  1. I think Ray is right you need to cut a roof Hole around your 2nd storey Walls ... remember in CA.... Roofs Control Wall Heights....
  2. I think this is indeed the issue , I deleted your Frieze Moulding in case it was the culprit but found if I make a frieze bigger than 6" wide ( off building) in your plan it disappears . I couldn't save your Frieze Moulding to reuse unfortunately It also appears you need a Box Eave and a Soffit to get Friezes to appear ( I set the soffit to 1/16th" ) but I found in a New X10 Template plan I can layer Frieze Mouldings up with no Issues under this 18" overhang below. I couldn't save your Frieze Moulding to reuse unfortunately 1. 16 1/4 x 5x8 ( CA-001) 2. 4 x 7 ( CA-001) 3. CA-009 at 3" 4. CA-009 at 6"
  3. Thanks for the Followup , it would not of occurred to me that the Shadows would cause the light to not show..... just the opposite , I see how being above the Fixture would be an issue to some extent but am surprised it blocked all the light. M.
  4. The pic is really small Larry , 1" x 2" , so too hard to see your example , so I'm not sure which Section Camera you are using there... 1st clue .....Shadow Boards generate from the fascia line back and trim the framing as seen below when swapping the Shadow Board for a 3x12 handrail moulding.... so that's why you are getting the weird Framing I think.... so the Frieze Option looks like the way to go... M.
  5. That is really strange cos it was my 1st thought ... ie. lights buried in cabinet material.... so I pulled the fitting out in front of the Cabinet a few feet ( 3rd pic above) and still got nothing , so I am thinking it has more to do with the 25mm vs -25mm Offset than than the Fitting location....? 0 mm seems to work fine too ( below ) .... I was curious why the offset at all actually ...just the thickness of the fitting I assume ? *** Note to Neil ...make sure you turn on the Electrical, UC layer in ALL views eg Sections to see the Fitting. Raytrace 8 light LED Strip (see plan) Kiosk Cabinet_MHD.plan
  6. Hi Neal , I guess you are not aware as Mark pointed out you NEED Walls a Roof and a Floor (Foundation) in a Plan to make CA's Lighting work correctly , The Lighting Engine needs something to "bounce" light off to make the View , this is particularly important in Raytrace Here is your cabinet in PBR with 4 walls ( pic 1) and a roof and foundation built around it , then in Standard View where the lighting is more subdued, but in RT the LEDs don't seem to work??? ..... at 1st I thought it was because the fitting is buried in the cabinet soffits etc but I dragged it out in front and even added 4 extra lights, changed the light colour, type etc, and still nothing in RT except some light Pin Points on the Bar, so Mark or Graham will have to "illuminate" us both more on their LED Light Fitting as the checkbox to use the light is on for both camera and RT views , perhaps I missed something? been a while since I did a RT, maybe just not bright enough for RT?
  7. Looks Like Eric is onto something , I just changed the Garage Front wall back to "Default Bottom height" and it fixed it *** in the OP looks like you tried attaching the plan 4 times? but because it was locked it didn't really attach , so it is a dead link when clicked on.
  8. Joy , your plan file is not attached...make sure it is not open in CA before trying to attach it as CA Locks the File while it is open. Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in, especially with the Software Version, and of course a real Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum so you need to Toggle it on in UserName>Account >Signatures...... go to the Upper RH Corner of Forum Window. M.
  9. 4k did not work for me ( 43" Vizio at Costco ( easy return)) but that was 2 years ago and perhaps Win10 had a few Issues with scaling? personally I wear Glasses these days and found text etc was too small and with the other issues I went back to a standard 32" Monitor ( I have 2 x 32" Benq now) at 2560x1440 but 4k seems to work for many especially for Client meetings etc.
  10. I didn't look at the Plan either , as I joined the thread after your answer and I was pretty sure you had the Answer , I just added my 2cents worth on adding the 0,0 Point to help eliminate the Issue in future plans.... I did not "see" a footing/post in the PDF , nice abstract though.... or perhaps I need more Psych help M.
  11. personally no I didn't look as I thought Glenn had the answer , I can barely tell what it is though ? ( @fletcher? ) , so am surprised the 0,0 advice worked...
  12. I think it was this Thread Chopsaw....
  13. You can try searching the UL for Fire Rated assemblies too http://productspec.ul.com/index.php?type=firerated&form=full
  14. I am not sure what Best Practice is but I have always had it in the bottom left hand Corner of the Window when I open my Template Plan (for Visual Reference), if you hit Delete before you start drawing ( ie nothing selected) ,the Point disappears and you know you have started pretty close. I am not sure if CA has gotten better with dealing with the Z-fighting Issue or not but I have not seen it so much in the last couple of years.... M.
  15. There is another post in the Offers Forum , it is $695 to upgrade to the latest version X10 though.
  16. The Image is too small to tell anything really , but I didn't make these LEDs and there maybe some quirks with them I am not 100% sure. Posting the Plan or a sample plan may help , I am not sure if RT still has the 8 lights limit or not in X10, I am not using RT much now as PBR is faster and easier to adjust lighting in and you can set you own max number of lights eg my default is 100 . it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in, especially with the Software Version, and of course a real Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum so you need to Toggle it on in UserName>Account >Signatures...... go to the Upper RH Corner of Forum Window. M.
  17. Mark posted some LED strip lights in the Symbols Forum today , you can open the plan and save one of the horizontal ones to your Library and try it. It is easy to adjust the number and spacing of the Light Sources on the Light Data Tab , you should be able to make a 8' section with a light every 6" for example and then copy paste it around the room. The number of lights you can turn on may depend on your videocard and Cheif Version though....you still haven't filled in you signature so nobody will be sure.... see my Sig. for how to do yours....
  18. Thanks Graham , maybe @Renerabbitt made two sets ? and I missed these ones then? at least the InvisiLED set linked above appears to be different than the ones Mark included in the OP. M.
  19. It's your luck day apparently Mark has just post some other lights you can try too...... Open the plan and save them to your Library
  20. Thanks Mark , I didn't know Graham had made any but you maybe right as I have Rene's ones and they are angled at 45° they are here :
  21. Evoke has some nice products some of my Clients have used.... https://evokeflooring.com/us/products/luxury-vinyl
  22. FYI .... you can Input a Point at 0,0, in your Template Plan so you always start drawing near 0,0 which should alleviate this issue. M.
  23. Didn't you upgrade MadCow? time to update your Sig. if so..... I'd delete the 3Dplant library and run a fw days without it and see if it helps , then reinstall when needed... M.
  24. How did you Import them ? it's just a standard CA library , so Library> Import Library ? 1. I am not sure without example pics what you mean by this as don't seem to have that issue ( if I understand correctly ) 2. they are 45° fittings facing left by default ( light data is 315°) but they are pretty small so it's hard to tell if you for eg set the light Data to 45° or 0° however you can also Open the Symbol ( chair and pencil icon) and rotate the symbol 45° in the Z Axis to have them point straight out too or 90° to have the Lightbar face right however you still need to Rotate the light Data as well as Rotate the symbol does not rotate the Light sources. 3. The height reference is to center of the Fitting , so I am not sure why you think it is to the Ceiling , unless you have changed the Symbols Options? are they no longer Wall Mounted?
  25. The OP's problem maybe to do with Windows Scaling perhaps , particularly if the 3 monitors are not all the same.... Windows Own Snipping Tool work well for screen shots of partial screen shots and know let you choose different shapes or a particular Window too, you can mark up with the Pen too but it doesn't have a text option unfortunately. it's in Windows Accessories , though I have it pinned to my taskbar....
