  1. No problem Mike, Do it the same way I used to move roof planes before I knew there was a special tool. Select room polyline CTRL + X then move to the new floor and CTRL + ALT + V
  2. Yes Mike, If this format is different than any other layerset you are currently using just make a copy of one that is close and change the name and edit it for layers and line styles etc... If you select the exterior room you can save a bunch of tracing time by hitting the "Make Room Polyline" Tool.
  3. limitless, Have you tried to compress the file by zipping? If that does not work I use Microsoft OneDrive https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-ca/ and they still have 5 GB of free storage and file sharing. There are also many other cloud services available.
  4. Here is a poly converter that Richard posted.
  5. Very interesting. Could you post the plan?
  6. Have you checked to see if all of the individual layers in the set are off and not locked?
  7. Rich, Brian is aware of the issue and it seems that you need to have "Framing, Wall " turned on in the layer that you generate the camera view from. Also may not work with 2 3D views open unless they are both displaying framing.
  8. Michael, Solid Black line style, line weight 25, 3D Framing Set. This raytrace problem may be related to the size of the structure as I am not sure that Michaels shed compares to what Rich and I are doing. I just raytrace a 100 sq. ft. shed's stud framing without issue and also not that it is directly related I was able to send smaller images to layout in the tech ill style as plot lines without issue. If Rich and I are getting the same results then it cant be the classic NVIDEA vs. AMD issue although it could be a 2 GB limitation but I don't see that as valid issue here because Rich does great ray tracing all the time. Could someone pull out a file that is a little larger and more complete framing system and give it a raytrace in standard view?
  9. Rich are you sending ray traces to layout because of this problem. Plot lines with no color fill shows up as only shadows for me.
  10. Never tried ray tracing wall framing before but I think you have made a discovery here Rich. Good work. Good thing I notched those psolid corner posts. They are holding up the whole building.
  11. Mike, make your railing a panel rail and select the wrought iron symbol from the library and assign it as the panel or apparently now in X9 you can just apply it right from the library in 3D.
  12. Did you get the reminder to activate your official product key before Wed of last week? If not the new version may not have overwritten it and if you did not have the official product key for the new download it may not be accessible for you to use. Strange though that you still have access to 19.0.3.50 which means that you must have the official product keys. There is the option to migrate library's in X9.
  13. Many thanks to Mark for a great presentation and Scott for hosting this meeting. I will post the recording when it has all uploaded. Sorry that I missed Scott's introduction as I was sorting out an audio issue that took me a few minutes, but there is still 3 hours of seriously deep cabinet discussion here that you will likely have to watch many times over to understand it all.
  14. There I fixed it. See if you notice the difference. Also cut down the poly count. Red Generic Pickup.calibz
  15. Do you have the basic Red Pickup from Chief Bonus Vehicles? Red Pickup.calibz Open up the materials and change white to "opening no material"
  16. You should be able to find something here: https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=road vehicles&backendClass=both
  17. Will, I would be quite interested in learning more about import file formats as I have been working with .stp, .stl, and .igs files this week with mixed results. Maybe you and I and Ivan could get together and discuss the options. I also think that there may be more options for you working within Chief that would allow you to be less reliant on import files if you are unable to find a good solution there. Do you also build log structures or primarily timber frame?
  18. Eric, Did you try to adjust your active camera and nothing happened? Also adjust your plan defaults and open a new camera and nothing changes?
  19. Take a careful look at the log a see if there is anything that does not make sense and be thankful that you are only about 6 hours in and thought to check it already. Often there are hours from a recycled file or template. Just delete them.
  20. Lynsey, You can take a look at this other post that was a similar situation that I helped out with and did a little polyline subtracting to cope the joint with the molding polyline. I am still not sure it is possible to get a true miter when working on a curve unless you turn the whole unit into a symbol or hire Yusuf. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/11548-wainscotingmolding/
  21. Eric, There are some new features in X9 and the one that you may be having trouble with is called "Ambient Occlusion" which is now available in Standard view. Try opening your active camera and reducing that or turning it off altogether if you want the same look as X8. You can also preset that in plan defaults for each camera that is opened.
  22. Good news Glenn, I will give that a try when I get back to the other project. I need to do a similar thing with a fixture symbol so maybe I will have better luck with it. Strange how each type of symbol has it's own rules, but no mention of it in the manual. I may need your help if you would be willing.
  23. That is one of CA's weaknesses, a symbol can be stretched and contorted in a bunch of different ways but not physically changed. What I do is create an Architectural Block or Cad Block of some of my more complicated items that I anticipate needing to edit and save them in the library as well.
  24. Kenneth, I believe that once you break the railing wall you must turn auto frame off and manually fix the framing and decking. I was messing around with a situation like this yesterday so if Michael has a better solution I would also love to hear about it. Check your digital locker for X9 it should be there if your SSA is in good standing or you will have to wait a little longer.
