Questions about performance change from X10 to X13 upgrade
Kbird1 replied to AvoyeDesign's topic in General Q & A
Probably be better to invest in a Pre-built with 12th gen CPU etc and a RTX 3000 Series Video Card and perhaps a PCIE 4.0 NVME SSD at this point, and take the whole old system Home.... M. -
If you save all the Associated Textures ( stone, Art etc ) from the Old Plans once unZipped in to the Chief Textures Folder , you will always have them, as Chief Migrates the Textures Folder each version. You might be able to find just the needed Textures on the Old laptop to put in the Textures Folder, but it is just easier to do a File>Backup Entire Plan. C:\Documents\Chief Architect Premier X13 Data\Textures

The Terrain appears correct to me, looking at the Deck to the right , I am guessing there is 2-3 steps down into the garage from the house in which case you need to open the Garage Room Specs. and set the garage Floor to -14" ( 2 steps) or -21" (3 x 7" steps ) approximately depending on Riser Heights, then open the Garage door in 3D and raise/lower the Terrain as Eric mentioned so the driveway is just below the Garage slab. ( opening door makes it easier to see adjustments) M.

Do a File>Backup Entire Plan (Project if in Layout) with the ALL referenced Files zipped options and the Plan will be saved with all associated textures, If doing this from Layout any referenced Plans are included so you don't need to also do an Entire backup of them. Mick.

Things are not as "crisp" as they were in 3D etc etc as they were in X12 , fingers crossed that changes in X14 once they fix the Issues with the new 3D Engine now in Use. M.
-
No complete fix as far as I am aware, newer Nvidia Drivers help some on Win11 , but other like myself on Win10 still have numerous Issues ....... even for those without 3000 Series cards, though I have a 3080. these are new for me today popped up after closing a cross Section..... the 3D Camera was just the next open window I assume.... and they just kept coming , repeating...., could not close 3D camera or switch to Plan View so had to crash close Chief with Task Manager.

Blurry Colored Background When Sending to Layout Using Plot Lines?
Kbird1 replied to plannedRITE's topic in General Q & A
The Known Issue is apparently related to having very large Terrain Perimeter's turn on in Elevation, no sure if that maybe your scenario? but usually that shows as some of the color shifting sideways rather than being blurry. M. -
If you are using color in Vector View, you change the color of the Pattern of the Glass,Standard material to a grey, this won't be seen if color is off though like in the 1st Image. Mick.
-
So you can't see through them in Vector View ? you can set the Glass to Opaque in the Rendering Technique Options.........

Contour splines don't create the terrain I expect
Kbird1 replied to ADallas's topic in General Q & A
You didn't post your reproduced plan or I would of looked at it , just pics.... it appeared to have 1 spline still at 0' but I'll check back tonight M.- 13 replies

Contour splines don't create the terrain I expect
Kbird1 replied to ADallas's topic in General Q & A
Now you're changing the story Many Surveys do not show what is there "today" , the one on record could be from before any work was done or even the 1st Building built, so there could be many changes, unless you know the Survey is "new" of course, but the Surveyor could of also screwed up the Elev. Data as well. M.- 13 replies

Kbird1 replied to ADallas's topic in General Q & A
At least one line is still at 0' , (pretty sure I see 0' in your last pic ) , this would cause the "Valley" in the middle... RED numbers means a negative Elevation too. Mick.- 13 replies

Yes I still have the "black out Issue" along with several others, but with my 3080 , it is quicker to disappear it sounds like than the M1 Chip, unlike you it is not followed by a crash though , so it is possibly not linked? I have more issues in Plan and Templates built in Earlier Versions which almost guarantee a crash in 3D. Mick.

Does you MAC have an Intel Graphics Card? ( not in Sig.) I have seen posts similar to this over the Years when laptops had Intel GPUs and bad Intel Drivers etc. I am not a MAC person sorry but Chief recently posted this KB Article..... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03108/supported-intel-graphics-chipsets.html

What are these lines and how do I get rid of them?
Kbird1 replied to bdillard1's topic in General Q & A
Make a Full Foundation Walltype so you don't end up with little "rooms" behind the Insulated 2x4 basement wall ....ie combine it with the FDN Wall Conc. Wall -
Best Practices...... Partition wall being checked should not be used in most conditions , Chief's Walls normally join on their Center Line, and this setting tries to stop that happening with the wall "touching" the other wall's surface only.
-
Maybe I read the OP a bit differently than Chopsaw? but are you sure you just haven't accidently turned of the Flat Ceilings in the Rooms or perhaps the entire level ? Mick.
-
Only I don't think you have X14 ? Hopefully you don't have a graphics Card Issue , pixelation is one of the 1st signs of a GPU dying.... M.
-
Yes pretty common issue , so I too have to use CAD lines or a tiny marker to snap to. M.
-
Me? Chief has always recommended Nvidia Gaming cards , so that is what I have always had...... looks like buying a 3080 in the new computer for X13 was a waste of hard earned $$$ though..... probably lost an hour today already with lockups.... M.
