  1. I agree, and in the same vein of thought, we can control the top shape of a window but not the bottom shape.
  2. I’m not at computer now, but there are only 7 types so you would be limited to 7 note schedules...... am I correct?
  3. It has always been my approach. It is too much trouble trying to figure out if a certain ref set will go with more than one plan view set. After Dermot's comment, maybe I won't use ANNO sets anymore..... maybe. This has come up before....... the ANNO SETS serves as a back up to a PLAN VIEW SET that I may mistakenly mess up, so maybe I will still use ANNO SETS. I have been using the same TEMPLATE SETS for about 12 years, eventually I should start fresh.
  4. Don't stop there. I think you need a unique ANNO SET, LAYER SET, and REF SET for each plan set. If you do it that way, you will not need to worry about changing a set that will inadvertently change how different PLAN SET will appear.
  5. Joe Carrick, Larry Hawes and D. Scott Hall are all experienced users in San Diego.
  6. Yeah, I have been doing mono slabs since they first came out. That is something I have requested many times. The pic is the way I like to draw my footings..... I stopped fighting it.....
  7. Rene, would you mind posting a pic of what you are trying to do.... maybe a hand sketch if you can't build it.
  8. I agree with Graham on this. Do not try to control the ceiling height by defining the ceiling height .... keep all the ceilings at the same height..... and then add a OPEN TO BELOW room above, define it's ceiling height , and that room will control the ceiling height of the room below.... or that room above will have a floor that will control the ceiling of the room below...... much much easier.
  9. Thanks Mick, I got it working except for dimensioning the curb cuts. Look at the auto dimension on the top right. Shouldn't it be 9'-3"? Let's put it this way...... what is the 9'-0" dimension at top right dimensioning? bbbb why is curb cut dimension wrong 3.plan
  10. Take a look at this. plan. I would like the 1-1/2" jamb for the garage door to go down past stem wall to top of slab. In plan view it looks correct, the jamb is outside of stem wall. in 3D the jamb stops at top of stem wall, incorrect, it should go down to top of slab. Also the curb opening is wrong. It should be 9'-3", it scales 9'-3" but it dimensions 9'-0" If I am not mistaken, this worked correctly in previous versions. any thoughts before I report this to headquarters? bbbb why is curb cut dimension wrong.plan
  11. Glenn, I guess I never realized a sidewalk could cut curbs. So what is the difference between a terrain path and a driveway? Is the only difference the layer they reside on?
  12. the easiest way is to go tao referenced plan files, browse and change the one you do not want to use to the plan file you are using or you can delete the layout boxes.
  13. I think only a driveway cuts a curb. I can't believe you cuts the curb with a sidewalk.
  14. I think you are talking about putting details in a separate plan. I have been using that since the beginning of time and it works well. You also talked about putting them on different floors/levels..... I did that for a short time.... I found it quicker to keep them on the same level.... the advantage of different levels is is quicker to update when you zoom in and out. Since I use the SAM, the detail plan is already in layout and there are already a bunch of the standard details in the plan that I can shuffle around.
  15. Ahh, got it.... thus the reason you were using square cut eaves vs plumb cut eaves.... thanks, nice tip.
  16. Did you try using a FRIEZE? Admittedly I have not had great success using a FRIEZE.
  17. Has anybody played with the key notes in 3d? Any thoughts on this?
  18. WOW, I just found this yesterday.... no wonder I had not seen it sooner. Nice job CA
  19. Yeah! Now you're talking! I will check out Larry's vid. Hmmmmm, does that mean the demo plan is the ref set used for the proposed if I want to see how new relates to existing. I have talked to a few heavy hitters and we all agree this is probably the best release we have seen. A lot of little paper cuts have healed.
  20. Unless I am missing something, I agree with Larry. Multiple ref sets are great if using one plan file whilst reffing multiple LEVELS, but trying to use multiple PLAN FILES seems to be a “trick” that is more trouble than it is worth...except for a few limited scenarios..... different strokes....
  21. How ironic, we in Cali complain about the hassles we go through to secure a permit, but Joey is spot on..... the hassles create income for us.
