  1. Here is another old thread that goes over some of the more complex details of symbol modification in Chief. There is a video of mine as well as a good video of Michael's that might be helpful.
  2. Eric, Are you suggesting that a HD template would work fine in Premier ?
  3. I might be wrong Steve but I don't think they are all being shipped any more. Could you have brought those templates forward ? Take a look here: C:\Program Files\Chief Architect\Chief Architect Premier X12 (64 bit)\Templates
  4. X9 shipped with all of those styles of template plan files but they got away from that in later versions but they can still be used or custom built with an up to date template file that you customize.
  5. You should be able to set that in Plan Defaults for each schedule type.
  6. If you don't see what you need there you can always build your own.
  7. Possibly in X13 as many have asked for it but not in X12. You can however Suppress the Dimension Value and add a text box manually.

  9. Sounds great Ben. Could you expand on the level of accuracy of your system as I think that is the key factor for Chief Architect users. Thanks.
  10. Took a quick look at your plan file with X7 and had forgotten that we did not have ALDO until that version but could not find a lost rogue object so likely something to do with what @Kbird1 mentioned. Funny though that the software does still seem to think there is a problem even though it would not reproduce the space view when opening an overview camera. Here is the warning I got....
  11. You likely have a rogue item that has drifted away from your build location that throws off the camera setup. Post your plan file and one of the experts may be able to help you sort it out. Or go to an all on layerset in plan view and use CTRL + A to select everything and then look for something out of place at the extents of the selection box.
  12. Yes unfortunately these are all workarounds for a tool that was never finished. You may be able to get one of the methods that others have used to work for you in a specific situation but they rarely work in all situations. If you have time now that you are up to date on the topic you could post a summary in suggestions so that chief can improve their software.
  13. Michael's suggestion may be just what you need but if not Shift select or Marque select the polyline and on your active toolbar click the Make CAD Block tool.
  14. They introduced pattern offset controls in X11 but even with that option you may be better off just cad blocking your polyline before you move it and it can still be adjusted for height as a cad block.
  15. You can try like this or just add the appropriate number of spaces before the %box_scale% line. Maybe if I understand the question.
  16. How about a screen shot of what you have and a text mock up of what you want or plan file with notes perhaps.
  17. Here are some recent discussions on the topic: Hope that helps.
  18. Sorry I guess that was a theoretical 0". Likely you need to leave the 8" setting alone. It is just that chief needs two pcs of information to create a slope.... Actually 3 pcs. Top elevation, Bottom Elevation and distance between the two. So give it a try with one region at 8" and the other at -6" with a small gap between them giving you a 14" difference (slope).
  19. Sounds like you only missed on step.... You must also define the level part at 0" with another region.
  20. Turn Auto Rebulid Terrain back on in Terrain Specifications or set up a hot key for Build Terrain or turn off Behavior Indicators in Preferences> Edit> Behaviors, but this is not recommended by Chief as it also turns off all of your other Indicators. Hoping this gets an overhaul in X13.
  21. X10 has a "Print Model" feature. What version are you using ?
  22. I commented about ray trace quality walkthroughs years ago and now we might have them. Quite likely it will take a lot of power to render one and you may be looking at more than just an overnight of a smoking hot computer but if it works it would be quite amazing. The thing I am worried about is that it is maybe a less than 10 pass ray trace and lighting would need to be absolutely perfect for it to work. I wonder if there are quality defaults ?
  23. Sure it is a little complicated but completely possible to do that. Once you are completely done with all the trusses and have them labeled as you want them, open the truss detail with the Open Truss Detail tool. You may need to place a few little cad lines to get you dimensions to snap where they need to be and then send the whole thing to layout beside the sheet as reference and make a copy of it each time you crop out and position a detail how you want them to display in layout. You can include your location with your Profile so we have a rough idea of your time zone and which way is up.
  24. There are three video's on Hip Trusses... Have you seen them. #351, 352, 502. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/playlists/146/roof-framing.html?playlist=93 Let us know if you are still stuck and specifically at what point. Multiple Copy tool works great for trusses. You should see it on your active toolbar when truss is selected.
  25. I think it is mostly a survival marketing strategy for this situation we are currently in. Not sure a lot of people will be flying to big trade shows that would normally happen or at least a lot fewer than in previous years. It has always been more difficult for international users or prospective users to attend anyway so I like the refreshing change and hope it is something that can continue.
