  1. There are a few things that are hard coded in Chief and unfortunately that may be one of them. If that is a standard in your area and you don't get a good answer here within a few days it might be good to let product development know about it as there is a new version coming out soon.
  2. That seems to typically happen if there is a duplicate wall in the same location. Oddly that is something that is really not supposed to happen in the software but somehow often does when you don't want it to. Would need to see the plan file to be sure though.
  3. Thanks Eric, That seems to be a big step in the right direction that appears to work rather than chiefs teaser %heightf%
  4. Just to frustrate you Chief does this for some strange reason. But I think you will actually need to write a proper macro to do that using the Measurement Class. Shoot me a PM if you get stuck.
  5. A fence or a terrain wall will follow the terrain but it sounds more like you need to build a structure not just do some landscaping. Structural wall elevations are controlled by the absolute room elevations.
  6. You may want to use a macro if things need to be accurate or just make sure your waste factor is adjusted for the way chief rounds.
  7. Steve it seems to have something to do with the position of the return on the roof plane. It seems to be happier directly in line with the corner of the wall framing. Not sure why an auto return would not be correct so that may need to be sent in.

    Question

It would be important to know what version of the software you are using as well as the critical specifications of the computer you are running it on and if that does not raise any red flags then maybe a copy of the slow plan file.
  9. Try these settings or post the ones you are using. It may also be helpful to take a look at the plan and layout files.
  10. It appears to be a resolution problem in the entire PDF. What settings are you using to produce the PDF ?
  11. I was thinking more of the plan view representation that is not very good with most Molding Lines or Polylines. Maybe you are not using that at all and relying on the railing wall Plan Display options ?
  12. If I recall correctly the reduced ceiling height can wreak havoc with the truss system in certain situations but they may have fixed it.
  13. That comment always seems to come up but what do you do about your construction documentation ? Draw cad boxes where the p-solids would be ? Looks good Glen but be careful if that deck is attached to another structure.
  14. That particular railing style could be built as a panel railing in Chief. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02893/creating-custom-balusters-and-railing-panels.html Or add a p-solid top rail since your mid posts will need to be done manually as well.
  15. Those are just the extra tools buttons that you have added from "Tools" library. They are not part of the stock tool bar. The only issue I see are the duplicate entries that you likely added individually to each different view rather than just checking off what view you need to see the tool in.

    SIGN

Sure if you have an image of an existing sign you can make that into a material and apply it to a p-solid. You can also create 3D letters from p-solids or even use some of the symbols from the Chief Library.
  17. How about the symbol. Someone may be able to diagnose it for you.
  18. Your "ROPE" symbol is either corrupted or is quite a bit too detailed for chief to handle efficiently.
  19. You will need to compress the columns to create the multi line column headers but there is a problem which I would consider a bug in that once the width of the first or last column's is established it can not be reduced without collapsing the other columns to a single line which just makes a mess of your schedule, so if for instance if you wanted to reduce your text size you are in a heap of trouble. Hoping it will be fixed in X13 but you know how that works...... An undisclosed number of people need to send in the same report.
  20. That is definitely a cool trick. I would also love to know how you did that if you would be willing to post the file. You may have cracked the vector view invisibility mystery.
  21. Sounds like a Craftsman style window to me.....
  22. Oh I forgot that will remove the punctuation generated by the new measurement class so it is necessary for this purpose.
  23. That looks like it could possibly be a text object but that is just a guess without the plan file.
