  1. thanks, I will, maybe tomorrow from 6 & 9? I have a client who will be here..... this is for him. Let me know what time works for you. I will be on the clock.
  2. I really need it for the new, right now I am getting all studs listed. I suppose the new walls can be designed to use metal Studs or no studs or......... maybe the existing can be tricked into using LVL lumber maybe....... but if I leave out the studs in existing walls, then my sections will be incorrect as well as my framing overviews. I wonder why we shouldn't be able to have new studs and existing studs. '
  3. The same cross section size is the same, The height is irrelevant. In fact I need to make a 2x4 at least about 1" larger for it to recognize it as different material. IOW, a 1-1/2"x3-1/2" stud and a 1-3/4"x3-1/2" stud will show up the same in the material list..... ( I think). A 1-1/2"x3-1/2" will show differently to a 2-1/4"x3-1/2". (sorry for not converting to metric) The reason I ask is I would like to be able to identify in a material list the new studs and existing studs. I did copy the 2X4 STUD FIR @ 16" OC material and called it 2X4 STUD FIR @ 16" OC NEW and changed the color so I could visually see the new studs and existing studs. BUT!!!!!! The two different materials do not show up differently in the material list. BTW, I think the guys in the south east use SOUTHERN YELLOW PINE, do they have to change the name to that from FIR? So again, the purpose is to have a list of new studs and a list of existing studs for remodels. In this picture you can visually discern the new from existing studs but this will not be reflected in the material list.
  4. Is it possible to frame a wall with fir framing #1 and copy that material, give it a different color and call it fir framing #2 and then find both materials in the material list. i do have two different stud materials but they do not show up differently 8n the material list. What am I missing? thx
  5. I CAN see the Full screen button in 3D VIEWER FILE...... in FIREFOX browser I CANNOT see the Full screen button in 3D VIEWER FILE...... in SAFARI browser Can anybody show me where the FULL SCREEN button is for SAFARI?
  6. Yes, I watched it, good vid, I suppose it seems like I always have a tricky situation where the wall is sometimes a seat and maybe is part of a tub platform etc., I think somebody recently was pointing. out how fussy the wall connections can be. I suppose my question would be what is the advantage to using pony walls?
  7. Without a doubt I go with DJP. Glass wall with glass door. The 4" curb and 42" hi pony wall adjacent to vanity are PSOLIDS. I do the TILE VENEER with a MOLDING POLYLINE. (I can shape it in plan view easily. And option to the.MOLDING POLYLINE is a WALL MATERIAL REGION. The downside for me with the PONY WALL solution is the pony may be different heights (4" curb and the 42" hi pony wall adjacent to the vanity).
  8. Hey P. I remember that first weekend class we took together back in November of 2005 in San Diego and that came up. I do do not think Mont was aware of that phenomenon. Blocked framing members do not show up in 3D. Not a big deal anymore... I guess..... but the option should be available.
  9. Hey Chief, please change the super bowl numbers....
  10. the secret is in the USE ROOM CEILING FINISH Look at my pic, in one pic I show the ceiling of the left ceiling plane and in the other pic I show the right ceiling plane...... I think I did what you were trying to do.
  11. turn off CEILING SURFACES and I think you might get what you expect.
  12. So easy yet you won't take the time to post the plan.
  13. Copy that FOUNDATION WALL and put drywall on the side.....
  14. This is why I don't spend the time with material lists. It would be so much work to "get the model right". Somehow these remodeling contractors have been pretty good about sticking a wet finger in the air and coming up with a number. Why would I want to get in the way of that expertise?
  15. Larry Hawes, Joe Carrick and D. Scott Hall are in San Diego County. I am sure there are a few more.
  16. yes, absolutely, Michael is one of the best at understanding all facets of CA
  17. Yeah, probably a better way but now I am accustom to multiplying the positive number by a negative number.
  18. That usually works.... but I did have an instance lately where that did not work. Maybe user error. I will see if I can remember the job to check it again.
  19. Yes, Logitech software is installed and it does make a small difference. It’s weird, yesterday I was scrolling in and out and it was fast for a small test drive and then the speed went away. IAE, I bought a new gaming mouse yestday that I will try soon. I will also double check Glenn’s suggestion.
  20. Hi Glenn, yes, I have adjusted SCROLL SPEED in preferences, I can slow down to a cccccrrrrrrraaaaawwwwwwllllllll. And then I can speed up t9 a ccrraawwll. But I can’t get it quick. I’ll try t9 catch you in a GTM soon if you are available t9 check it out. 2 months and we will be out there to visit you and Jennie for a couple of days. We can’t wait!
  21. Hey MAC users. My scroll wheel is much much slower on my new IMAC that happens to have MOJAVE installed. I have two IMACS. Old IMAC is a late 2013 with High Sierra...... scroll wheel speed is satisfactory New IMAC is a 2017 with Mojave...... scroll wheel speed is very very slow do you guys agree? I have a simple Logitech mouse. any tips on increasing scroll speed.
  22. So to solve his issue, I suppose all he needs to do is to go to the room at level one and designate the structure as FLOOR SUPPLIED BY ROOM BELOW, there.... I just solved the worlds largest problem.
  23. I see a room with molding. I bet he has called that a room, built a foundation below and then..... put the garage doors in the room wall (not foundation wall) and then moved the garage doors down 12"??? I just tried it... that is how he built it.
