I think there must be an issue with Square cut rafters still. I ran into a similar situation several versions ago and it may not be exactly the same but I sent all my stuff in at the time. It may be related to SIP but I have not done SIP before. Please send it in to tech support. In the mean time replace layer 4 of your SIP with "Insulation Air Gap" for your rendered views. Let us know if tech support comes up with something better.

Bob, Save the image from the website rather than doing a screen capture as I suspect you did. Right click on your User Catalog folder in the Library > New > Material Use the .png file as the Texture Source and name the material and set it to "Stretch to Fit" Apply to easel and maybe try making the easel a little bit closer to square to reduce the distortion factor. That should be about it. Jesus and Kids material.calibz

Chop, I know, but there are no options I haven't tried that I can see in the material dbx etc. to fix it. Yes there is no way to do it directly in Chief. It would be best to go back to the original screen capture or do it in a photo editor. Post the website link if you need help.

Somehow your image is not full frame. It needs to be borderless.

Much better Joe. However I think the Text box in the Cad Block solution is better than your Idea of adding to the symbol or chiefs original way of a cad line in the Cad Block. It would appear to address the concerns raised. It gives a proper Standard and Vector Illustration and a clean 2d cad block as well as the ability to maintain the correct bounding box and symbol size. A little help from Chief and it could all be a little less complicated for a beginner.
-
Yes it just does not seem right when a 3D program that relies on 2D documentation can't figure out a proper sync. Not quite Joe. Yes you could do a custom 2d cad block but your spacers show up in Vector view. Not your fault by any means but just another chief limitation. If we had general access to "No Material" there would be many more workaround opportunities.
-
I had considered that and observed the same problem but the OP requested a front and back offset so there was not a full solution there.
-
There, that is the ticket. The confusion comes with the new bounding box display in the Symbol DBX that appears to be doing just what you want with the origin offset. But it is just an illusion. Possibly Fixtures would benefit from the "Distance from Wall" setting that Electrical Fixtures have ?

2D cad blocks do not recognize line styles or colors. The rich text box is something I recently learned from Michael but I still don't understand why the 3D bounding box has no apparent effect on the auto generated 2D cad block. It seems Chief still has a lot more work to do on symbols to make them a little more friendly.

This has been requested many times but apparently not enough yet. For now you may be able to get away with just painting with "Opening (no material)" and replacing the outer stringers with polyline solids by creating a Cad detail from view of a section to use to snap the new stringers to. However that will only work for a standard view. If you need to show a vector illustration you may need to also replace the treads so that you can use a manual railing and turn the "Stairs & Ramps" layer off all together in camera view. Another workaround would be to use "No Material" but that is also not an option as of yet. If that does not make any sense, post your plan file and someone will help out.

Give this a try Casey. Not so sure everything I had to do should have been necessary. Ran across one bug that I have already reported and has not been fixed and may have found several more but don't have time to send them all in right now. Attached symbol is hopefully a functional workaround. Washer Dryer FL Pair.calibz

Or maybe even if the program would allow Number Styles to be saved uniquely for each Dialogue Box with the option of turning that off for those it would confuse much like the "Modify All Layer Sets" toggle in ALDO. Also thanks for the reminder to use decimal inches when in doubt.

How about a 3D Symbol ? https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search/?q=chevy suburban

It looks like the default material for ceilings in Chief is the same as the color used for the trim rings of the can lights which may be causing the issue. Also the "Lighting White" lens may not be a recognized material. Change those up and try the export again and there should not be any issues with exporting as .dae as opposed to .3ds

Force an Interior Door to be Indicated and Tabled as an Exterior Door
Chopsaw replied to contractcad's topic in General Q & A
You just need to define your Garage with an exterior room type as the default "Garage" room type is along with a few others. Changing the Room Name is not sufficient. -
If it is a framing schedule you are using it can be accomplished with a custom macro placed in the label of the framing member and reported in the Schedule. It is a bit of work and there might be a simpler way but it will work. You can then edit the Label column name to say what you like.

x11 Errors - Lost Tool Bars and Can't Open any Plans
Chopsaw replied to misterwiley's topic in General Q & A
Sorry Kyle, Bad news as I get the same error message. I was hoping that it was something simple and the Header could possibly be repaired so I took a look at the coding of the file and not that I have any clue what it all means but you file has only one line while another plan file I checked to compare that was much smaller in size than yours has 170,000 some lines. Definitely something to run by tech support in the morning or sometimes @Dermot will comment here after hours on his own time. -
It might be easier to use a semi-transparent mask or hatch pattern and just go with a lighter color and or broken line rather than a lighter line weight.

I think you would need two separate files and turn one into a symbol and import into the other file. Likely the historical one. Is this an archaeology project or do you have an existing and proposed grade.

WHERE THE HECK ARE THE WINDOW/DOOR HEADER DEFAULTS?
Chopsaw replied to Renerabbitt's topic in General Q & A
Can't seem to duplicate with my test plan. Are you sure the door and two lower window header labels are actually automatic ? The 4 x 12 is the nominal size and that seems to be the way the Automatic Label is set up just the way it was a few versions ago when we asked for more control. You must have %Formatted Depth% in there for the door somewhere. Post a sample plan file and I will have a look. -
WHERE THE HECK ARE THE WINDOW/DOOR HEADER DEFAULTS?
Chopsaw replied to Renerabbitt's topic in General Q & A
Framing > Openings. Looks like quite a mess Rene. Hope you can get it straightened out. Is it possible the Wall Detail got tweaked ? -
Tech support was able to reproduce, and has logged the issue.

You will also need to post the plan file the layout file references. P.S. Your scale is 3/16 not 3/8

Have you tried making the Symbol column narrower ?
