  1. Have you turned off Auto Roof ...or caused it to turn off? in your plan.....
  2. Good advice...to always follow the Tutorial 1st and once it's right apply to your own Project. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00619/building-an-l-shaped-structure-with-full-gable-ends.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00758/generating-automatic-hip-and-gable-roofs.html
  3. This depends on the SPV you are in and it's Text Defaults ( and if you are using the Layer for Text Style ) Pasting a single instance of Text will not change the Destination Plans Defaults But if you Switch the Text in the Original Plan to "Custom" before copying it, it will hold that Custom Style in the Destination Plan. but maybe it is Sunday and I am not understanding what you want to do M.
  4. It appears you are not Breaking the long Walls , and then setting 1 pc to Gable and the Other to Hip eg on the left side of the house.... once you get that one right , the procedure is the same on the Right side. M.
  5. Do your Forum Signature please ...as it is possible this is a Hardware Issue if you are using X13? .......ie your VideoCard is not capable enough. Mick.
  6. Best to use the Windows (or Mac) Snipping Tool and just paste the Pic into the Forum Post instead of making PDFs so we can View the issue right here on the Forum. M.
  7. Yes that is what I have always thought, but your question got me playing, and I may have been chasing my own tail earlier trying to figure out what was happening. Lets approach this from the other Direction In the Example above what is it you want to happen in the Destination File ...to Keep The Source Formatting? (similar to the Word Setting ) ..... I think you'd need to set the Text Style to Custom , so the Destination File doesn't change it. M.
  8. That's what I thought too, so I must have been doing something wrong earlier today with my testing.... M.
  9. This is not a good practice for Exterior Walls in particular....... some more Tips on the Paint Can Tool are here : Mick.
  10. Yes, it's unfortunate we can't configure Windows in the DBX similar to how we can Cabinet Fronts with multiple horizontal and vertical "Separations" and assign different areas as Casement, fixed etc which would be much faster than the current Mulling system and perhaps having to place and configure 4 or 5 different windows only to find they won't mull etc. M.
  11. I thought it brought the layer with it, but after some testing here I an not sure if it is using the Current Plan's Layer ( the one pasting too) or if like many things in Chief, it is using the Default Layer from whatever Plan you have set as your New Plan Template as the Layer rather that the one from the Plan it came from. (similar to how it does the same for Defaults for Objects in the Library) Perhaps have a try yourself in case I messed up my testing ( I may need a better methodology ) but I changed the layer name in my current template to Text 1/4" and then opened a few test plans to test text pasting, then switched it back to "Text" in the Template and opened a New Plan and pasted into it and the Layer was back to Text even though the "copy" was Text,1/4" when copied from the earlier test Plan. However if you are using the Layer for Text Style ( Text Style Tab ) it may appear it is going to another Layer too, eg Pasting from Working Plan SPV to a Plot Plan SPV when really it is on the original layer still. Maybe Dermot can clarify what is going on ? @Dermot M.
  12. With X12 and above, you can use a Fixed Door for the Sidelights which should let you match the Doors for looks etc. Mick.
  13. This is what I done for years now, and have built up a library of different inside corner Fillers, Standard Fillers and End Panels etc, mainly because Chief's dimensions won't find Auto Fillers and "Normal Cabinets will "bump" into them and stop. M.
  14. The Latest Nvidia Drivers ( 511.79) where supposed to fix this issue on Win 11 ? but I guess not? The Nahimic Issue has been around for some time and a known incompatibility, but is usually related to Multi-Monitor setups or outputting a laptop to a Larger Monitor , had that issue myself and uninstalling Sonic Radar ( from Nahimic) fixed that issue.
  15. These should help get you started .... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01808/creating-a-custom-door.html and https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00334/creating-a-transom-and-side-lites-for-a-door.html Mick.
  16. Unfortunately that is not the case for many of us ...I don't have Windows 11 and still have plenty of issues with X13 ( on my 3080 ) .... which will never be fixed.....I just have to hope now that by some unknown factor they fix things in X14 as apparently they can't or won't in X13 or we would of had another update since Oct. 2021.... M. *Well B.....Me ......we got a new update in March ...not that it helped my issues - still ALL there including losing work....
  17. Just thought I'd mention Chief Upgrades went on Sale today till April 11th , I just got the Email now..... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/offers/?utm_source=sendinblue&utm_campaign=2 May 19-202022 Dallas 2-Day Training Upg&utm_medium=email#upgrade Mick.
  18. There is an old thread from 4-5 years ago called Lets Raytrace with a lot of good advise for those with Older versions of Chief........
  19. If you are doing CPU Raytracing in X11 , then the VideoCard makes NO difference as it is not used for CPU Rendering , that is the Big Update in X13 ie. to Real Time PBR Views ( or RTRT as it called here ). $300 on a videocard is nothing these days ( unfortunately), many would consider that a deal....... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/33864-best-gpu-besides-rtx3080/?tab=comments#comment-264216 And Yes, it is always good to close Chief once or twice a day ( say at Lunch ) and restart the computer to avoid "weirdness" M. * If considering an update to X13 , don't wait too long as once X14 is release it will cost you another yr on the Bill , x13 will give you a "free" X14 as well since you'll have SSA again.
  20. Chief has always recommended the Nvidia Gaming Cards as it can't / doesn't take advantage of the extra Hardware ( eg precision units) that Engineering Programs can and do use or Programs Like Blender etc. The Older Quadro Nvidia cards in the same Series as your A4000 were much more expensive than a gaming card in the past so there was no sense in paying for them unless you also used other Apps/Programs that could use the extra Hardware. The A4000 is a slot powered GPU for smaller Computers like SFF Builds , so can't pull the power needed to operate like a 3080 or 3080Ti and is more on the level of a 3070 ( or 2080 Super ) perhaps a 3060ti from what I have read so far, but maybe working hard (fan noise) to achieve that, but since Chief isn't anywhere near a Modern AA Title Game as far as pushing the GPU, I'd think it would be okay if not a Gamer as well and there are quite a few here with 3060's who are happy. M.
  21. 1ft = 1/2 a foot? sounds a bit strange ...at least not one I have seen before..... In both Layout and Plan Views Go to File > Print > Drawing Sheet Setup and change the Drawing Scale....
  22. You don't actually ever Own Chief ...you are granted a License to use that one copy in perpetuity and while Chief doesn't have a Subscription Model, Like AutoCAD or Adobe do these Days, I would say the Annual SSA is about as close as you can get without using the word subscription, though that is what allows for tech support , getting the latest Version each year and access to the newest Version's 3D Library Files. The EULA PDF is HERE The Transfer is pretty painless it seems and costs $50 for a Full License, through the Sales Dept. , costs vary for secondary Licenses and are based on the Full Version Price > second license cost difference. You should check the Offers Forum you may find a Deal there.... M.
  23. Updated PDF ( top of Post 1 ) for a Cell No# Error and Excel Beginners after re-rereading it Myself. M.
  24. It may or may not be set up Check here..... but personally I prefer the Scrollbars.
  25. Chopsaw is correct , this is almost always due to having two schedules in the plan or perhaps one in Plan and one in a CAD Detail. At least you know what to look for next time.... M.
