  1. haven't looked at plan but "auto trey ceilings" do not like invisible walls/Room Dividers, which it appears you have between the two areas. In that case I use a P.Solid with a Hole for the Tray instead, with the Room's Ceiling set to the Higher height. M. 2. I think you'd need to use different Roads for each size Curb as I think you can only set one in the Road's DBX > Curb Tab , not each side to different Sizes or no curb at all. Might even be easier to turn the Road Curbs off and to use a Molding line/polyline for different sizes as a molding line will also let you turn the "selected edge Off " where needed.
  3. I think it uses whatever the Exterior/Interior Default Wall uses.... M.
  4. Ceiling Plane Tool is under the Roof Plane tools just set the pitch to 0° some pointers............ https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10149/where-to-draw-a-custom-ceiling-plane-inside-or-outside-of-the-room-s-wall.html?playlist=96
  5. Normal Tech Support Option through your Digital Locker is used for Beta
  6. Not yet AFAIK , always been whatever Walltype is below it and Walls Attic for anything Auto-generated, I thought but have seen that too Larry for example in a remodel plan with Walls,Existing and Walls,New etc. M
  7. One Nice find that wasn't mentioned is the Fact Chief's Interface now FULLY uses your system Settings for Fonts including SIZE............ Yah ! ........a boon as a Glass's wearer anyway it didn't like the FontI was using so I am now using one called Intel Clear. even in TMM etc !
  8. I am very sure - furred walls need to Touch the other Wall, if you leave the AirGap, strange things happen and you'll end up with a 1/2" -1" wide "Room" around the whole basement which leads to other Issues due to Chief's "Room Based Paradigm". I am not actually sure why anyone would use "furred" when a new wall definition is inherently better ( why spend time drawing two sets of walls?) and without the "furred wall setting" issues. Furred Walls The recommended method for creating furring is to simply add the required air gap, framing, and finish layers to the wall type of your choice. Alternatively, though, Double Walls can be used, with the inner wall being specified as a Furred Wall. Furred Walls are placed against the inside of a primary wall, typically an exterior wall. An example is a concrete wall furred out by a framed wall with an air gap or insulation between them. Rooms are defined in the normal manner by the primary wall, but the layers of the Furred Wall are treated by the program as though they were added to the primary. An air gap between the primary and furred walls should be defined as a layer of one of the walls, usually the furred wall. As with Frame Through walls, Furred Walls do not split platforms or connected walls. Unlike Frame Through walls, they do not connect or frame to non-parallel walls like normal walls. Instead, they will connect to other Furred Walls. To create a Furred Wall, specify the primary wall as a Frame Through wall and the furred wall as a Furred Wall on the Structure panel of the Wall Specification dialog.
  9. A truer word was never said , for me at least X13 has been a mini nightmare and on all new hardware as well. The Latest version even brought back the "Triangles" in Layout.... M.
  10. sorry looks like my brain got ahead of my fingers late last night, and I was thinking Saved Plan Views (SPVs) apparently not Default Sets. However they can be imported just like the SPVs from the Default Residential provided by Chief. Open the Default Residential Plan Template ------ File> New From Template should take you right there.... Then File EXPORT and export the Default Sets, and Layersets to a backup directory/folder for future use. Now in YOUR Plan goto File > IMPORT and import the Default Sets and then Layer Sets you just exported. You can also import the SPVs directly into You Plan as Mentioned and also the Plan Defaults if needed which should more or less give you a full X13 based Plan. Mick.
  11. That's what you will have if that plan was started in HD Pro ? ( in your Sig. ) You can Import the Others though now you have Chief from the Default Residential Template. File>Import>Saved Plan Views> (browse out to X13 Template Folder ) . select Residential Template . OK > ALL
  12. The best advice is not to used the "Furred" Wall Option and make a Wall Definition that includes the Airgap, Stud and Drywall , this avoids other issues as well like accidently creating a 1 inch wide "Room" between the FDN Wall and the Framed Wall.
  13. If you migrate your Toolbars there should be NO visual appearance changes and your System supplies the Fonts so nothing should of changed there either? If Chief's Font's have gone missing? they are still available at the very bottom of the is KB artical in Zip format. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00006/message-the-following-fonts-are-not-available-on-this-system.html Mick.
  14. Best to ask in q+ A as mentioned .... but with a bit of Material etc reconfiguring you can use Roof Planes to simulate a Skylight along with some polyline Solids drawn in elevation to fill the Holes in the other Roof plans and make the "curb" of a normal Skylight. Normal Skylights can be push "almost" together at the Ridge as well (1/16th gap)
  15. I think your are correct I was wondering out loud to Dermot if Chief would Sell a copy of an older Version of HD Pro to the "Builder" but If someone still had X9 it would be worth about the same by now I guess so the Offers Forum back around 2017-2018 would be the best bet. M.
  16. I think in X13 that toolbar is on the RH side , not at the Top , at least for me it is, but I have long since customized my Toolbars to my liking. If you save the plan in X14 you won't be able to open it in X13 , so make two copies for yourself eg Filename_X13 and Filename_X14 as backup. M.
  17. thought some pics may help others if they are used to using only the normal Display Options , personally my ALdO is always on my 2nd monitor with my PB ( Project Browser ) as it doesn't need closing like the normal Display Option DBX.
  18. It's been a problem on MACs for quite some time , I have several clients who also complained about this and reported it. M.
  19. Would Home Designer Pro 2018 be another Option? I think that is the year for X9? But not sure if Chief will sell older Versions or if someone can buy a used copy of it? Mick.
  20. C:\Documents\Chief Architect Premier X10 Data\Toolbars or C:\Documents\Chief Architect Premier X12 Data\Toolbars M.
  21. Oh great they are allowing it again..... video seems to be loading Okay now though ....but it did stall the 1st time I tried it this morning. M.
  22. I believe Chief stopped allowing downloads of their Videos a few Versions ago, M.
  23. Yes , but if you upgrade to X13 NOW , the full version of X14 will be free too as you get 1yr SSA with it...... Call Sales and Confirm but I think you can save 1 yrs money.... M.
  24. For Public Beta you just use the Normal Tech Support Option, Dermot Posted the Link on Page 1
  25. In the Room Dialog try putting the Bedroom in Roof Group 1 and the Deck in Roof Group 2 ( Default is RG 0 ) This should force the Auto Build Roof tool to treat each area separately ...... hopefully without causing other issues. M.
