  1. It does not look promising unless .dwg would be acceptable.... https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/import-or-insert-graphics-into-visio-drawings-f05e556d-a158-4e16-9bd8-5d45071c9b8c
  2. It would not hurt to check that to be sure it is set the same on both computers.
  3. There is also a "File Locking" setting in Preferences but not sure if that could be a factor or not.
  4. Just an empty plan file should be about 2-3 MB for the template information alone. Something seems to happen if the file is uploaded while it is still open and less data is contained in the file so check the file size.. I would think a nearly complete plan would have some size like maybe 15 - 40 MB. Possibly the upload to the cloud account is having the same issues.
  5. That seems to be the same message you get when someone uploads a plan file to the forum here while the file is still open. Is there anything more than the file shell based on the size ?
  6. First of all do the foundation last. You can edit a cad detail. It will just be tedious and you will not have any of the automation available in plan view. If you anticipate a lot of revisions then the three plan file approach would make the most sense.
  7. Give this a try Rene. upper_layers.to_a[0].material_data.quantity
  8. When you send to layout there is an option "Current Screen As Image" . However if it is a plan view it will be primarily cad so I think a Cad Detail From View would work much better, take less memory, and leave you the option of adding to the view or doing some minor edits if necessary and the detail will remain live. Use the Images for camera views that you don't want to update.
  9. The deck height is controlled by the deck room DBX (Dialogue Box) Set it so it is the same or just below the entrance landing. Room height also controls where the roof builds.
  10. Yes I was suspicious that might be a problem so it may be necessary to relink unfortunately.
  11. Those library tool icons reference the actual library object file so the file path needs to be identical for it to work on a different machine.
  12. Not that you were wrong as the material orientation in the library is displayed as vertical. Sometimes a little difficult to always remember how different objects automatically orient materials though.
  13. What did the original material look like ? Sometime sleep will help the situation....
  14. Pretty sure that should work for you but it is not technically the "selected point" but the "Current Point" which is not selected but the most recently placed point. Not sure if that was just a typo or if that was a misunderstanding but it is an important detail. Hope that helps.
  15. Interesting. You may want to submit the corrupt file to tech support so if it is an issue it does not end up in X15.
  16. I actually still have X8 installed so I went back and gave it a try with the Core Catalog Rectangular Craftsman Set and it all seems to work fine even deleting half the chairs and copying the rest back over to the empty side as you described. Multi select or single select and the selected item comes to the top group. Maybe post your set as a library item or a plan file with the set in it and I can give it a try.
  17. Drawing Groups were much simpler in X8. Select the table and then use the Drawing Group tool to move it to the front over top of the chairs. That video was done using X9. Update for more controls if you can.
  18. Good plan. Please let us know if you find the answer as sometime a reminder like this is all that is needed. There is a setting in General Plan Defaults that is for doors and windows... "Ignore Casing When Resizing Wall Openings" This could be a specific problem. Most of the edit behavior type setting are in Plan Defaults which will not change from plan to plan.
  19. It really helps if you explain your situation because it is quite likely that others will face the same or a similar situation. You can not turn off Auto Update. If you are using the same plan file to generate three different versions of the same foundation then you need to use a method already mentioned. If you want to use three different plan files or build three structures in different locations on the same plan then it might work depending on your goal. Just remember that there are thousands of hours of experience and advice given freely here so be respectful.
  20. I am not sure that there is a way to turn that functionality off so it could be a keyboard issue. Otherwise the distance of the move is set by the "Snap Unit" in General Plan Defaults. Even if you try to set that to 0 it will default to 1/256" so it may seem like it is not moving if that happened as you likely do not have your dimension defaults set finer than 1/16" so as many as 16 clicks to get a dimension to change possibly.
  21. You might need to be more specific. You would generally want things to update automatically so nothing gets missed. However there are still a few options if that does not work for you. Cad detail from view or for sections and elevations there is the option to have plot line views that are manually updated. Images rather than live camera views are also sometimes handy.
  22. Looks like maybe your roof framing is too low and the automatic birdsmouth setting is cutting the rafters level at the top plate height. Is the fireplace built with walls also ?
  23. Trusses require a ceiling and roof plane to build so you will need to provide those for the girder. Not really sure I understand the design concept or the reason for the 3 part truss but you can certainly draw it that way with Chief.
  24. I have messed around with a very similar situation of a wall framed on top of a couple of courses of CMU that looks really strange in a framing view without the concrete blocks visible. Ideally you would assign the things you want to show in a framing view as framing but that just leads you into a huge mess. I think I ended up making a duplicate that I could put on it's own layer which could be turned on and off as necessary.
  25. It appears as though you are properly aligned so it must be a material issue. If the materials are actually supposed to be different then technically you should have a division line right ?
