  1. I've never seen this behavior (used Chief since V9). I'd guess it's not Chief.
  2. I had the opposite reaction. I think X7 looks less cartoony than previous versions.
  3. Funny, I think the icons look less cartoonish in X7 than previous versions
  4. Alan, Come east and take a crack at it. I'll buy you a lobster roll. (You might want to bring an extra shirt.)
  5. Bob, You relink them through the "Referenced Plan Files" dialog box that pops up when you open the layout or accessed via the menu Tools > layout > Referenced Plan Files All that computer greek is essentially an address. What you are experiencing is akin to mailing a letter to your neighbor and asking why it has not arrived at your office.
  6. Unless your file path is exactly the same at work and home you will have to relink them to the layout when opening on a different computer. For example this my file path at work: C:\Users\kmoquin\Dropbox\KMA\Projects\Standard Details but at home it looks like this: C:\Users\K\Dropbox\KMA\Projects\Standard Details One small difference, but an entirely different address as far as the computer is concerned.
  7. For those who's curiosity is peaked (Mine was, though I have a company policy against trading my services for the promise of fame and exposure.) here's a website for the venture: http://www.veteransmuseumofnh.com/index.htm Though the internets don't speak kindly of it's founder: http://doj.nh.gov/media-center/press-releases/2011/20110223-veterans-museum.htm http://www.unionleader.com/article/20140326/NEWS03/140329394 One may want to proceed with caution.
  8. Irfanview (freeware) has a batch convert function http://www.irfanview.com/
  9. I've watched just about every video in the sidebar while waiting....
  10. Worst case might be you start your second set in the second files layout page 9.
  11. Why have I just discovered the pitch label in section? Thanks DSH! (It shows in the convention I use. It is exactly what I was typing. I abandoned the two lines some time ago.)
  12. The 3D framing is absolutely useful to me - especially for the repetitive elements. It helps highlight potential conflicts. I don't expect the framers to locate each joist or rafter where I've drawn it.
  13. CTRL-C, CTRL-V is a good one to remember since it is used by all applications.
  14. Update: I can duplicate this if I use "copy/paste" from the edit menu. Center button pastes the item in place instead of panning. I use CTRL-C, CTRL-V to copy and paste. With this method you are still able to mouse the center button to pan.
  15. I don't get this behavior when I paste an object copied from the plan. I am able to pan with the center mouse button.
  16. Square footage calculation is a default setting Default Settings > Plan -Living Area select "Surface" for interior surface or "Main Layer" for outside of framing.
  17. Misty, The forum is for questions and I think Robert was trying to answer your question. You asked for reference materials and he provided a link to the reference manual. You mentioned "I want to be able to show plans as the one I have attached below." and Robert was pointing out there is no plan attached in your post.
  18. Robert, I was able to get the block to show on the interior by adding a 0 thickness layer to the wall type with the block material. A funny thing happened when I did so - the wall appeared to jump in the +Z direction. (see where highlighted selection is in the image) If you try this, let me know if that happens to you as well.
  19. I've been using X7 public beta daily without incident for a few weeks. I am completely confident in using the public beta version for current work. (I do not use pre-release beta versions for anything other than testing.)
  20. X7 is still Beta. the final release is coming out soon.
  21. Blizzard, Here's a quick video of how I'd go about creating those two roofs: http://youtu.be/l4GDczBbbrQ (sorry no sound)
  22. I'll guess the second floor walls have not been framed.
