Sometimes Fill Window and then looking around the edge of the screen can find a stray object ..... do you try the KB article? https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03124/troubleshooting-origin-error-messages.html M.

Including the Disappearing/Unexpected close Error Article or just the one Dermot pointed out above ? https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03049/troubleshooting-chief-architect-software-closing-unexpectedly-on-windows.html The GPU is new on the Market this year so should meet all Specs like the Shader Model 6 requirement... https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-6700-xt.c3695 Are you using Multiple Monitors by Chance and does the new Computer the Nahamic Software Installed? Here is my post about that issue.... There was no need to un-install all the Nahamic Software in my case , just the Sonic Radar Software used for 3D Audio which crashes Chief as Chief doesn't have any Audio it seems.... Nahamic Studio/Equalizer work fine for me https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/28384-multi-monitor-issue-fix-for-computers-with-nahimic-audio/?tab=comments#comment-226782 and https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/31335-known-incompatibilities-with chief-architect-software/?tab=comments#comment-246950 Might need more info on you computer hardware to help more.... you can add it to your Forum signature....so you don't get asked over and over https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/18908-signature-here-at-chief-talk/?tab=comments#comment-155662 M.

Not working on a Laptop ( make sure you don't have overheating issues ) but do have a 3080 and have found since the last release that the crashes seem to be all in older plans started in X12 , and usually in a 3D Camera , eg trying to use Mouse Orbit to rotate the Model. Mick.

No...... but if you have a backup of the old X12 Data Folder tucked away somewhere you may have a copy of the Old x12 User Library, toolbars etc available assuming you deleted the old X12 program? if it was still there and you re-installed X12 it may have been overwritten. You can see in Preferences>General>Folders where you would normally find the User Library , it's normally in the DATA Folder unless you moved it. This is on my pc but you get the Idea I hope.....

It doesn't appear "normal" to me either , so best bet as always is to post the Plan or at a minimum a Test Plan showing the Same issues if the current plan is too big even when zipped ( they downgraded the Forum from 25-14mb unfortunately) and please do your forum signature (see Others' above for examples) thanks.... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/18908-signature-here-at-chief-talk/?tab=comments#comment-155662

Unfortunately it is not just a MAC issue , many of us are seeing Issues in X13 , and I have several Clients that have also gone back to X12 as even the Standard Renders are Better. Mick
-
I am not sure either a true direct comparison is possible with PBR due to the new engine, so we'll need to relearn a few PBR "tricks" I think ..... I do know the STANDARD Renders are not the same in both versions, X12 is much cleaner and crisper..... I noted this in Beta and thought it would be fixed by time the Public Release (PR) was made..... Here is another report of the issues from just this morning https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/32674-x12-v-x13-on-mac-pc/ M.

That info should probably be added to the Blog post, the KB article on Shader 6 and System requirements as there seem to be quite a few posting about this Issue. Unfortunately not all have the budget Dermot, for even a 3060, let alone a 3080 at today's crazy pricing , and for most it isn't a matter of using the new RTRT in PBR , it a matter of even being able to use X13 at all since they can't generate ANY 3D views as you noted several days ago....... so a 900 Series card off the 2nd hand market or out of a Family members' Closet will at least mean their SSA has not been wasted this year. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/32646-are-2d-exterior-views-possible/?do=findComment&comment=256181 M.

I can now confirm a 970* will run X13, I had to take my 1070Ti out of my old system today, so stuck my old 970 in temporarily to test it, no RTRT in PBR of course but 3D looks fine to me. * Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB model Mick.

Ouch..... @CarrieS I know there are some issues on Mac according to the Known Incompatibilites page , they did release new Drivers/software last month , but I guess that didn't Help? did you talk to them ? ........ I don't have one, I use a Elecom Huge Trackball, so I can't help much more sorry..... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/known-incompatibilities.html https://3dconnexion.com/us/drivers/ Forum posts https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/26353-workaround-for-issue-using-3dconnexion-mouse-in-multiple-versions-of-chief/?tab=comments#comment-211590 https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/31845-3dconnextion-which-should-i-choose/?tab=comments#comment-250935

You haven't done your Forum signature , ( see mine for example below) so I have no idea what your computer specs are ? There is a whole new 3D Engine in Chief and HD this version around and there are quite a few who no longer meet the Specs , even though X12 and HD 2021 worked just fine. Mick.
-
This is how I did it using a Peninsula Cabinet turned into a Drawer too....
-
You should Call Sales and explain the Situation and see if they will let you Rent 2021 instead , as it has the Old 3D Engine and will likely work on your Older System until you can upgrade. Mick.

The Home Designer Series has it own Forum over here : https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/ However if you are getting an Error in X13 cos of low GPU then I'd suggest trying HD Pro 2021.... which has lower specs Even Elevation Views are technically 3D in Chief/HD , so David's advice may still not Help? You can do your Forum(s) Signature with the help of David's Video so people know what you're using both software and computer wise.... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/18908-signature-here-at-chief-talk/?tab=comments#comment-155662 Mick.

Simpson Strongtie STL Files are now available and import direct into Chief.... For all items not in the Chief Library this is worth a Shot..... All Credit to Chopsaw for the link, in another Thread, I just thought I'd post this for Other Users here in the Symbols Forum too STL works quite well ...I didn't realize Simpson was supplying them now, I sorted the page on left for STL only and there are 2700+ items.... https://www.strongtie.com/search?v=%3Arelevance%3AdrawingFileType%3ASTL&tab=drawing they all come into Chief as Porcelain material ??? but not hard to change..... Mick.

Yes with The Edit Area tool >(select)>Copy>Paste Walltypes can be saved to the User Library for re-use in future Plans , you can also put them in you Plan Templates for uses there. M.

I have never figured out why the call the Window Reveal an Overlap , never heard that term anywhere in the industry in 30+yrs..... And to make it worse the Exterior Overlap of Windows by DEFAULT is set to Zero , again something I have never seen, not sure why it's never been fixed? it would be a tad "breezy" in those homes , personally I prefer a 1/8 - 3/16" Reveal @Dermot? ..... not enough complaints? it is a Industry Term though .....

terrain water feature in vector view but not standard view
Kbird1 replied to SH_Canada's topic in General Q & A
I noticed this myself on a Project last year..... M. -
Do you have a Roof or 2nd story on the Model ? and a Foundation ( I use a 5 click auto mono slab if Project doesn't require a Full model ) , I ask because of the "Glow" ( light leak) above the Rangehood area in particular . And like you I think the X12 image is nicer , but needs more light. M.
-
Not just a MAC issue , I also find the Standard Rendering in X12 is better than X13 and have several Clients who have stayed with X12 for this reason as PBR-RT is still too much work to make look good in a lot of cases. M.

You could possibly Rotate the Whole Building 20°, with EDIT area and Transform/Reflect Tool > Rotate 20°, do the Addition work , and Rotate it back if needed. Try it in a Save as Copy of your Plan..... Mick.

There is a bonus Beam Catalog with an I-Beam in it , and it not hard with Polyline Solids to make Plates ( save to your Library ) https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/detail/789 there is also some stuff I use in the Simpson StrongTie Library including bolts etc but not sure what the X9 Library has anymore..... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/detail/796 M.

They are supposedly more stable but in Real World Practice I have never seen any difference, at least not in Chief. M.
