  1. Quoted you above so you would see this post; I downloaded your "Starter Kitchen Material Package" from your "X11 Ongoing Symbols Thread"...but I'm getting a "texture missing" on a number of the materials. Is this correct? I love the recessed light you created...works fantastic. The subway tile is great also...
  2. I made "manual" changes to the roof. See attached. Roof issue - fixed.plan
  3. Oh...yea, I see that now. I watched it mostly on my iPhone and never saw the YouTube symbol. Weird...ok, sorry about that.
  4. Ok...but your video on PBR was much longer than 3 min
  5. Not really...but I’ll work on something and post later. Thanks
  6. Your video on PBR shows the possibilities. However most of what you went over was too advanced for me. Needless to say...but i was amazed. Also...I’m always torn about the value of spending a lot of time on rendering scenes. Seems like I waste a lot of time trying to get things just right...but can’t be compensated for the effort required. I would like you to do short videos that explain some of the basics...such as “what is an ambient occlusion map and how do you create one”. Then, where do you store the maps you have created. Same with the other maps. How do you create...what they do...and where do you keep them on your computer. Basic stuff...start at the beginning. One more thing. How do you post a video on Chief Talk without posting to YouTube? Thanks for doing a great video. Very eye opening.
  7. lower wall shows for me...make sure your settings for "pony wall" are correct.
  8. Yes...I completely agree with you. That’s the way to do it.
  9. You could...try putting it right to the intersection of the two walls. You will get a piece of glass return. It’s just not accurate. Your example is perfect if the opening is off the corner.
  10. Did a quick video how to make this railing for you...hope it helps.
  11. You might try downloading one the Chief Architect sample plans...such as the "Lake Point" or the "Grandview". Look at the layout page that is included and find the sections they created...open the view and examine the layer set that they used to create the view. I think they start with the Section View set...copy it, then modify it to show just what they want to see.
  12. All you need to do is "re-frame" your roof...and the section will be correct. You might want to turn on "automatic" roof framing? Here I've built all the framing...roof, walls and floors....and then turned those layers on in the Section View layer set.
  13. Create the section elevation view. Then, copy the associated layer set that is being used for the view. It's probably the layer that is standard out of box (OOB). Rename the new layer set as something else such as " Section View, No Walls"...or whatever you are trying to do. Then edit that layer set and turn on or off the layers you want to see for the view you are trying to create. The answer to what you see is learning how to control and design layer sets.
  14. Good try Eric...but, Chief X whatever still doesn't work well for things like this. The 2D plan view is not what I would want...and the corner with the glass return showing is not what I would want if there isn't a door in the opening. If there was a door...well, possibly.
  15. I have to disagree with Dermot. I wish he were correct...but the software just doesn't work the way he thinks it does. Watch my video...which I did in X11 for insights. Maybe I've goofed...if I have please tell me what I can do to make the software do what I want it to do. I'm not saying I'm some kind of expert...truly.
  16. Well...I disagree just a little. Unfortunately a wall cap...applied via the half wall Dbx does not extend at the end of the wall...just along the sides. Using a specific wall type with needed layers is fine but the ends of this type of wall definition usually won’t finish with tile. I’m not at my computer to confirm this...but this is what I recall and why I went with the single wall layer of tile.
  17. Larry...thanks. Both videos helped me understand this new feature better.
  18. I hate to say this...but, I am not understanding the ref set management/display dialog. Can one of you guru's do a video that shows how/why this is used. I understand ref sets (like we have in X10)...but, not sure I have a clue about this multiple ref set thing. Can you set it up so you can reference (by hitting F9) both a basement level and the 2nd floor? How do you do this? I also just don't understand the dialogue box for the ref sets...so, any basic level video would really be helpful. Thanks!
  19. I think it’s fairly obvious that the answer is NO.
  20. I used the Section/Elevation Cameral to get the front view of the house. You can then change the "rendering technique". You can assign a "cool" and "warm" color...I used gray and white. This is the front view in "standard" view. Color is on. The cad masks change the colors...but the masks don't work too well with this type of view...maybe if I changed the intensity of the fill it would look better. This is the front view in "Technical Illustration" view. (see settings on pic below...). The Cad masks give the elevation some depth. The trees are just cad polylines with gray fill. This pic has the settings for the technical illustration view above...
  21. Attached is an elevation view set to "Technical Illustration". I shaded the elevation with a couple of CAD MASKS with white fill. So...it's possible with some effort.
  22. Yea...no "open tread" fix yet. This is unfortunate. Must be more difficult than we think. Still...I'm happy that they achieved some stair improvement.
  23. I am very impressed. Fantastic upgrade....Chief programmers have been working OT.
  24. Prosper? Maybe...if there is any work. The entire process discourages people from doing anything to improve their homes. Who's going to add a room if the total cost for that room exceeds the value of the home when the work is completed. How can people get lending institutions to loan them money...is there really any equity? We've been down this path before...remember 2008? California is one crazy place...but, the weather is sure nice.
