  1. You can use this file that I exported from my X14 LB, if you like. DJP Fences and Railings.calibz
  2. In Chief there over 11 different "Display Options" dialogs, one for plan view and one for EACH camera type individually, so if the "Ceilings" layer is off in the camera type you are using, then it would appear that one has no ceilings. When I opened your shared file, all intended ceilings were visually present. If, you were perhaps using the "Floor Camera" it is programmed to not show ceiling's by default. Take a look and see... DJP
  3. Open the outermost wall of your intended Porch and then go to its "Roof Tab" and uncheck "Eaves" Move the slabs up until they cover the visually unwanted portions of your walls that are showing. Or delete the slabs and emulate the porch using a Roof Specification Box-Structure Tab. Relative to your roof it is quite easy to just manually edit the roofs that it built automatically. You WILL need to learn how to manually create or edit auto roofs, believe me. Best to get started NOW. DJP
  4. Many pre programmed tools in Chief often work flawlessly but sometimes they require manual help and adjustments from you to arrive at just the right look you wish. Sometimes those pre programmed tools do not work and require that you manually do what they did not do. The point is getting for you. Watch Eric's videos for sure, be intent to succeed. Your own intention to succeed and your persistence in getting just the result you intend is the most important "tool" you have. DJP
  5. Chris, I just opened my X8 and it works EXACTLY the same as in X14: you turn off "Rails, left and right" in the stair dialog. Then you draw a railing wall on each edge of the stair object you wish to have rails. You then program the rails to whatever style you wish. Open the railing specification dialog of each railing wall, go to its "Rail Style" tab and select at the bottom "Follow Stairs". If the result is not visually correct moving the railing walls with your arrow key until they do display properly will then produce the visual results you wish. I just did this in my X8 so I know what I am talking about. DJP
  6. I seldom think about it, commonly I just want to see, verify changes I made in plan view or an elevation view. It does not matter which camera used for that purpose. Such considerations are purely individual and not otherwise. Getting your work done is more important than how it is accomplished. DJP
  7. Terrain holes do NOT "alter the terrain" other than making a hole UNLESS they are programmed by the end user to do so. As I see it now you just need to make the hole smaller to reduce the reveal of the front of the house structure so it reveals only as much as needed to poke through the terrain. DJP
  8. Of course you can using Chief. In terms of real help here, you need to post some images or ideally a copy of your plan file so others can really help, in detail. DJP
  9. No. No freeze ups, no crashes in Beta Testing or since. It does seem a little slower than X13 but only slightly. DJP
  10. When I started, years ago it took me over a year to learn the software to a point where I felt "competent". Your intention followed by study and practice will get you there if you persist. There is a lot to learn (settings, icons, tools and figuring how the software is programmed to work and not work and how you must respond to obtain your products). DJP
  11. Have you created a second floor? DJP
  12. Using Text and 2D CAD you make your own manually. DJP
  13. Manufacturer name and product name would also be helpful. DJP
  14. One would manually create custom symbols to emulate the specific railings in your posted photo using 3D solids and if a lot of railing is required you could also make a symbol that could be repeatedly copied for larger runs of such a railing system. One's main tools are one's intention and persistence along with study and practice. DJP
  15. I also have X12 active and would be happy to assist you. Let me know, please. DJP
  16. Manually by turning off casings and applying molding polylines that you can individually adjust per side. DJP
  17. Case in point, this most recent project I did of a 1910 fire damaged house in Gonzales, Texas (West of San Antonio), I did completely manually. It was too complex to try to set up for "auto-roofs". My point is that you do what is necessary to get a project done. The method is NOT important, the result IS. DJP
  18. Your most potent tool is your intention to get a product. Roof creation is based upon strenuous study followed by practice where you fail-fail-succeed. There is no other workable way to obtain your own competence. DJP
  19. A great question for Tech Support or Customer Service or as DB said, take a look and experiment for yourself. DJP
  20. With roofs, any roof designs I commonly set up for auto-roof generation and when done if not quite right, you manually edit the roof geometry to what is needed and wanted, always. DJP
