Usually the truss company will specify all necessary connectors. Depends on the uplift potential. USP RT3A on one of my recent builds.

SOLVED - X10 Crash: Elevations on Multiple Monitors
Chopsaw replied to BenPalmer's topic in General Q & A
Oh Sorry I forgot I have not done the latest CA update as there was nothing in the notes that applied to my situation. Will give it a try and let you know. -
Displaying Original Terrain and modified terrain
Chopsaw replied to BradAtHarmony's topic in General Q & A
If you are wanting to see this in 3D then you can create a symbol of the original terrain and then in a new plan file edit your existing terrain data to reflect the new elevations. If it is just 2D that you need create a cad detail from view of the existing contours and place that on a dedicated layer so it can be turned on and off as required. -
SOLVED - X10 Crash: Elevations on Multiple Monitors
Chopsaw replied to BenPalmer's topic in General Q & A
No problem here but have not updated my driver for a while as I am waiting to hear back from Nvidia on a 3D PDF display issue that I sent in. Possibly roll back to a known good driver. Does it have anything to do with plan file size ? -
Improper Plant Order / Clipping from Camera
Chopsaw replied to WhistlerBuilder's topic in General Q & A
Yes I believe there are issues with plants and layering that have been posted in the past and may not be resolved yet. Definitely something that should be sent in to tech support with the plan file and a good clean description of the issue. One general trick that may help is to CTRL + X and then CTRL + ALT + V just to see if a reinsertion may help. I think the last issue I saw posted was plants and people not layering properly which would be even more obvious. -
Go back to where you turned on signatures and fill out your own signature. Include the important stuff like your version of Chief and your operating system, cpu specs, ram, storage system, video card and driver version. And keep it updated so others know if they can be helpful or not without asking a ton of questions. See my example below.

Hmm... I wonder if the licence is still available. Maybe CA could provide some assistance in a situation like this.

Line being dimensioned to doesn’t show up in plan view?
Chopsaw replied to DCB123's topic in General Q & A
You have a Polyline solid that appears to represent the perimeter of the porch slab. Just make sure the CAD,Default 2 layer is turned on in the view you are looking at and you should be able to snap your dimensions to that as it has a black line for the perimeter that is set to 18. -
Line being dimensioned to doesn’t show up in plan view?
Chopsaw replied to DCB123's topic in General Q & A
Doug, You have a vast selection of polylines and polyline solids in the immediate vicinity of the note with arrows. I do not see one set to lime green. Your default cad lines are pink which could cause a printing issue depending on your printer and settings. There is a blue cad line coming over from the right side that is set to blue but does not carry through to the left side ? Need a little more info to be able to help. -
Line being dimensioned to doesn’t show up in plan view?

Can the line be selected ? If not look through your locked layers. Maybe the roof baseline. Or any number of other things. You may need to post the plan file for this one. -

This thread has some good information that will help you get stared : -
Just in case you run into this situation again, something very similar came up in a more recent post. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/17460-interior-wall-material-wrapping/?do=findComment&comment=147650

Thanks for sharing. That is a very effective way to communicate. You could copy this over to Tips and Techniques so it does not get lost.

Using a saved camera for walkthrough camera duties...
Chopsaw replied to chomper's topic in General Q & A
Yes this is an issue but maybe a better idea that I think I have heard suggested before would be the ability to open the walkthrough camera in a static view, possibly even at each key frame to assist with the setup angles, before recording. Or even the ability to setup the walkthrough path in camera view by just selecting key frames along the path. -
Thanks Doug, For those of you who may have been interested in this but do not have a copy of AutoCad, it all appears to function as Doug describes above using the free version of Autodesk DWG TrueView. https://www.autodesk.com/products/dwg/viewers I will be doing some more experimenting with this in the near future. Seems promising.

Using a saved camera for walkthrough camera duties...
Chopsaw replied to chomper's topic in General Q & A
I think the key thing here is that we need to be able to save our walkthrough camera setups because I often like to use the walkthrough at several key stages of the build and to document revisions. But generally I would use a wider field of view for an interior walkthrough than my normal working camera. However I also do exterior walkarounds and would use typically a wider field of view than my working Perspective View camera. Also I do flyovers and use a much narrower field of view to reduce distortion. This all leads up to my problem of being able to combine these paths and ultimately these field of view controls should be within the walkthrough DBX so that it could be adjusted depending on the size of the room or if you are inside or outside or just for creative reasons. I also usually eliminate the Clip and reduce the Move Distance and Rotate Angle. -
Your Quite welcome and feel free to turn off layers and delete stuff you know you will not need so it will be faster for you.

My apologies, I don't work with metric regularly enough. Select the entire file and transform and replicate Resize by a factor of 1000 then select the polyline I used to trim with and make it the size of what you would like your terrain to be and convert it to the Terrain perimeter. Then you will need to select the terrain polylines and convert them to elevation lines and assign them the correct elevation.

Let me know if this is manageable or at least does not crash your computer so you can continue on. Lot 8.plan
-
Ok let me try then. Hang on a moment. How much around the lot perimeter do you need ?
-
Try using edit area.
-
It is a little slow but I seem to be able to import ok. I could import and crop to the center lot if you could just remind me what version you are using now and save it as chief file for you.

Finally a chance to help you David, In your Door Schedule Specification DBX under the Label tab deselect "Use Callout for Label"

There are some standard partitions in the Core Catalog. Architectural > Fixtures > Partitions. They are however all symbols so it is critical that you understand Stretch Planes and Zones if resizing is required.
