  1. Ok so you can not actually turn off the Gable Sub Fascia so you made is as small as possible and it created an artifact. It seem that it can be deleted if necessary as I did with the Eave Sub Fascia in the previous soffit generated example. The plumb and square rafter Heel cuts I was referring to in post 18 may not be the correct terminology but it is the area where the rafter is cut at the outside edge of the top wall plate that I circled in red.
  2. The fire is on. You might want to consider another look at the rafter tail theory as it may be a little cleaner overall. I am not getting the artifact that Eric did and I am not really sure what that is. The only issue I see is the soffit gives you a plum cut rafter heel and the rafter tail gives you a square cut rafter heel, if that matters.
  3. Just did a quickie test plan and it looks like you should be able to do a transparent ( Insulation Air Gap ) soffit material and a 5 1/2" sub fascia and then manually delete the sub fascia. The custom rafter tail seems like it should work but this might be easier.
  4. In 3D views the CTRL button actually does the opposite and slows down the wheel zoom and the bonus is that CTRL + SHIFT gives you another whole level fine of precision.
  5. Mick, I got Nvidia v.388.13 with windows v. 1709 and don't seem to be noticing any issues but am aware of a problem the newer versions have in Adobe Reader that seems to not be fixed yet, but that problem happened after v. 378.92 Any additional details on the "weirdness" and what I should be watching for would be great. Also is Chief and or Nvidia aware. Thanks for the warning and detailed posting.
  6. The texture file is just a picture so you can search for one on the internet or photograph a wall that has been built that way or even mock one up on your screen with chief and take a screen shot. All with differing levels of quality depending on the lighting and resolution.
  7. Can you import both and then paint the materials from the 3DS onto the SKP ? How are you specifying the size for the 3DS file ?
  8. Sorry my internet is slow but I have had to do psolid soffits for several situations that chief does not handle properly so it can be done.
  9. Looks like you will be installing 3/8" bead board polyline solid panels to get it all technically correct or just make that an entire roof layer under the OSB if sections are not so critical.
  10. Not so sure that is an automatic function. How are you doing it in real life ? Usually that style is to show off your decorative t&g sheeting not OSB.
  11. Hello Greg, This is where you will find all the latest info and Yes I do believe it will be worthwhile renewing your SSA. https://www.youtube.com/user/ChiefArchitectInc
  12. Here are the original instructions of Michael's and you can just substitute desk symbol for molding.
  13. Yusuf and Michael had something worked out for that type of situation that involved making the object a window symbol and applying it to the curved wall to take on the curve of the wall. Maybe you could post the Desk and I could give it a try or Michael might be able to provide some more detail for you.
  14. I always get so frustrated with this stuff because there really is now way of knowing where the error is without survey field notes or GPS data. It could be just one error or multiple cumulative errors or even worst case scenario of a major error looking not so bad by another error that compensates for it. If the lot is relatively flat you could measure between the pins you have located and maybe find a few more to verify with or rent a metal detector and try and find them all. Where my lines overlap in not necessarily any indication there is an error at that particular corner. Or just let the surveyors do their thing as it may be required in the end anyway.
  15. Sorry I was off duty for a bit there but thank you Michael for filling in as always. Is it working ok now ?
  16. Not really a cabinet guy but I would think the only way to do that would be with a symbol of a cabinet door.
  17. Their size is controlled by the Text Style used by the Cameras Layer. Accessible through Active Layer Display Options when selected.
  18. It depends on how detailed you need to be but most of the the critical elevations can be looked up quite quickly and cad lines set to those elevations. I usually always double check those numbers anyway so in effect you are saving a step. Have a play with the cad detail anyway and see how it goes.
  19. Go to Settings> System> About> Windows Specifications> Version _________ Or Windows Key +R and enter ( winver) It told my friend that his video card was not compatible with the new version.
  20. Andy are you running windows 10 and if so have you received the 1709 Fall Creators Edition Update yet ? A friend just did and has major problems.
  21. Open the wall and go to the Wall Surface in Materials the select the material and return it to it's default from the top of the list in plan materials or the check box at the bottom of the Library Materials DBX then it should be happy again.
  22. I think I saw something in the X10 Trailer Video that might suggest they are already working on this concept.
  23. Taking a look at any available neighbouring surveys may answer some of your questions but officially you may need a new survey. Good Luck.
  24. I was able to replicate a Storypole dimension setup manually in X7 with the existing tools that looked the same as the previews for X8 at the time but it was totally manual however there was something nice about level of control it gave. I used cad lines for some of the snap points but even though I have not tried it yet a cad detail from view could be overlaid for all the snap points you would ever need, but again not live, but maybe that is what you are looking for as it does have it's benefits.
