  1. So then does it suggest which unit is corrupted and does my example fit the same scientific notation formula ? If I have the math correct my example would work out to 790" or 65.8333' so is it rounding off at some point ? I assume you sent a plan file in to tech support and it worked fine for them ? Indicating the issue is in Preferences.
  2. Glenn, Sorry to hear you have not been able to resolve this issue. Is it happening in a fresh plan or default template or plans brought forward ? Can you figure out if the mathematical relationship makes any sens like my issue did. Maybe a Meter measurement using Millimeter units ?
  3. Here is Yusuf's video using 3D Molding Polylines and Faces for a Wireframe Modeling Technique. This is essentially how everything in chief is built anyway so this is an absolute core function that has tremendous flexibility and potential. This can be done accurately and quickly once you get the hang of it. Many thanks to : @yusuf-333
  4. Yusuf has an interesting method that would work well for that and chimney caps using faces. I will look for the video when I have a chance.
  5. That should work for anything new you draw but will not change something existing. Is that what happened ?
  6. Try the 3D warehouse: https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?backendClass=entity&q=Garbage bin
  7. Some walls have roof planes cutting into them but it may have to wait till tomorrow as I am running out of daylight. The stone on the wall beside the entrance would not cooperate so I replaced it with a wall material region. Used the Wall Layer Intersections tool a few places. I was a little rough with the file so you may want to just check the settings on anything that you see that you like and transfer them over to your original plan. Possibly could have broken more than I fixed. Permit Plans Rus Res HEIGHTS Chopped.zip
  8. Ok that works. The blue walls can be fixed by opening the wall definition for your Siding-4 and changing the Siding Pattern to your Mountain Sage.
  9. Try looking in ALDO ( Active Layer Display Options ) the third one over from Preferences usually. ALDO is great because it will find all those layers for you just by selecting the room.
  10. No sorry it is still empty. Did you close the file in Chief ? You can also fill out your signature info by clicking on the dropdown beside your name at the top right of the page and go to Account Settings.
  11. I will take a look for you but the plan file must have been open when you zipped or uploaded because it is empty. Please save and close then try again. Also it is helpful to know what version you are using if you could permanently put that in your signature.
  12. That can happen sometimes when a wall is painted. To fix it you can open the Wall DBX and go to the Materials tab, select the Exterior Wall Surface from the Components list and then click the Select Material Button below where the material is displayed and then from the top of the Plan Materials list or the check box at the bottom of the Library Materials return to the "DEFAULT MATERIAL" and then it can be painted again or while you are there you can assign the proper material.
  13. Thanks guys, That is a real help and it looks like if people want to use the wall definition for paint layers the suggestion Charles made has good merit.
  14. So that kinda blows the theory of not painting walls then doesn't it. What is the proper procedure ? As most drywallers do not leave exposed studs for the painters.
  15. If the drywall is part of the main layer of the wall that could possibly happen but there is limited information here for anything more than a guess.
  16. Same problem in the North East with SPF and you can create a new framing material and call it what you wish then apply that to your wall and framing defaults. Not so sure why everyone does not use SPF as it seems it would work on most of the continent.
  17. I find that I occasionally have to roll the mouse wheel with my second finger while holding the left mouse button with the index finger. It is a little awkward but works when necessary.
  18. Sounds like you have reviewed this thread but the skylights really ramp up the difficulty level. You might consider distribution lines with symbols but you may also have to use individual tile symbols to surround the skylight or even solids if you need to do any cutting of tiles.
  19. It is just a math thing 495 x 2 - 556
  20. That looks great Alan, also seems like sketchfab has improved their rendering quality since I checked it out last. Thanks for posting.
  21. James your example is a little worse than the current capabilities of the software however you still have offset in your good example and you should send in both to tech support and if they hear from enough people it will eventually get fixed.
  22. That looks good Jerry, the only thing I would do differently would be to use a 3pc. molding profile rather than the soffits. If I have time I may try a totally different technique later but not sure if it will work until I try. Edit: Sorry that Idea fell flat on it's face in the mud.
  23. Sorry the ones I randomly checked were available back to 2014. https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/collection.html?id=ua09415ea-83e3-4e71-9332-186eb1c2c3da
  24. Just let us know if you need specific clarification on an issue as you go and we will try to help. This is a little beyond the general chief knowledge base or training video's so it is great to see someone like you giving it a try. I just sent in a bug report today on one of the procedures that is a little confusing in the way it functions so that is how the software keeps improving when people like you and your customers keep on asking great questions. If this ceiling is all you need to finish off a plan then it might be a good idea to make a test plan of the basic room size and try out some of the suggested procedures and then you can also post that file or create some screen shots so we can see your progress.
