  1. Why not...hotkeys improve productivity like nothing else in Chief. Enjoy!
  2. Ummm...don't think it's a work around. Just have to use the tools to edit the cabinet. Personally, I'd use a moulding line (or polyline) to build the shelves....much faster, same result. You can use p-solids for vertical support posts. Probably construct what you want in half the time.
  3. My plan is attached if you'd want to see what I've done... Cabinets for Shelving.plan
  4. I don't get the cabinets to join together unless I set the "Box Construction" "Separation" to zero...I also have to set the "stiles" to zero So...what am I doing wrong? Pic of cabinet where the separation is 1.5"....I get a gap between cabinets
  5. I used two full height cabinets pushed together. Then...I went to cabinet defaults and unchecked "create automatic blind corner cabinets". I also adjusted the shelf thickness and spacing. And...I used "framed" style cabinet and set the separation to zero...
  6. Might want to make sure you have this box checked also...
  7. Chief has a number of videos...but this is a good place to start. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/343/framing-a-roof.html?playlist=146 Not really sure what you mean by "birds mouth" cut at the rafter tail? Something like this pic?
  8. Yep - sometimes you just have to get things close and move on. We’ve all been there!
  9. Your post got me thinking...so, I did a video. Maybe it'll help a bit...
  10. When you click on the cad line (in the cad detail from view)...you are "selecting". No need for two steps...right? Well...you do need to "shift" click to get both lines... I guess I was assuming that the OP new how to select lines...
  11. In order to snap a dimension to the face frame you will have to create a "Cad Detail from View"...Go to this new Cad View...and, just click on the two face vertical (or horizontal) face frame lines...hit "CTRL+C"...go back to your elevation view...hit "CTRL+ALT+V... which is "paste and hold position". Then...click the dimension line above the cabinet and drag the diamond shapes to the face frame...the dimensions will snap to the Cad lines. CAD Detail from View is a powerful tool...don't be afraid of using it often. It just will make life a lot easier...
  12. I did a video for you...hope it helps!
  13. You could use the section elevation camera...this will show the wall. You might then want to use a "Cad Mask"... The green area is only green because I have it selected...it will be the background color (white). For the dimensions to show through you may have to move the mask back behind the dimension layer.
  14. It works for me...follow theses steps: 1- Click on the dimension line 2- Grab the diamond on the extension line 3- Move it to where you'd like it to be...it will snap.
  15. Great to know! Thanks Glenn
  16. Mark - nice video. I followed your instructions as closely as I could...but, not sure I'm getting the correct result. The bottom of my cabinet is missing. I think from deleting the "separation" at the bottom cause the entire bottom of the cabinet to disappear. What am I doing wrong...if anything? Thanks. You are the cabinet master!
  17. Just to clarify...Glenn is referring to an Apple Computer Preferences control...not related to a specific Chief Preference control.
  18. Sorry Scott...I've been away from my computer. Went to see the new Tarantino movie... Sun angle works for me...see video. (very short). Chief has screwed it up somehow...
  19. I've got a number of Deck Rail videos on my YouTube page.
  20. Rail Dialogue Box...controls the entire process.. Step 1 - draw deck Step #2 - open railing to edit (dbl click railing) Step #3 - go to rails tab, select top rail, select "replace" Step 4 - select "oval" railing in library Step 5 - adjust width and depth if needed... Done...
  21. I am also using a MAC... I can tab to the box to change the time...but you there is no highlight. Start in the first box, tab 7 times...you should be able to change the hour. I can on mine...
  22. The ability to tab to the correct field is still there...but, the field is not highlighted. I had to make a guess when I landed in the time field...started messing with the arrows and sure enough the time changed. Looks like a glitch to me...
