  1. You should post the plan... Also...where do you want this gable roof? Do you want it located above the 2nd floor plate...or at first floor line to enclose the porch (this would be a bad idea...)
  2. Thanks Eric. That is exactly how I have it now. I was just trying to see if there was a way to get the screen in the rafter center (or close) thanks all for the tips and suggestions.
  3. I’ve already got a roof with screen as the ceiling surface...I was just wondering if it was possible to get the screen in the center of the rafter. I think the solution is to copy the roof I have “in place”...then use transform/replicate and move it up or down as needed. And some other editing too. And yes...I should have posted a plan.
  4. Good idea. I will give it a try. Thanks!
  5. Is there a way to accomplish a roof section as shown in the using the roof and ceiling tools in Chief X11? What I would like it to have the screen in the roof align near the top chord of the rafter. I know I can use P-Solids...just wondering if there was a more "automatic" method that I'm missing. Thanks!
  6. I I created some door symbols and placed them in the interior corner...I guessed that is where you wanted them. Plan is attached...hope it helps. Shoal Exterior 052319 - with doors.plan
  7. Here is a video that explains how to create corner "nana" type doors. Video was created by "David Michael"...excellent video and I think it will answer your question.
  8. Any wall can be curved in a click or two...see pic below. Draw a wall, select the wall, click the "curve" wall button on the bottom bar. Done. Shape the curve as needed or open the DBX and specify the exact radius. Select lock ends...or lock center.
  9. Just FYI. This roof isn’t easy for someone that knows how to build roofs...and use the software. Also...this roof is really not the greatest design. However I realize you are just trying to duplicate the builders plans.
  10. Can you give us some specs regarding this design? Such as; desired general ceiling height, how tall the garage ceilings are...and how much the garage floor drops. Is there a 2nd floor or just very tall attics? And...anything else you can think of.
  11. Oh, I’m not trying to be snarky. I’ve been exactly where you were....many times. Lots of people here to help you out.
  12. Just create two layer sets...one called Section View and another called Section View - no doors. Turn doors off in the "no door" layer set. Send each view to layout...easy peasy.
  13. Can you post the plan? You'll get an answer fairly quickly...
  14. I gave it a shot. Just FYI...the floor plan has a lot of issues; you need to set your ceilings heights in defaults and then "reset" all your defaults. I've attached my plan so you can review. As Eric mentioned...not sure of roof pitches, plate heights etc...so, this is just a guess attempt. barrick_new_build_11_Nestor Fix 1.plan
  15. Is there a way to create this type of room/enclosure in Chief using walls or railing walls? I know I can use P-Solids...but, wondering if I could possibly create some "newel" symbols for a railing wall and get the software to place these automatically.

    Dormer

I made a dormer video a few months ago..,maybe part of it will help.
  17. I did a video about this issue a while back. Here’s a link...
  18. Use a pony wall...siding-6 on top and concrete on bottom. You can adjust the height off floor...or in elevation view you can break the wall and step sections as needed to work with the grade.
  19. I have "Patio" as a room type...I don't think it's one I created. It's in the "available" room types list. Just open it...and edit to your hearts content.
  20. If you have exposed rafters...is there anyway to get the gable fascia to extend "plumb"...or does it always "trim" to meet the "fascia"? See attached picture.... I know if I change the gable fascia to something like 1.5" tall it will work...sort of. What I'd like is to not have a sub-fascia and get the "fascia" trim to extend plumb like the rafters are.
  21. Well...I just learned something I never knew. Thanks.
  22. Just curious. If you know you that your foundation walls will always be at least 48” tall...why not just set your minimum stemwall height to be 48”? Wouldn’t that save you a step? You wouldn’t have to open the room DBX and set the height?
  23. Michael's post is right on...as always. I made a video to supplement my first video...not sure if it really helps that much. Maybe it'll help someone....couple new things covered.
  24. It is weird. I think Chief guru's might want to think about limiting the number of places you can edit the floor joist size...it's crazy. You can set them in "defaults"...in the floor DBX and in the room DBX. Why? That said...I still wish they would improve the stair tool...my biggest bug-a-boo with Chief
