  1. When I had my new PC built, RTX cards were expensive and hard to come by. I ended up with an RTX 3060 and it is served me quite well. DJP
  2. On that window's "Label Tab" you select "Specify Label" and the write whatever you wish. DJP
  3. An X9 dongle is no longer supported by Chief Inc or the dongle manufacturer, so you best route is to find a current user who might be willing to sell you their dongle to you. You might pursue Chief Sales to see if they might convert your dongle seat to a password instead of a dongle but keep in mind that Chief Inc no longer supports X9 in any way other than library content. My X9 seat runs on a password-no dongle. DJP
  4. I usually create a cross section camera and then using dimension tools to manually align a troublesome landing to stair objects, I know of no automatic settings relative to landings other than they are programmed to have an general affinity for stairs. DJP
  5. When working with AutoCAD users I send views from the layout page (First floor, Second floor, elevations) and none of them have complained to me about the files. I do NOT use export "All Floors" as that is too complicated for the AutoCAD user to sort out. DJP
  6. I commonly assist Home Designer users with their projects. DJP
  7. Long time user, teacher and tutor of Chief Architect. I can help you live online as I have done so with many others. DJP
  8. Many users do not yet understand that there are at least 11 different "Display Options" dialogs, one for plan views and one for each camera type. Any objects or layers can be on or off as you choose per Display Options dialog (on in plan view but off in a camera view). DJP
  9. You can create custom library folders in X10 and then place whatever you wish in them. You are merely creating new folders in your User Library that contain whatever you wish in them but in terms of Manufacturer Catalogs they cannot be broken up, piecemeal but you can copy some of their contents by exporting a library or portion thereof and from that create a custom library folder in your User area of the LB. DJP
  10. Is our only alternative to hire a surveyor to obtain, clear, legible contour lines for creating a realistic terrain plane? DJP
  11. Measure it if it stands and obtain its room ceiling heights and roof pitches or if no house to measure find out if you can obtain a copy of the plans for this home to use to create your own version of it. DJP
  12. Check this library file out on the Chief Website: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?YII_CSRF_TOKEN=affd3601a4c0a28dbf3770bd7c7f67319360c4be&r=site%2Flibrary&search=water&x=0&y=0&x=true&hid_cpca=0&hid_cpu=0&hid_ctm=0&hid_ctnm=0&hid_ctu=0&hid_order=&hid_norotator=false&hid_soft_family_1=0&hid_soft_family_2=0&hid_soft_1=0&hid_soft_2=0&hid_soft_4=0&hid_soft_5=0&hid_soft_6=0&hid_soft_7=0&hid_soft_8=0&hid_version_10=0&hid_version_9=0&hid_version_8=0&hid_version_7=0&hid_version_6=0&hid_version_5=0&hid_version_4=0&hid_version_3=0 DJP
  13. Before spending more money for Twin Motion, V Ray, Luminion etc, like Rab said above, Learn how to adjust settings for materials, Backdrops, lighting and other adjustable parameters with in Chief first. DJP
  14. I concur with Mark above in that you applied a commonly thicker material to a 1/2" thick drywall layer and then thinness is causing the "Z" fighting you are complaining of. When I wish to display brick I use a "Brick 4 or 6" wall type. Short cuts like you applied are "faster" but the results are not assured, emulating how one actually builds in the field do work and are reliable. DJP
  15. The terrain feature rests on the surface of the terrain. Smooth out the terrain there and the terrain feature, Driveway, or Road you placed on top of that terrain will also smooth out. You adjust your "Terrain Elevation Objects" to do the smoothing of that area> DJP

  17. to place chairs under tables you simply select the chai, then press your keyboard "CTRL" control key, then drag the selected chair under the table. Pressing the Control Key overrides the natural tendency for solid object not to invade the "space" of other objects/symbols in Chief. DJP
  18. A lead pipe solution to this is to revert to Windows 10 until the egg heads get the wrinkles ironed out, my Windows 10 PC works like butter. DJP
  19. Chief is programmed to work in specific ways, part of the leaning curve is to observe and learn these barriers or conventions and work with them to get your projects completed. Tommy, above is pointing out one of those conventions. You can control this in Edit-Preferences if you wish but it is better to just let the program run as intended by its makers. DJP
  20. The lines are either on a layer that is on that you may be able to turn off or you can delete the lines after the view is sent to layout using the "Edit layout Lines Tool" . DJP
  21. You create a terrain feature where you wish to remove the terrain, then once created you check the radio button in the dialog of the terrain feature to be a "Hole In Terrain", then that object, so programmed removes the unwanted terrain. DJP
