  1. It looks like Eric was able to reach the same result but it was much easier for me using X9. I just selected and deleted the four roof planes and the four walls from the All On Layer Set in Plan View. Simple enough that I figured that you would not need the plan file but now there is more of a mystery.
  2. Jeff, I took a quick look and I maybe have never tried to delete a room before because it does not seem to work. However if you select and delete the walls and roof planes it seems to get rid of everything.
  3. I am not familiar with bringing X1 plan files forward but others have suggested that sometimes bringing things forward a version or two at a time can work better. Post the plan file and maybe someone more experienced can take a look for you.
  4. Can you select it in 3D and delete ? Could just be a layers thing. What version are you using now ?
  5. Backdrops can now be set as default for each type of camera and then customized in plan for each camera individually. You can find it in Defaults listed under Camera Tools.
  6. That might work if the textures are in the same folder. You can send a complete file by selecting "Backup Entire Plan" and use the option "Backup Plan Files and All Referenced Files" this will include all your plan textures. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00987/using-the-backup-entire-plan-tool.html Also might reduce the confusion if you edited the title of the thread and exchanged "3D" for "Client" Viewer.
  7. Thanks for working that out Michael. I figured it could be done.
  8. That sounds really bad but could most likely be cleared by saving your work and closing Chief or rebooting your computer. Regardless it should be reported to tech support even if it is not reproducible. In the future you will get better "help" by posting in the Q&A forum with an appropriate title like maybe " Frozen Active Layer Display Options" . Also if you fill out your signature we will know what software you are using and your basic computer spec's.
  9. I am thinking it is not likely the video card or driver as when I open my User Library Materials folder that takes 16-17 seconds to open I get a substantial CPU activity spike ( up to 96% ) and almost nothing on the GPU. Just a little blip on the graph but the digital readout stays at 0% where as just moving the mouse can take it up over 20%.
  10. Justin, Just ran the test for you and "siding and paneling" was likely the slowest @ about 1- 1.5 seconds. Not sure if it helps but our systems should be roughly compatible.
  11. Perry there is a difference but not with respect to how it look in 3D with the cross section slider. I am not sure anything in chief is actually solid, even the solids. Can you tell me which is which.
  12. Justin, Your 30-45 seconds must seem like an eternity. I migrated and updated my core library over into X10 and it seems to open almost instantly. Curious what the problem might be. Is your hardware getting outdated ? Others have noted some slowness but not on your scale. I have a small number of very large format high resolution materials in my User Material folder and it takes 10-15 seconds to open that but some of the materials in there are experimental and just one of them is enough to crash chief when applied. You can re initialize X10 without having to delete and re-install by deleting or renaming your .ini file. This will bring up the migration options again the next time chief is opened. You can find the .ini file here : C:\Users\My PC\AppData\Roaming\Chief Architect Inc. Labeled as Chief Architect Priemier X10.ini. I would recommend the renaming procedure as that will allow you to go back if necessary.
  13. Yes that would work fine on a gable roof. Good thinking. Are you new to the software or just the forum ? Send me a PM if you have another similar project.
  14. You should be able to marquee select the purlins in a rafter cavity and extend them to the edge of the selected roof plane all at once without too much of a problem. Sorry to have not seen your post earlier but it looks like you have it working for you. I am hoping to finish and release a toolset for this purpose that will provide a little more automation to the process sometime soon but I have been really busy.
  15. Glad you got that sorted Mick, I had not thought of filters as a possibility.
  16. Hi Tony, There have been a couple of recent discussions on this topic. Take a look : This method may also be able to be applied to a job like yours :
  17. David, Does "Higher Eaves Boxed" do anything for the situation ?
  18. That would be a great idea. Love to see what you did and how it worked out.
  19. Have you tried the Join Roof Planes tool ? Or if that is what you are using and there is no way it will work, you can rotate the baseline in plan view or tilt it using the Baseline Angle: setting in the Roof Plane Specification DBX under the General Tab at the bottom. Failing that, post the plan file and someone will have a look for you.
  20. Open the room DBX and check that Fill Style Type: is set to None. If it is it could be the stuck selection bug. If so it will clear itself when you save and close then reopen the file. Chief is working on this but feel free to send it in so they can dedicate more resources to it.
  21. Thanks Mick, I assume you suggested that we need defaults for independent upper and lower header "caps" as well as control of the spacing and position of the headers based on your cross sections ? Most of my contractors are now framing the way you do but it is a lot of work making everything look correct for them.
  22. When I tried a new window with 2 headers the one label displayed as Eric posted and the other was automatically suppressed but can be activated and moved if you like.
  23. Thanks Eric, I think that is what Bill needs but I did not realize they had it working that way now until I drew a fresh window.
  24. Mick It looks like you may have to recreate your .ini file but I think that gives you the option to import your X9 Libraries not your B2 Libraries.
