  1. I am not exactly sure how it all works but I would seriously consider modifying the material list rather than your wall definition.
  2. Just in case this is some sort of bug please verify what version you are using and what update you are on. Not sure if your signature is up to date or not ? "Chief Architect version X12" Complete screen shots are sometimes more helpful than you might realize.
  3. Thanks.... I've checked the lines etc and it's black... You can also set the line style and color independently of the layer. I can duplicate your results that way.
  4. The only thing that comes to mind is if the p-solid line style is either blank or a color that matches your background. This would make sense if you are using a different layer for the p-solids.
  5. That should work if the Description column is first.
  6. Only if you don't use the layering options. You can add an air space or some framing to hold the drywall up.
  7. Perhaps you have two instances of chief running and the file is open in both ?
  8. Check what it says in "Check Knowledge Base" I suspect it has something to do with File Locking but not sure. Preferences > General > File Management. File Locking: Choose whether or not to lock .plan and .layout files when they are open. File Locking prevents another program or copy of Chief Architect software from opening and modifying the same file at the same time and is recommended in nearly all circumstances. Select Use File Locking to lock files. Select Disable File Locking to disable this feature.
  9. Just to get you started other conditions to verify would be ICF and boathouse structures. It might actually be better as some sort of default of manual setting as treated plates are used in quite a few irregular situations as well as renovations when it is such a pain to replace a rotten bottom plate that most contractors would rather not ever repeat the procedure. Thanks for asking.
  10. Just like tiles but much larger. Create a material set to tile with a thin dark border and you will be good to go.
  11. Only the original poster can mark an answer as the "Solution" so if you can't make Michaels solution work give mine a try.
  12. Also it may depend on what version you are using so filling out you signature with that information would be helpful.
  13. Do you have an example or can you describe the characteristics of the opening ? There may be a few options other than a door or window.
  14. Bill, I am not sure that it is suppose to work that way. Perhaps export the PDF separately, or convert it to dxf/dwg and import that to chief and it will likely work.
  15. It is not quite that simple but can be done with macro's. Perhaps post exactly what you would like the label to look like for a specific cabinet and someone can help out. Also it will depend on what version of the software you are using so please let us know that. For future postings you can place that information in your forum signature so it is always visible. Ok so this was done in X14 and perhaps is what you are after ?
  16. Yes that is the problem but it seems Chief is wanting to maintain it that way as a sales tool. It certainly takes storage space or monitoring. Either way it is the money from my license and yours that pays for it all. If a spammer gets 50 posts for every one of yours eventually someone looses out. And it is annoying.
  17. Yes absolutely, and they do but would you rather them be spending all their time monitoring the forum or improving our software ? I think it is time for some new rules.
  18. I am pretty sure that if there was a probationary period for unlicensed members of one new topic per 24 hour period that it would take care of 95% of the spam issues. Or just give a special limited "Guest" status for the first week for unlicensed users before they become a "Member". Plenty of other forums don't let you post at all without a waiting period.
  19. Rob, I was going to give you a flat out No. However if you could work out all the cable geometry with moldings then the sections of material between the cables is essentially almost flat. You could then fill in each section with a face snapping to the intersection points of the moldings. If there is any doubt there is a guy about half way between here and there that I am sure would help out if it is possible. @yusuf-333 On the other hand a small residential type of shade sale that is not flat and only suspended by it's perimeter would be much more difficult.
  20. If it is something that is really important to render correctly you could convert to a symbol and work with the individual surfaces to apply your own materials. Just a lot of tedious work but completely possible.
  21. You should be able to rotate that right in the "Cylinder Specification" DBX Dialogue Box.
  22. Yes and they will be a bit easier to mask in for the details. Still waiting for a solution from chief though after many many requests.
