  1. I might leave that to Eric because I am not even sure it needs to be there in X12 as the width should already be a float value. You could try removing it and see what changes. I might be wrong though. Float Float objects represent inexact real numbers using the native architecture's double-precision floating point representation.
  2. "to_float" and good guesses on everything else.
  3. Doug I think Steve found the key issue. The manual ceiling planes were causing all of the noted artifacts above the roof line. Try selecting both of the roof planes in plan view and hit the "Polyline Union" tool to combine them.
  4. I am not quite sure what is causing it but they are artifacts of the side walls of the auto dormers. You will likely need to explode the dormers and work with the walls manually to eliminate that problem. When I opened the file the vertical artifacts were present but not the two angled pieces that appear to be joining them. Also two ceiling surface artifacts behind the main ridge that will clear up when you combine the two main roof planes on the rear and then join them to the upper edge of the dormer roof plane.
  5. Yes I have reported it, as it is a much more significant issue if the PDF quality is poor as it always seems to be with a document that is not digital and must be scanned. Then it becomes a real headache even if you are just importing so you can digitally reproduce the document. I have gone through this many times and try to help others that have similar issues since other software programs do not seem to struggle with this the way Chief does. So if you think some day you may not have an option of importing a PDF you may want to seed in a report as it seems it takes years to resolve issues like this.
  6. There is. You can use a PDF editor and insert the desired PDF after Chief does it's thing. Not ideal but the end results are much better than the aforementioned alternatives. I was looking for a better solution within Chief..... Since I already mentioned using a PDF editor.. Maybe X13 if they have been listening.
  7. I used to do that but had complaints about the quality It seems a slight bit better than importing and duplicating your original PDF but still leaves some to be desired compared to a vector PDF for sure. I wish there was a better solution.
  8. Or you could use the "Share this post" feature in the top right.
  9. 7 MB in my ANSI B X12 layout template printed at 600 dpi.... Same in X10... Not sure where the extra 10 MB comes from. Page 2 perhaps ? Quality is not even all that great once imported and then re PDF'd. Might be worth while exporting a blank title sheet and then combining PDF's with a PDF editor or convert to .PNG before importing into chief layout.
  10. Gable ends will depend on how the wall and roof framing interact. A good exercise for dormers is to place an auto dormer and if it works and looks correct, ( they are still a little erratic at times ) then go ahead and explode the dormer and take a look at the individual wall settings which will give you a good head start when the time comes that you need to build one manually. You can always post a plan file and some noted screen shots for specific situations which help us help you.
  11. Walls of that type will need to be set to "Roof Cuts Wall at Bottom" under the Roof tab of the wall DBX. Auto roof will then frame under it.
  12. Check the Help File. I think there is an error in the X10 version so here is the one from X12.
  13. It will depend on a lot of other things but you will need to increase it until it shows up. I think my minimum works out to be about 6. Maybe try 10 and work back down if that works.
  14. So when you hire a surveyor to do a terrain plan for 500 acres, how many elevation points does he record ?
  15. Good theory but unfortunately it seems to create a bunch of other issues the way chief is currently set up.
  16. Ok that is it then. Others have had that issue so it should be searchable here on the forum but never done it myself. Your laptop is just using the basic integrated video card so it just won't render the complicated stuff that chief requires.
  17. Maybe check in Preferences to see what the Video Card Status says and make sure it is using your main video card. Not sure how the printer issues could be related but maybe if they both somehow use the same ram memory and there is now an issue. Might be one for tech support or a hardware guru.
  18. Everything seems to be working fine here Mike with the exception of the roof. Did you possibly get a bad video card driver update recently ? Also time to update your signature before X13 comes out.
  19. Open Object in library and change one at a time or dump them all into your plan and marque select and change them all at once and then put them back into your library. Not easy no matter how you cut it. I think this is where the library suggestions come from.
  20. There is a big problem when the Tape Measure tool is used with Grid Snaps turned on since the tool will then snap to the grid rather than what you are trying to measure. Not sure how snapping to objects would present a problem though? It has to snap to something to give you a measurement. Maybe it is snapping to the wrong thing ??
  21. You will most likely need to increase the line weight for it to print. Not really sure why but the hard wired default is a line weigh of 1 which really only works on screen and PDF but not for printing.
  22. Are you using "Display Capture" for your Source ? It should work fine if you are. Window Capture will omit popups.
  23. I have not had issues in a while but you can take a look in Device Manager > Display adapters > RTX 3080 > Driver > Roll Back Driver. If it gets more complicated than that maybe @Kbird1 could give some tips as he seems to keep up to date on Nvidia stuff.
