  1. Go to the floor above and delete all the auto generated attic walls Chief puts in the plan. Then turn off the auto generation of those attic walls, which should allow you to move the floating dormer around without hitting walls that are in the way. See if that helps.
  2. Turn auto foundation back on to fix it.
  3. On the layout page click on the view and you will see the tools pop up, mine are at the bottom of the page. Select the tool that looks like a ruler and change the scale.
  4. Yep. Difference is I was interested in moving to CAD, I'm not the least bit interested in moving away from Anno Sets.
  5. I'm just too hard headed I guess. I have my workflow down pat so I have never even bothered to look at a saved plan view. All of my needed info is in my Anno Sets.
  6. You have to define the layers properly. Close the plans and upload a copy of it so we can see what you have going on.
  7. You have eaves at diffing heights. Check the box for higher boxed eaves and see if that works.
  8. Sounds like you changed the default drywall to brick. Go back and look at the wall layers, and DO NOT USE the spray paint can. Too easy to paint the wrong thing.
  9. You need to have 2 wall types. One for new and one for existing.
  10. Sorry, I was away. I use a fence wall for this and apply the chainlink.
  11. There are a couple metal poles that I use under MILLWORK>BALUSTERS, NEWELS, & POSTS>CAPPED
  12. Isn't there some in the library? It's in mine...
  13. Regardless of the version...just draw the walls on the 2nd floor. Just like you would build it.
  14. Still learning. Thanks guys.
  15. Umm...what? I think he is talking about the layout view borders controlled by the layout layer. Of course you can place a box and turn it off, but that wasn't the question.
  16. Plan or layout files? In the FILE menu there is an option to BACK UP ENTIRE PLAN and when choosing this option you can include all the different linked images and files. Exporting a layout file though, just so you know, is a big no, no. You would be exporting a page to a certain scale, not the plan on that page to its original scale. And, I'm not sure you can export to DWG and have any of the images or PDF's go with it.
  17. You are correct. All or nothing.
  18. Need to set this up in foundation bdx before you build it.
  19. I prefer the elevation camera with the sketchy overlay.
  20. FWIW...this seems like a lot of overthinking the process! Chief will keep copies of your files in the archives forever. Occasionally I will "save as" a copy for some changes that I know have little hope of surviving but....honestly...I just open the file and go to work.
  21. Here is what I do... I layout the first floor...obviously....and when I am ready for the second floor, I set the second floor ceiling height to the height I want my knee walls. In this sample I set them to 54". So that means my entire second floor will have 54" ceiling heights, and that is OK with me. Now, when I am ready to start laying out my rooms up there, I TURN OFF auto roof build. Now I can move those ceiling heights up to 97" and my roof stays where it's suppose to be.
  22. I've moved to TImes New Roman for all plans and docs. Easy to read and prints well.
  23. Multiple details can be drawn in CAD Detail windows and sent to a single layout page at what ever scale you want them to be.
  24. Smart Board, Hardie Trim Boards, AZEK Trim Boards. They come in many sizes and can be used to help with that transition.
