  1. Any chance you are using a cloud service tor your data files ? Also try an take note of the exact sequence that causes the issue... 3D view, Elevation view, etc. I believe there are 7 toolbar types and 6 or maybe 5 stock toolbar configurations.
  2. Hi buzz, So it opens fine initially and then crashes your toolbar when you open a plan file, or when you change views that would trigger a new toolbar configuration ? What action caused it to crash and it looks like maybe it does not crash completely but leaves you in a corrupted state ? If it was a bug, I think others would be seeing the same thing. I am almost thinking it might be a memory issue or a corrupt directory.
  3. Ouch. I think the two of you need to compare and post driver versions before everyone updates. @Kbird1 usually keeps up with these things.
  4. That would be completely dependent on new users buying in at $1,995 per year. Obviously the first year there would need to be significantly more new users than the normal number that would be paying $3,295 or some promotional rate. If that does not work the whole thing is off to a bad start.
  5. Yes it is very confusing to me that AutoCad uses so many colors to keep things all organize and clear for the designer but then everything is printed in Black and White. Chief Architect allows not only the designer but the end user of the drawings to benefit from that when the drawings are printed in color. If you combine colors and line weights it can be quite effective and make the drawings much easier and faster to read while reducing interpretation errors. Color prints are more expensive but as we move to a more paperless age that becomes more and more irrelevant.
  6. I really don't think there is a way to directly compare and come up with that using chief's global's. When you build your model, do you actually use the attic level or assign it as level 3 typically. I suppose you could send each of the %layout.label% results to a custom global and analyze how many have been accumulated and assign the Attic label to the highest number. It may be easier to just manually set up a page and then delete it if is not required or delete the Level 2 if it is not required and Attic would become Level 2 also if for some reason you had a four level build just duplicate Level 2 to become Level 3 and Level 4 would become the Attic.
  7. Did you try %layout.label% or am I missing something more complicated ?
  8. No sorry that is not possible with the entire plan file. The best you could do is export a PDF or .dwg file for a 2D trace over situation. Perhaps the project would make the upgrade worthwhile for you. Also this to consider:
  9. I think Chief uses 3ds Max for most of their catalog symbol creations. @Adrean can confirm that. There may actually be more that can be done in Chief if you want to post your specific issues in the General Q & A forum. Apart from that Sketchup is quite versatile and compatible with Chief for import and export so that might be an option for you.
  10. Any style option in the door dbx other than "Library" or Default if you have that set to use a Library door.
  11. Also check what shader model your card supports as you might even encounter issues with x13. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03146/identifying-the-shader-model-of-your-graphics-card-in-windows.html
  12. Pretty sure you will not be able to run anything 3D in X14 with a GTX 960. You may need to roll back to X13 and try that for now. Not much good for your existing X14 plan files but if you are between projects that might work. I believe you will need a 10 series card for X14 and if you want to use the RTRT then it needs to be an RTX card preferably a 3070 or better.
  13. Yes you are correct but it is possible to make them look like the actual finished house like the OP posted.
  14. Most of that stuff is tediously hand built and if you are proficient in Sketchup may be a little easier to create and import and could allow more detail. Personally I don't Sketchup and try to use Chief for as much as I possibly can to improve my skills. You may find a few items posted on the forum that you could download that people have shared during discussions. I know there are a few threads on those 3D Spanish roof tiles that Joe and I have posted a few things. (If you have a decent video card that will handle high surface counts without bogging out)
  15. You will likely need to ask that question on the Home Designer forum but I can tell you even the average user that has Premier would find it challenging to accurately include some of those details in a plan. They are not standard library items by any means and definitely not 1 click. If you search this forum a bit you will find discussions on most of the items you are asking about but some of the tools will be different in HD. P.S. The image you posted seems to be the actual house and not the HD model so you may need to curb your expectations a little bit.
  16. No I don't believe so. That would be a feature request at this point. However if you were to decide that level 3 is to be referred to as Attic that would be fairly simple. Unless there was a way to reference the room label or some part of the room definition but that would be a little more complicated.
  17. Sorry but what is it that you need to compare ? Or is it just floor 3 needs to be labeled as "Attic" and you don't regularly build 4 level homes or full 3 level homes. "So I'm still on the saga of writing code for a template. I've found good solutions to the above although, my wonderful operating 3 line roof label was scrapped by the client...admittedly, I wasn't able to find a control which would automatically point my arrow in the downward slope, I ended up using a layer control for that which was far from ideal. (Perhaps someone knows how to get a symbol arrow head and a continuous line character that populates into a variable length arrow [the ASCII code doesn't have the options]. Also a manner in which to be able to formulate the direction of the arrow. A review of the properties list on %object_properties% for a roof plane didn't give me any math upon which to create any logic.)" You could use a Unicode arrow but no way that I see to automate the direction to show down slope. See this thread:
  18. You can get a free copy of Trueview from Autodesk for situations such as these. https://www.autodesk.com/viewers
  19. You have a second copy of what looks to be the driveway outline way down to the left of 0,0 that will exaggerate your extents. Delete it in Chief or Realtime.
  20. That would be a manual process. You could suppress all but one of the labels for a series of trusses and reposition the remaining label but you would then need to provide the line or arrow with cad. Perhaps you need a truss schedule to jazz it up and keep it organized ?
  21. Yes that is not a problem. Just use the roof directives in the wall dbx to create the upper pitch change and the truss will follow it.
  22. Those roof labels are a little quirky with limited options. Usually the best you can do is add some spaces and use a transparent text style and text above and below won't center so best to keep it all above or below unfortunately.
  23. Hi Mark, It seems there are a bunch of issues. The reason the setting that Ryan is suggesting is not available is because your rafters are not set to be framing. Then if you don't want your rafters showing on the outside you need to make a bunch of changes to your settings. This may not be exactly what you were after but those are the setting to play with to make the adjustments required. The rafter trim is based on the sub fascia depth.
  24. Because you have auto rebuild terrain turned off and the terrain has been altered and needs to be rebuilt.
  25. For that you will need to pick a panel from the library or custom build one of your own.
