton maybe a setting ? I generally use Norton with OOB settings ? Lew
-
I rarely have to turn off Norton to install software BUT, it may be necessary I have Norton 360 Lew
-
Arielle: the download is just the installer now run the installer by double-clicking on it where it was saved on your hard drive after installing use MENU - HELP - ABOUT... to verify you have ver 16.4 Lew
-
Perry: yep, retired also annoyed at the lame implementation of Ruby when Ruby was introduced I bought some books and planned on learning it until I realized how lame it was if I wasn't retired I would probably learn to use it for what it is can't be bothered at this point the problem is that the "living area label" OOB needs to be fixed it causes confusion and frustration hence this thread and the one Tommy referenced Lew
-
Tommy: you are right - but I forgot about the macro method I don't use macros at this time Lew
-
Tommy: CA still needs to fix the "living area" label placement It should have been fixed a long time ago either that or remove it and require the use of the macro Lew
-
you can't why CA hasn't fixed this many versions ago ??? Lew

older versions of Chief were 32-bit until Chief X4 ??? it all depends on whether it will work on a 64-bit PC if you don't get a positive reply you may want to contact CA's tech support on Monday there may be a charge for calling tech support about older (antique) versions Lew
-
maybe, try to find the latest drivers using CA's website Lew
-
Hi: only you can decide the cost/benefit ratio most users on this forum would say UPGRADE check out the feature list for the various versions of Chief http://www.chieftalk.com/showthread.php?64629-Chief-Architect-Software-History&highlight=history download the free demo of X6 and check it out contact CA's sales dept on Monday I personally hated the library system in X3 it has been improved in X4, X5, X6 I would like to see more of my suggestions that I made back with X3 maybe CA will do them in X7 if you get X6 with SSA then you will get X7 included if your SSA is active X7 may come in Feb 2015 - no guarantees Lew
-
over the various versions the edit toolbar has been enhanced many times X1 is 5 versions old now - approaching antique status now ... Lew
-
as Jon stated use the "edit area" tool with the all floors option check the plan after for issues - not 100% on getting "everything" right but I have used it to expand a plan by 2' in the middle minor issues - mainly with roof - to cleanup after Lew
-
OK, have you tried opening the plan again ? Lew
-
are you saving the cad detail or the camera ? check CAD Mangement tool to see which details have been saved check project browser to see which cameras have been saved Lew

lbuttery replied to Fun2Learn's topic in General Q & A
Fun2learn: just in case you are interested in Sketchup https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/1724-sketchup-pro-2014-license-for-sale/ Lew -
I always do "save as" sometimes as often as every 5 min. or after I finish a task I don't care to repeat by doing "save as" I can add date/time to the file name gives a nice archive system check your preferences settings to see why you are not getting a "save changes" prompt or call CA's tech support Lew
-
probably best to contact CA's tech support short answer - YES longer answer - it all depends Lew
-
Doug from CA posted this is another thread Save to COLLODA and import that way. The toolkit that we use doesn't have a 64 bit version that works for Mac. The vendor of the toolkit has been unresponsive to our requests to make it work Lew

Tim became a part of (or may have even started) the Chief users group on yahoo Tim "hated" X1 and became active on the Yahoo group but that group was there when I joined after buying Chief 9.5 and it was there way before that it was created when CA took a grumpy position on negative postings about Chief and talk about "other cad" CA finally changed their attitude and now allows dissent and long as it is respectful I belonged to the Yahoo group until some complained and started blocking my posts when I mentioned Chieftalk funny how things change over time Lew
