  1. Increasing the width of the wall type will not make your top rail wider. The rails size is controlled in the railing DBX.
  2. Open the wall DBX and edit the width of the wall type. The railing will center on the wall... You might want to checkout the deck rail vids I have on YouTube.
  3. I tried to recreate the block as you did...but, no luck. My snaps end up in the wrong place once I attach the block to the symbol. Can you give me a clue as to what I am doing wrong... Thanks 3D block... 2D block...
  4. I'm with Mark...I used a CAD box, made it an invisible line and no matter what I do the box appears in the final CAD block. Now Chop used a rich text box...and it works perfectly. So...I'd use a rich text box without any text and shape it to where you need it...explode your current block and then block it all together and name the new block the same as the old and then save it to your library for re-use. Maybe someone can chime in and explain why a cad polyline box won't disappear? Weird...
  5. Thanks Scott...I didn't realize this method on the MAC.
  6. Bob...I had the same issue. I use a MAC so not sure what the process is if your are using a PC but you need to direct .CALIB files to be opened with Chief X11. See picture below...I'm showing a .PLAN file...but it's the same process for .CALIB files.
  7. Glad to help...I have a YouTube Page with lots of videos. Check it out! (see link in my signature)
  8. I made the wall a pony wall...and it seems to work well. One trick (thanks to DSHall). You need to pull your foundation wall around, push it up against the pony wall and then...make it invisible. This will help with the turn down slab detail in the garage. Hope that makes sense...look at the attached plan. 6242019 RFH (Shell3) - foundation 2.plan
  9. I downloaded your plan and hit build foundation...below is the result. Looks like it's working to me? I attached the plan with the foundation. 6242019 RFH (Shell3) - foundation.plan
  10. Just raise the ceiling in the garage to allow for the 80" tall door. If you cannot raise the garage ceiling...you will have to create a landing (48"x48" at least) inside the door...and drop that landing floor down about 7" (one step) to allow for the door height. I'd just raise the Garage ceiling...
  11. What Scott said... Create a ceiling finish...see here...
  12. New from Chief Skills, a video tutorial on how to create a porch room with a gable end and an archway in the gable. This is just one way to accomplish this task...there are many other ways that work just as well. You could use 2 walls...one invisible, you could use P-Solids. Yes...Chief gives you many ways to get things done. The video also shows how to create a double pitched roof using the automatic tools Chief gives us...I'm not an expert on this but somehow I get it to work. The video is a bit long...but comprehensive. Enjoy!
  13. I decided to use your post and request to make a fairly comprehensive video on this topic...apologies for the length of the video but it happens
  14. You probably just need to scroll down further... If the "Reference Display Layer Set" doesn't appear... - Then double click the floor #...this will open the "change floor/reference" DBX. You should see what "ref" set you are currently using. You can even edit this set right in this DBX....just click on the "Define" area of the DBX. Scroll down...you may find it! If not...then,
  15. You should post questions like this in "General Q & A" section... To fix your issue, select the wall, open the wall DBX, select the "ROOF" tab, at the bottom, check "Lower Wall Type if Split by Roof"...select "Interior-4"...
  16. You can change the material many different ways...one way, open the room DBX (dialogue box) and go to the materials tab, select the deck plans, then click on the "select material" button...go into the library and pick a new material.
  17. I think everyone comes across this issue now and then...thought it was a good reason to make a video. Hope it helps!
  18. I've been looking at your plan..and wondering why you have defined your walls with drywall..but with a "zero" thickness? Even your exterior wall definition you have both the siding and the drywall with a "zero" thickness. Do you do this to get a Plan View that is simplified...or is there some other reason?
  19. Defaults are exactly like mine...so, I'm not sure. Can you draw a polyline box in a room and click on an edge...take a screen shot of the result and post it? Thanks.
  20. Open your defaults, go to temporary dimensions and take a screen shot and post it. Below is what mine looks like... I looked at preferences...but, couldn't find anything specific. Maybe someone smarter than me needs to chime in...I'm out of ideas. If you create a "new" plan...do you get the same behavior?
  21. OK...done. Seems to work. You don't get dims as you draw the polyline...but, as soon as you are done and you click an edge...you get them.
  22. Justin - if a wall or any item really is connected to a dimension...Chief will not give you a temp dimension.
  23. Thanks! I appreciate your comments very much.
