  1. Their is a KB Tutorial for re-installing the Core Manually : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02899/manually-installing-core-catalogs-for-chief-architect-premier.html Are you sure you don't have a bad symbol in your User Library ? or is only the Core installed now? M.
  2. Not that I saw Lew but he did start at least 3 and was pretty heated ...though a bit misinformed I think. M.
  3. Thanks Lew , don't think I have seen that Idea before..... I think alot of Building Depts want Isometrics though ? probably to check Venting etc is done correctly. M.
  4. Thanks Cliff I will pass this on to Brian too but you 2nd comment has me slightly confused.... ie " they should retain all the information you send (i.e, Subcategories), from the Components dbx except the Count. I have no idea why it doesn't, but they do retain their count "
  5. even P-solids and Slabs aren't really solid though , just 3D "faces" ( hollow cubes) which is the Issue in this case I believe...
  6. The activation dance is a PITA for sure and only effects legitimate Users like us , I am not sure why they don't allow a Desktop and Laptop to be active , but only one in Use at a time? I am a bit surprised CA deleted those threads this morning to say the least ...... posting a Clear statement would of been better for all.... M.
  7. Click on the Cross Box and Open it and change the fill as desired if I understand what you want to do? ***Looks like we posted at the same time....I assumed a section view....not 3D perspective.....
  8. Yes , the Ctrl Key to single select items and the Shift Key to group select items...... is the usual way in most Windows Programs
  9. The CA Method in the KB..... also see what Eric said... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02840/drawing-hvac-ductwork.html
  10. This happens if you are doing it in a "live" Plan view window .....zoom in on the Originial to how you want it seen, then goto CAD>CAD from View to create a new CAD Detail that is no longer "live" but still fully editable.
  11. Yes but only in Plan View as Michael explained above , I thought the OP was talking about a 3D view from his previous Thread on Brick layers missing, when I posted.
  12. Ain't that the truth.... how they all interact and in what Order is a growing problem with each new version. M
  13. Yes I assumed 3D after reading his other Thread on "Brick Hatching" but perhaps that was in Plan View too ? could well be I am way off based.... M.
  14. Ray tracing causes the CPU to get very hot , so it could be related to Heat especially on a Laptop as many are not well ventilated , try setting the number of Raytrace Cores in Preferences>Render to 1/2 the number it shows now as test and see if it helps , it will be slower obviously.....
  15. @ACADuser (Alan) I know is fluent in AutoCad so hopefully he will see this Thread and be able to help you out.... M.
  16. This just came up here too but if I have All On Set I see everything...
  17. If I use the All On Set , Walls, Main Layer Only is turned on but so is Walls, Normal..... I do not lose the siding unless I deselect Walls, Normal. So what am I doing different or not doing? did I Check Walls, Normal at some point? is that usually Off ? M.
  18. So you copy and paste anything in your X9 template into a fresh Plan made with the X10 default Template? I assume you mean things like Section cameras, text boxes , CAD Details etc , or does your Template also act as your "warehouse plan" and you have all sorts "ready to go" M.
  19. Thanks Mark , appreciate it , that is good info to help me get started .....I am thinking I should reinstall X10 and not let it migrate X9 this time ..... but am aware of the Time involved to do that and set everything up again how I like it.... X10 is forcing Macro renaming if you edit one, 1st letter cannot be a Capital...... at 1st I thought I had a keyboard issue M.
  20. Thanks Perry , good to have some feedback on the 390.65 Drivers... M.
  21. Apparently the removing of Framing from the Component Dialog was on Purpose , but he didn't say WHY . He would like more information from Users as to what functionality we have lost since X9 ( if any ) so He can determine if it is something they need to look into , so please add your comments and I will update him accordingly.... I have only noticed the Framing missing , have any other categories disappeared? M.
  22. always a good idea to post images , but for a quicker "fix" it is way better to post the plan file , so someone can just look for you.... - Nice catch GlennW
  23. it looks similar to the Carport KB Article and several others like the one on Barns.... To fill in your Forun Signature , please see mine for how to do it...thanks. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01179/creating-a-carport.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00598/creating-a-post-and-beam-structure.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01069/designing-a-traditional-pole-barn-structure.html https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00889/creating-a-custom-pergola.html https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-01010/creating-a-covered-patio.html
  24. Hi Ed , I have watched Jared's Video Previously and need a new Template for X10 after finding a few issues with old plans brought forward , if you have time would you mind looking at my Post below ( from a few weeks ago ) and share any tips about starting a new Template from scratch Please. I don't want to clutter up Larry's thread here with that, Thanks.
