the difference is that I have a Fascia Board .....turn it back on and no White Rafters in Chop's Plan either..... not sure why your Rafters still get cut yet with no sub Fascia. Weirdly to do that I had to use the "Edit All Roof Planes" tool for existing Roof Planes, which I didn't need to do in Mine ????? Ahhhhhh the quirks of CA

You don't say what Version you are on but the Early 388 series had many issues ...well documented all over the Hardware Forums , I think Nvidia has released 3 or 4 388 Series Drivers now in the last month or so which tells me something ain't quite right.... they usually release about once a Month or so some have good luck with 385.69 too.

The reason I made it 1/16th was that if I turn it off the Rafters don't get Cut at 5 1/2 inch Maybe my Profile.Plan is no longer the OOB Profile Plan from CA and something is messed up..... not sure maybe it isn't the X9 version? in my Plans Folder ? M.

you could also C&P them into your Template Plan for future Use..... I do what Perry does actually (above) .... may have learned that one from Him M.

Hi Chopsaw , I thought this method would work too , made the sub-Fascia 1/16th thick and was just going to make it/paint it White with the Rafters but for some reason in my Test Plan it will not let me have White Rafters/subfascia if I use an Air Gap or Open - No Material Material for the Soffit..... I see that you can ...would you mind posting your test plan so I can figure out why it doesn't work here, thanks.... unless You Know why? M.

I was looking at this method myself this afternoon after looking at Richard's Post but it sounds like you had the same issue as me ... no option to enlarge the PDF by 200% was available in the Print Dialog Box. The Trick I used is to set Acrobat Reader on the File>Print Setup Tab to ARCH_D size paper and Landscape Mode, (or ANSI_D if ANSI_B Template) this allows printing to pages up to that size now) and then in the Print dialog , set the Page Scaling to Fit To Printable Area and then reprint it using a Print to PDF Printer like Microsoft's built in PDF Printer or Bullzip PDF Printer , which I use. I found it was best to make the Template ANSI_B (Ledger size, 17x11) or ARCHB (12x18) depending on whether ARCHD (24x36) or ANSI D (22x34) is the Layout Size and then once in Layout, scaling The PDF after importing it , to fit inside the Title Box making sure the aspect ratio stays the same. That maybe different if you have the ability to scale the Original PDF by any percentage you want eg 185% instead of using a Paper size twice that of the Original. Here are my files if you want to test it out.....including some test PDFs. I used Richard's Instructions and my own notes in the Template to fill in the Columns so I'd always have them with the Template , so no need to C&P the above info. I made One with a Border and One without , since I couldn't decide..... if you want them 12x18 , reset the Page size in Word on the Page Layout Tab to ARCHB and resave them , as I made mine Ledger Size (17x11) since one of my Printers can do that if needed. In that case I think I would of just used 3 posts with footing and a beam , with a manual roof plane over it set at the correct Pitch..... ie same way it is built ITRW assuming it has no foundation to speak of ? .......................and find a better gravel texture than Chief's M.

I think Windows and Doors have Dynamic Defaults unless Mulled together ( or you have made any changes to them eg type) if you are dealing with them specifically you can use the Defaults DBX or the Set as Default Tool and if the Window or Door is using ALL defaults it will change existing ones too, all new windows or door added will use the new Defaults. this works for Cabinets too.... though I think you may need to change each type Full, Base, Wall etc. , check this Tutorial. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00437/using-the-set-as-default-tool-to-change-cabinet-styles.html

There is the Match Properties Tool Icon on the Edit Taskbar ( 1 yellow box with 4 yellow boxes off it ) when you select an Item like a Window , Door or Room , not sure if it will do exactly what you want though ? M.

It has (was) been happening since 1709 for me , the mouse Cursor would disappear if I had a 3D window open too long as one example , some others have reported this too , along with the Fact CA support is now recommending people with issues Rollback to the May Driver. I was also getting issues in some other Apps, so did the Rollback 2 weeks ago. But I have seen numerous Posts this week about it and was posting in two threads this morning to help out , so figured it was easier to make a new post for people to find with all the Info, assuming they do a search I have a GTX 970 and a GTX 980Ti , not one of the new 10 Series cards which I believe the 388 Series Drivers are mainly aimed at .....newer is not always better when it comes to Drivers despite what M$ would have you believe and them pushing Drivers from Windows Update.....I personally update my own Drivers, so this Option is always off on my Systems, if I have an issue I look into , and see what others recommend 1st, especially as many of the M$ Drivers are Stripped down versions of the Full Driver and come with no GUI , eg many of Intel's GFX Drivers. I tried Versions 388.0 and 388.13 for another Program and they Broke it (DirectX Errors) and Chief but others were reporting issues with 388.0 on other Forums like OCN.net too. Mick.

Links to Older Drivers also removed above as of June 23 2020. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Possible Fix for those using older Nvidia Drivers Use the 382.05 Drivers Many seem to have issues with the new Nvidia 388 Series Drivers and Up ( 388.0 /.13/.33 etc) installed automatically by Windows Update **edit....... just a note that the new 10 Series Nvidia Cards seem less likely to have these issues , but it's not unheard of. eg. The mouse cursor disappearing in 3D views and other weirdness seem to be some symptoms in Chief , I was also get Crashes with some sort of DirectX error , in other Programs , as far as I know Chief uses OpenGL not DirectX (maybe both?) and Chief was not Open when that was happening One Possible Fix that helped me and a few others is Rolling the Driver back ( re-installing actually) ) to May's Version 382.05 , this Driver is no longer available since this week off the usual Nvidia Drivers Download page , at least for me, the oldest is 385.12 so below are the direct links to the download page for 382.05. Make sure you get the Correct Version as there is a Notebook/Laptop version too. Once you have Run the Installer you will also need to disable Windows Update from Updating Hardware Drivers or it will almost immediately re-Update you to to the 388.xx Driver again, more on that below too. One suggestion before drawing any walls etc is to set up the known Defaults 1st , eg the ceiling height , ceiling structure ,whether there is a Ceiling or the space is Vaulted ( as in this case ), Roof Slope and Structure, Foundation details, etc ..... at least enough for the basic Structure . I noticed your Roof planes aren't joined properly at the Ridge (Peak) but this roof builds pretty well on auto , if all the walls are given their correct directives in the roof Tab 1st ...ie gable, high shed, etc. , then you can fix the roof over the bumpout simply by manually by pulling that section down , and added the reverse slope at the ridge for the overhangs either side. If you have a hole appear in the ceiling like that, try the Wall's...... Stop at ceiling or go through ceiling settings ...one or the other usually fixes it. I also did as Eric did at the Stairwell....ie set as Solid Rail and changed the Top Rail to a Cap..........pretty narrow stair at only 3'.... here's your revised Plan so you can see what I did, I have saved a couple of Camera Views for you too... I am not sure where you are seeing this information unless you mean in the Wall's DBX when you open it ? as there is no "Edit" > "Preferences" -> "Number Style" I can see ( or remember) Or do you mean in a Layout ....not a Plan? Mick.
