I think you should turn this into tech, subtraction method should work, it shows in your 2d plan view. Javatom method only works for square holes in roofs or maybe I need a lesson on this. Please post your results Mark, you have some very unique roofs.

Turn off your "auto rebuild roofs" and you can delete roofs in 3d or on foundation level where they reside.

Change "Build To Ext. of Layer" to the "red Iron"

Typo, "dbx" means "dialogue box", after group select and open. The box you see on the screen is the "dbx"

Very stable update, quicker reaction time in many 3d views and we get more features each update. It's the best CAD program for me and MANY, MANY others on this forum.

Largest Residential project in my career, I'm the contractor of the job and no I did not design it, but CA has been VERY beneficial in my building it. Architect has provided dwg files of all I request and this allows me to dimension areas needed for framing and make small adjustments to layout. Started Sept. 15 and setting trusses in a couple weeks, this photo shows 2nd floor diaphragm.

I do not have time to repair right now, but your roofs are not set up same. Pitch/ baseline/fascia top must be same on both roof planes for them to join seamlessly. Examples: roof plane was 11 1/16" roof pitch, baselines are of too, get all these settings correct on each roof plane and I think all will be well. Be back at dsk this afternoon

I have never tried to open a plan file from HDS, so post your plan and I will go at with results for you to ponder.

It's almost painless, room polyline, convert to slab, set height, put slab on it's own layer. You can manually pull slab out at O.H. door so it looks accurate in 3d view.

No magic answer on this issue, you'll have to do a work around. We are all guilty of replying too quickly without reading thoroughly.

More info on what you want, so many ways to put a roof on it. Lets get what you want without me guessing.

Some on this forum say "Chief is a residential" software not for commercial. It might not be the ultimate software for a 30 story skyscraper but 80% of my work is COMMERCIAL. I guess a better description would be "Light" commercial. Many structure over 20,000 sq. ft. and I just finished a 5,000 sq. ft restaurant (and I have at least a dozen other restaurant) in inventory. I was doing this type of work with C.A. since ver 9 and 10. Strip malls, vet clinics, multiple pharmacies, Auto repair centers, Yamaha dealership, tool & die shops, Ag buildings, gas stations, quick oil change are just a few of what it can do and if any want files of these projects pm me and I will share.
