that appears to be it...... I am thinking the foundation wall picks up the attribute from the 1st floor since the Foundation is autobuilt. Knee Walls Knee Walls are a bit like Attic Walls in that they are not meant to generate to full ceiling height. Instead, they build upward until they encounter a roof plane. Unlike Attic Walls, however, Knee Walls are used in the interior of a structure, typically to separate unused areas from rooms on the upper floor of a story-and-a-half structure. See Room Types and Functions. Chief Architect does not specify walls as Knee Walls automatically. If an interior wall is drawn in a location where the roof is lower than the ceiling height, you should specify it as a Knee Wall in the Wall Specification dialog. See Roof Panel. For best results, Knee Walls should be drawn perpendicular to the pitch of the roof and should intersect with Full Gable Walls on each end.

way too many settings to guess at without a plan as Eric said .... especially from a small pic like that..... close the plan in CA and drag and drop it into the light grey area in the reply window. If it is over 25mb , you will need to ZIP the plan to get below that limit , and/or delete some stuff from the Plan. M.

Suggested white paint for best ray trace results
Kbird1 replied to TKInteriors's topic in General Q & A
Graham , in the "Lets Raytrace Thread" suggested using 102 Arctic (White) which IIRC is actually in the Formica Catalog under Solid Elements, in the Library . I copied it to my User Library and renamed it as my "Cabinet White". -
I'd say your roof plane is doing something to the wall as I think I see the start of the gutter against the Brick just below the hole..... - so not sure if a bug or not? M.

Ray Tracing is a CPU intensive part of the program , it does not use the GPU at all , the new PBR Camera method uses a bit of each...... Be a good idea to fill out your Signature too Jeremy ( see mine for how ) and hang out some more and do a bit of learning , RTing always brings lots of questions.... M.

This is normal ...however I usually set it to use 10 of my 12 Cores , so I have a bit left over for doing other things like reading the Website...... now because you are maxxing your CPU out , especially on a Laptop you need to be VERY conscious of the heat produced or it may crash the computer as you just found out, as the Processor will protect itself at some point and shut off.. ( thermal protection cutoff) , I recommend installing CoreTemp or RealTemp and monitoring it closely. M.

There is no , one off quick fix , as it depends on the materials used , their definitions and most importantly the Lighting and the type there of..... ie don't use Point lights unless absolutely necessary. And keeping RT size to something like 1280x720 makes a huge difference in times too... lots of good info in this thread though as well as some basic settings to start with....

now that would of been good info in the 1st post

Just a FYI : BrianBeck has now stated there is a bug in RCSS and it will be worked on for the final release to help alleviate this issue....

good thought I was wondering how he might have done that not really Pink ( murky brown?) and not a colour I like personally though...
-
posting the Plan would help ... it almost looks like the Cabinet fill color is also the room fill color now
-
Did you delete the foundation and start over? I have found in the past that CA "remembers" settings which can play havoc trying to change things mid project.... try it in a Copy of your good plan perhaps.....

ALL camera views now use the new Ray Casted Sun Shadows , on a lesser PC it is worth turning off as it consumes high CPU cycles in all camera views if on, as it is Ray Traced Based , it is noticeable even on my Desktop .....eg ramped up fan noise and heat just like when I RayTrace. M

VLC is on Android as well , so I'd assume iOS too.... but I don't know Apple myself...
-
Never quite understood that one myself , especially since they can be Migrated on an upgrade it seems..... however Defaults can only be Imported from an existing Drawing (AFAIK) eg your Template Plan , or from you current drawing to your Template Plan to Update it etc , you can't export them like Layer Sets, or Wall Definitions etc. M.

x10 Material Library: Dropbox or Server Based
Kbird1 replied to LeffDesignTeam's topic in General Q & A
The new Ray Casted Shadows are RT Based , so cause my CPU to ramp up immediately in all Views , so that may indeed explain what is happening in the Library too . M. -
thanks Dan , never knew those were there .... for those unfamiliar with it , the AppData Folder is in your User Folder ...eg: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Chief Architect Inc I have 4 .ini Files in there currently 2 from X9 , from x10 Beta..... M.
-
I assume you mean the CA Data folder David? I had looked there but only found a ssce.ini in a folder called lex..... is that it? M.
-
defaults can be imported from an existing plan , AFAIK Preferences cannot be and need to be set each new version , not sure if they are preserved with an Upgrade version to version though. ( ie migrated ) M.
-
Thanks Chopsaw ... Options are always good....
-
Probably a good idea ....what is the location of the .ini file that worked , thx. KB

Is There or Will There Be a Forum For X10 public Beta Questions?
Kbird1 replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
Yes I think the version should be mandatory , when you join the Forum , either under the Avatar or in a compulsory signature with version number as a minimum. System specs are a bonus but not really needed in most cases. Most other Forums I am on are split by version number or have current version and "legacy" forums at least but here at Chief , at least those on the Forum generally have the latest version as they are active participants in the Forum. It's not so much that you can't make CA X7 do something , you could just have totally different tools/methods, to do it in X9 with ....that and the fact the OP can't open any "fixed" plan you provide for a User of Older versions...since there is no warning opening older drawings of this issue....at least not till you go to save them.... Been asked for by many for MANY years , same over on the HomeTalk Forums , where versions, are an even bigger issue.... but there has never been a response from CA , so I don't think you need to worry about a change here now either.... wall lines showing up on wall elevations at windows?
Kbird1 replied to dskogg's topic in General Q & A
I didn't expect it too, I was just curious ...... If you can't post the Plan I understand ,,,it is just hard to figure stuff out with out it... M.
