  1. Whiteboards are recommended for interior applications only. (The weather causes the marker to streak and eventually wash off.)
  2. Today's framing contractors can frame any imaginable roof with site cut rafters; and many still do. (Not that I have anything against trusses - I use them regularly.) Dig a little deeper - Chief does trusses.
  3. Can you draw the additional height on the second floor?
  4. There is no back and forth between Chief and ACAD. It is a one way street. You can export lines that someone with ACAD can import. They can send you back lines you can import.
  5. here you go The macro "Area Rounded" is one I created by clicking the "New" button in the DBX
  6. and just change the (0) to the number of decimal places you want i.e. x = area.round(1) gives you x.y as the output x = area.round(2) gives you x.yy as the output
  7. DSH just paste the text Joe provided in to the "Value" of the macro and select "Owner Object" from the context drop down. Thanks Joe !!!!
  8. Yes! I'd love a setting for this. The builder asked me to confirm that we needed 85.4541016 square feet of tile for the bathroom. I asked him if my estimate was not accurate enough.
  9. Nice work! Did you model that landscape or is it a backdrop?
  10. Manual dormers. I never use auto dormers. They seem to be too far from where my design needs to be that it is easier to create from scratch than modify the auto dormer.
  11. I make the second floor normal height and move down the roof planes. The pro being spaces in the dormers have the proper ceiling height or collar tie height. The "story and a half" Cape is a common type in the Northeast. The roof sits on second floor knee walls that may be 2, 3, 4-ish feet tall. I cannot really compare the two as I have never tried doing it with a 1 1/2" second floor. A con might be if you intend to show space under the roof you'll need to create a third floor that is open to below. Might get fussy with room definitions?
  12. The Dropbox folder is actually on the hard drive. That folder just gets synced with Dropbox online.
  13. Holy Cow! I changed this setting to balanced and my PC is lightning fast now! I had been wondering why it wa snot as fast as I'd hoped it would be. Thanks Glenn.
  14. Check and see if you have 2 schedules (Just last week chased this down with doors.)
  15. Just in schedules. Plan notation is W# in a hexagon
  16. Right, If the tool produces a result other than it is labeled for is it a workaround or a mis-labeled tool?
  17. I'll agree that things need to be fixed and continually improved. I'll disagree that CA disregards a fix when there are know workarounds. (shadow boards and ridge caps immediately come to mind.) In my opinion CA does a pretty good job implementing fixes and improvements. The workaround serves well as a step that gets someone to the point that they can produce what they need to at the moment and move ahead in their project. Nobody wants to wait until the next update cycle to finish a drawing.
  18. Mixed use in the original Portland.
