I need an Electrician or Electrical Engineer to provide a Panel Schedule for a 2 Storey Residence. The Building Dept wants the Schedule on the plans. Please provide an estimate for this. I will provide a pdf of the electrical floor plans.
-
Alan, The best way of handling this would to select one of the 42" doors - then select same and set the selection criteria - the open the dbx of the doors that were found and make the change to Single 48". -or- Set those parameters in the Defaults prior to placing the doors in the plan.
-
So, in the door dbx, options panel - select "Single Door". As an alternative in the defaults you can select "Single Door" to prevent the automatic "Calculate from Width". It would be nice if there was a setting for what dimension should be used for "Calculate from Width" instead of the hard coded 48"

You can do that in the Ruby Console

There are a few more things to consider: volume(cu ft)/area(sq ft) = linear (inches) volume(cu ft)*area(sq ft) = derived (nonsense) volume(cu ft)/linear(inches) = area (sq ft) volume(cu ft)/volume(cu ft) = ratio (unitless) area(sq ft)/linear(inches) = linear (inches) area(sq ft)*linear(inches) = volume (cu ft) area(sq ft)/area(sq ft) = ratio (unitless) area(sq ft)/volume(cu ft) = derived (nonsense) area+/-linear = error, not allowed area+/-volume = error, not allowed volume+/-linear = error, not allowed linear(inches)/area(sq ft) = derived (nonsense) linear(inches)/volume(cu ft) = derived (nonsense) There are probably a few more Generally it's best to know what the units are and, if necessary convert to floating point values before the calculations.

Got spooked about the blue by a bad print job

But IMNSHO that should be just for the Display, not for Printing. -

I think it's automatic when color is unchecked. There may have been an option in previous versions of Chief but I don't see it in X15. -

Gene, Is your print service using a printer that suppresses blue? As you may recall, blue was originally intended to not print on some old style machines. -
It's likely that there's a problem with the value type of $a or $b. If $b isn't either a float or integer then the division will fail. I'm pretty sure the Measurement Class doesn't provide for dividing by a measurement.

Arrows and their layers, and SPV for different scale
Joe_Carrick replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
Gene, SPVs are the way to go but you need to have the defaults and layersets set to match the scale. I'm not sure if everything including the arrows will follow the SPVs, but they should. If you drag the arrow from the text (diamond handle) it should be on the same layer as the text. Also check the "Default" for Current CAD Layer. -
Hi woodmaister, The only way this will be addressed by Chief is for lots of users requesting it via suggestions. ie: suggestions@chiefarchitect.com btw, You really should provide a forum signature so we know what version you are using, your computer specs, etc.

Drywall bullnose corners are not handled by Chief. It's been asked for but it's not available and I don't expect it will ever be done.

NY concrete slab for attached garage - foundation stamp?
Joe_Carrick replied to Doyle670's topic in General Q & A
It's very likely that a 1000 sq. ft steel garage will have some columns with relatively large loads. Those would require some larger piers and only a licensed professional can provide the foundation design and sign the plans and calcs. -
Display your symbol in a new plan, Create a 3D View Export the symbol to 3DS. Then it can be imported into X14.
-
You need to post the plan. Otherwise, it's impossible to know why it's happening. It's also important to know what version of Chief you're using. You should enter that in your signature.

Here's the Template I use for all my macros. It provides for error trapping and an explanation of the code. I hate to have a macro fail with #evaluation error# so I trap errors and return an explanation of the error. I also liberally place comments in the script so I know what each section is supposed to do. ############################################# # YODA'S MACROS - X15 CERTIFIED ON 11-25-2022 # Copywrite By Joseph P. Square Surface Mounted Lights for Garage

Thanks Robert -
Does anyone have such a fixture? I need one that will connect to a switch or is automatic per occupancy sensor.
-
Correct, but there's currently no way to automate the Callout number on the Layout. That has to be done manually in the Layout Box Label. I've been asking for some NVPs so that my macro system can handle that automatically and coordinate with the Plan Callouts. Hopefully CA will be able to understand what I want when I see them next week.

I've been to Cave Creek several times. It can get pretty cold in the winter and pretty hot in the summer. Use the best possible R rating that will fit. Definitely better than what REScheck recommends but if you can go higher - do it.
-
I have a project that the city is asking for more detailed MEP than I would normally provide. Do you have any consultants you use to do plumbing diagrams and electrical panel circuit layouts? Or, are there some standard details you use?
-
In reality, Chief should automatically adjust the CAD Block. We shouldn't have to deal with it. The 3D is automatically rotated to the correct angle. If we manually do that then "Rebuild 2D Block" will adjust the CAD Block. CA just needs to make it work.
-
Create the railing wall separately (offset), "set as no room definition" and then move into the doorway.
-
This is not correct. In Plan View the 66" dimension should be 46.662". It's the projected size that is needed. Otherwise panels will overlap in Plan View.

This is a really bad detail from a structural standpoint. Relying on "blocking" to resist the loads on the cantilevered gable is silly.
