I have all of my macro packages done but I still need to do the documentation. I'm kind of swamped with projects right now but I'll try to get them all ready by the end of the month.

It will work if the objects are the same type, but if you select even one that isn't the same it doesn't work. example: Garage Door Doorway That doesn't work.
-
No, you can only modify one library symbol at a time. It would be difficult for CA to provide for editing multiple objects due to the fact that they might not have the same set of parameters. IAE, there's no setting for the Layer Set - only the Layer.

Chief Architect "BattleStation" Desk Setups
Joe_Carrick replied to CFaasDFCo's topic in General Q & A
See my signature. Both screens are 55" 4K TVs. I just like to be able to have text as large as possible to minimize the need to zoom in and out.- 25 replies

Actually, for some callouts there is an interactive capability. Chief has been making improvements in this area over the last few versions. When this get's implemented it will I'm sure have such a feature.

Check my suggestion in this thread: Elevation Callouts It wouldn't hurt to post another suggestion referencing that thread

You have to either make that adjustment to the cooktop before inserting it into the cabinet. Alternatively you can select the symbol itself. In plan view select the cabinet then hit tab to get to the CAD Block Instance. Open it and on the 3D panel you can adjust the origin offsets. This is of course the procedure in X15. Prior versions are slightly different. Please edit your signature so we know what version you are using.
-
You need to adjust the y & z origin values of the 3D cooktop symbol.

Correct. I meant a "polyline distribution region". For clarity I've modified my previous post. Thanks DB
-
Set your tile symbol as "Flush Mounted" and use a "Polyline Distribution Region" with the tile repeated at the desired vertical and horizontal spacing. You will need another symbol for the ridges on s 3D Molding Polyline.

try it

Chief changed some NVPs for X15. The macros would need to be revised to use the new names of the NVPs. I had to rewrite a lot of macros for X15. Anything I had done for prior versions I can't support.

MACROS for object dimensions, area, volume
Joe_Carrick replied to banelinde's topic in General Q & A
It really depends on the object. An irregular polygon can't be assumed to have a width or length. So in that case their logic makes sense. There are a lot of objects in Chief that don't have certain NVPs due to their nature. That doesn't mean the programmers don't make logic mistakes - but in most cases I would agree with them. -
MACROS for object dimensions, area, volume
Joe_Carrick replied to banelinde's topic in General Q & A
Well, %thickness% works for the vertical. For Plan Dimensions I would just use manual dimensions either with or without dimension lines, extensions & arrows. -
There's really no way to make posts a part of the room definition. You could use invisible walls to define the rooms and then use regular interior walls between the posts (no room definition) but you would have to create them offset and then move them into place after specifying them as "No Room Definition". It could be a bit tricky.
-
If you want to create walls between the posts just make the Posts "Display Level 1" so the walls are interrupted visually. That way the walls can actually form rooms but will appear to be just between the posts.

MACROS for object dimensions, area, volume
Joe_Carrick replied to banelinde's topic in General Q & A
Personally, I would use a SLAB because it has both area & volume and it also has a Label. You can change the thickness and modify the shape any way you want and the label will automatically update. -

yes of course. then you could use: %width% %depth% %height% -
MACROS for object dimensions, area, volume
Joe_Carrick replied to banelinde's topic in General Q & A
Polyline Solids (3d Solids) do not have a width NVP. For area and volume just put these in the object label %area% %volume% I believe they will be rounded to 2 decimal places in X15 automatically. -
Get a new laptop with a good video card. Intel Graphics just isn't sufficient.

Use the "Center" tool. In the meantime it will help if you edit your "Signature" as TeaTime suggested - but more like mine.
