  1. Not exactly sure what type of fixture you want but this might get you started. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/12132-coloured-lights-in-ray-trace/#comment-104038
  2. Yes there is a thread about this, using the perspective floor overview camera top view is what you are after I think. Sorry Orthographic floor overview will work better to keep things square and true.
  3. Very nice Rich, That solves a bunch of issues for a good still shot.
  4. Should not be any problem to setup a back clipped cross section through or beside the auto stairs and as Jerry said trace over and the if you like make a symbol as Eric said. Let us know where you are hung up and maybe we can help.
  5. That seems quite unusual but if you need to get it sorted out before Monday, you might want to post a sample plan and someone could take a look for you.
  6. Could you attach the corrupted PDF file? I think that I just had the exact same issue in X9 and sent it all in to Tech support Att. Michael but would like to take a look at yours if I could. Or just post a .jpg screen shot of the issue areas. Thanks, Chopsaw
  7. No but I could make one if I had time or just teach you what you need to know. Keep in touch.
  8. Ok but I think the Idea is to draw your title block/border on that page and then put the other stuff on another page and link the two. If it is only one page, what you did will be fine just draw your border there and you won't need another template. I can show you how to make your own videos if you like.
  9. Yup you are almost there .... Select the " Edit Page Information " option and you will get the DBX I told you about earlier. Sorry my mistake the "Edit Page Information" option takes you to the "Layout Page Information" DBX. Or maybe that is a Chief bo bo.
  10. No you can add on to your current one if you like depending on how much it will be used or if your original is still something you would use without the new additions. Or you could make a copy of your existing D layout and add to it. Then if something goes wrong you still have the original even if you abandon or delete it later after you are sure you are happy with the new one.
  11. Diane, If you make a new blank page and then open the Layout Page Information DBX from the Project Browser by right clicking on that new page it gives you that option and also right below that is where you assign your other pages to use that template. You can switch to None to draw your new border and then go back and reassign the page.
  12. Yes in the layer set if you want everything on page 0 but you can take another blank page and make it a template as well. Not sure which would be best for you. Not so sure you will find a video unless Scott made one.
  13. If you already have a separate 8.5 x 11 title block/border you can make a copy of your D layout and copy it into there without much issue. Let me know if you have any problems.
  14. Yes I think Joe does his layouts that way. I set one up but have not fully tested it yet. You can have a second size title block/border on a separate layout layer set but you will have to go back and change the paper size and layer set to make a separate PDF print file. The other option would be to have a second template page but you would still need to change the paper size I think to print. Unless your printer has a way to crop. It might be worth asking. Hope I understood the question correctly because your example looks a bit large for 8.5 x 11 .
  15. Thanks guys. I had almost forgotten about your contribution Michael, as I have not had a fancy project to try out the technique myself yet. Keep up the good work.
  16. Yusuf is the master of that trick, take a look here :

    help

Yes that is correct and even if you could then you would not be able to draw anything without buying another hard drive.
  18. What format is the 3D plant? If you import it as a symbol chief will make you a 2D line drawing automatically as the 2D cad block. You can also draw you own cad block and assign it to the symbol. Or you can convert your .jpg to .png and put that in the plan independently.
  19. Ben, Thanks for all your help and input, I think this is going to be helpful in sorting these issues out. Just to clarify about the PDF image that I posted. It was printed with Chief Architect Save As PDF @ 600 dpi. The lines goes away when printing at 144 dpi but that is too low res for me and the whole thing looks fuzzy. I also test printed this page with Microsoft Print to PDF as well as PDF995 with results that were not as good as Chief. There is a grab handle on the layout box that is easy to rotate your image in layout before printing. Also if you like I can show you how to do your watermark in layout. Just let me know.
  20. Ben, You can rotate quite easily in layout and this should not be a problem. Just had an issue with the Chief Architect Vector print to PDF that may be related to the original problem in that the file is still not being flattened properly. I still have to go back and check the original transparency and .png issues but I did not read anything in the update notes that would indicate this issue has been worked on. This one is printing in multiple sections that show a ripple at the join and fuzzy distortion and offset in the shadow line.
  21. Yes I sometimes print 8 1/2" x 11" or 8 1/2" x 14" one off preliminaries but usually just paper and not PDF. So I understand if you want to do it electronically. Just a rough layout would be my solution.
  22. Ben, Is there a reason you don't print from layout? This would solve your problem if I understand correctly what you want.
  23. Yes, I believe that if you have edited an automatic roof plane and turned off auto rebuild it will lock the roof plane and build down on you. You could turn auto rebuild back on but that is a whole new can of worms likely in your situation so transform and replicate is possibly the best solution at this point. See :https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/1501/locking-and-protecting-roof-planes.html?playlist=95 starting at 2:30 min.
  24. Bill, Did you try this one: https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/13005-lowpoly-3d-vehicle-models/?do=findComment&comment=111643
  25. Yes you can create a thin yurt wall that is 1/2" or 5/8" with two layers and this will allow you to install windows and doors. The stock lattice that I used to demonstrate would not look great but you could make custom material to more realistically represent the yurt structure.
