  1. I beta tested X12 and use it to the present with NO crashes, I have been using Chief since Windows 3.1 and the only time I had crashes is when I had corrupt software drivers or bad or failing hardware. DJP
  2. It should run (My version X1-X12 run just fine side by side). The only difference between me and you is that My license to run Chief Premier is up to date and yours is not. All you should need is the "MSI or CAB" files and then most important your software seat's license number (without that you are screwed). Then if your client's version of X5 requires software drivers for its "Software Lock or Dongle" those can be downloaded for Windows 10 from the software locks website. It is not very complicated to do but demanding in its simplicity and steps. I have Library Files for X5 which are NOT available elsewhere today. Contact me if you need any specific help. DJP
  3. I helped the guy yesterday and he is VERY happy today! DJP
  4. In a camera view, left-click-select the object and in the Edit Toolbar, open its dialog box to find out what it is. DJP
  5. I commonly just place manual shutters from the Library Browser. You have encountered a programming shortfall and at such times you just do what you must to get the look you need and want. DJP
  6. Scott, YOU ARE THE MAN!!! ): I think real trusses are designed by State Licensed Structural Engineers and not by Drafters, Architects, Builders, Designers or developers and not by 3D Architectural software programs. Otherwise, I feel your pain, it often boils down to elbow grease and intention. DJP
  7. That is controlled by way of "Edit - Default Settings - Dimensions - Primary Format". DJP
  8. You will need a very low pitched roof slanted towards the only corner where it can drain to. I would do this manually using about a 1/16/12 pitch. It is a definitely head-scratchier. DJP
  9. I have been teaching, tutoring Chief since 1999. I am in Austin, Texas and I can help you remotely. DJP
  10. He set up his rafter tail molding profile, built a rafter and then placed the custom rafter under the deck. One can also just create a custom polyline solid to emulate just the rafter tail and add that to the end of the deck framing manually. DJP
  11. On freezes and crashes, the first thing to check for is out of date software drivers for the mouse and video card. Check for that first and BTW X9 is no longer supported by Tech Support. DJP
  12. "Edit - Default Settings - Dimensions" DJP
  13. Export the as-built (CAD detail from view), then import and locate the as-built as a CAD block on a custom layer. DJP
  14. Sometimes settings and other automaticities just fail to work. You can just draw this simple manual gable roof on the first floor. You can try again using the "Ignore second Floor" in the build roof dialog. You can set the second-floor ceiling height to zero inches and then build auto roofs, once the roofs are properly located you turn off auto-build roofs and then set the second-floor ceiling height where you need it to be. More than one way to "skin a cat". DJP
  15. Like Mark said but also open the "Build Roof" - "Roof Styles" tab of the dialog and then click on the "Shed Roof" link to then study the article on how to set up for a shed roof. DJP
  16. What, exactly is a "Bilco door" please? DJP
  17. "Edit - Default Settings - Dimensions - Locate Objects - set to "Surfaces", I commonly use that setting when doing remodeling plans since field measurements are from "Surfaces" as well. DJP
  18. Were you connected to the internet when you called up Help? DJP
  19. Rob, in the "Customize Toolbar" dialog there are visible settings for the different modes of toolbar displays: Plan, Layout, Elevation/Cross Section, Camera View, just as there are differing "Display Options Dialog's for plan view and each camera view. I believe that is all you are seeing. DJP
  20. In Display Options for this plan view you should make sure these layers are unchecked: Main Layer Only which will not show any fills or hatching, that command shows only the "Main Layer" for walls. Chopsaw's suggestion is also a good one to check for. What ever it is found to be it WILL be a setting or layer on or off that is denying you of your desired outcome. DJP
  21. I feel you. Personally my toolbar problems are a lot less annoying than yours seem to be. I just reset my toolbars in my profile.plan hoping to stabilize them for the future, we will see. I sometimes see them alter and change for no apparent reason during use but I haven't reported it to Tech Support because I have not identified a pattern that causes the unwanted behavior yet. DJP
  22. One of these might work DJP Grills.calibz
