  1. If you are using a Wall Elevation Camera it will by default exclude the fireplace which is in a separate room from the viewpoint of that camera type, what I would use is a full elevation/cross section camera that will by default include the room and the fireplace. I am busy and I have NOT looked at your plan (thanks for sharing) but that is my opinion on what you might be seeing. DJP.
  2. I have been using Chief since they added that feature. I too have always had a laptop for field work and my desktop. The procedure is simple but allows for NO variations of procedure. You can deactivate your desktop at home or you can deactivate or activate while online but the online activation and deactivation MUST be supported by a good Internet connection to do this. Whether at home or in the field a usable internet connection is required. I usually do the deactivate and activate at home where I have the best internet connection to support my choice. DJP
  3. Open Edit - Default Settings - Roof Defaults - Arrow - then choose a more prominint arrow size and Text size by way of the Text Size Input box. If you have already built roof planes you also might need to shift-select all roof planes and make those changes but I would reset Default Settings first. DJP
  4. What Eric (Solver above) describes can be done AFTER one has MANY TIMES practiced doing so using simple test plans BEFORE trying this simple, but exacting method on your main plan. This is done by ONE designated user on ONE plan (not multiple users on the same plan. In order for this to not be a complete disaster, each of the individual users would have to carefully and thoroughly get the actions down perfectly before you let them do this on their own. BEFORE ANYONE DOES ANYTHING THERE NEEDS TO BE A COMPLETE, COMPETENT UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROCESS BEFORE DOING IT ON THE MAIN .PLAN FILE, PERIOD. To do otherwise is just inviting disaster. As to multiple users working on a single floor plan together, you might call Chief Architect Sales about this and ask them that exact question. They do have specialized setups for networking Chief for classrooms but I have never heard of such a set up for commercial usage like in a design firm like you are asking about. Call them and find out from the SOURCE first, here all you will get is opinions, from Sales you will get facts. DJP
  5. By observation, the "Backclip" camera shows exactly what you get when you first "left-click", which establishes the "Viewpoint" of that camera view. Then when you "Release the mouse" that exact point establishes the extent of what can be seen in that camera view. That is what I have observed is the case. You can decide for yourself it in fact it means something else. DJP
  6. If you want something to look "exactly" like the photo you make it using corbels and polyline solid custom objects, only takes a minute and the more you do it, the better-faster you become, or there are some pergola symbols in libraries you can download from the Chief Architect Catalog area that will work but will not look like the photo, your choice. By the time you take to search for and download such symbols, you could have just made your custom pergola and move on to other actual productive work DJP
  7. https://www.chiefexpertsacademy.com/ This person is the best for what you are asking for IMHO DJP
  8. The WWW, do a search and see what comes up. That is what I do when I need things. DJP
  9. If you want a 3D visualization then Chief Architect is a great tool for that. If you already have stamped plans created by an Architect licensed in your State, I doubt anyone here (other than an Architect licensed to create plans in your State) can further help you. Chief is for creating both a virtual 3D model for visual evaluation and also for creating 2D plans for permitting and submittals. You say you have plans, is it that you are not satisfied with what the current plans portend or is it something else? Foundations should be designed by a State Licensed Structural Engineer, period (not an Architect, no me or you). I charge $75.00 per hour but that means little without understanding what, exactly is to be done and why for us both. What I am suggesting is that it may not be as simple to legally and correctly do what you want to do with just another draftsperson, you still need to obtain building permits based upon your plans. Your plans must meet certain criteria demanded by your local Building Permit authority and other Governmental Agencies. I am suggesting you find out more about the ramifications of what you wish to do before doing it. DJP
  10. When tools are turned off that are usually "ON", that is indicated by your curssor, in this case it is as Eric said. DJP
  11. I can certainly help you with the Chief Architect parts of the plan. If your local permit authority requires the advice of a State Licensed Structural Engineer or Architect then that will need to be in addition to our work on the plan. You can find your permit authority's website where they state their plan requirements and you should know this before you engage anyone to help you. DJP
  12. I downloaded your library file, and placed it in a plan and viewed it using PBR, Standard and Vector View. It looked perfect on my PC, good job, sorry you are having a problem. You might just save and close and try again to see if the problem was just ephemeral and in the moment. DJP
  13. Open the symbol using "Open Symbol" dialog and adjust the XYZ relationship for the symbol and its 2D plan block until it displays properly both in plan and camera views. DJP
  14. I got the floor framing to build after checking the default settings, room dialog boxes and finally using the "Load Same" values for the floor platform as you can see, I just stayed at it until I got a positive result (took about ten minutes to do) DJP Flamingo.zip
  15. Than check "Edit - Default Settings - Framing" and also the "Structure Tab" of the "Room Specification Dialogs" where the framing is missing. You also make sure that that named layer is "on" in the "Display Options" dialog for the camera set you are using to view the results. It really cannot be anything else. DJP
  16. Of course, you are "missing a setting" that solves just about any and every problem there is. But what, exactly is the problem you have posted to solve, what is wrong, exactly? DJP
  17. If you set what is colored to grayscale when printing this is the result: yellow becomes grey. I always set me print to PDF to no color= Black and white and thus this avoids a grey-scale outcome. Adjusting fill color and line weights as mentioned by Ridge Runner and javatom also sometimes need to do. In the end, it is you who can control or not any outcome. You get an unwanted result, then you take steps to correct or better the result. DJP
