  1. Exactly... @Kbird1 - Mick (and Chief) suggest creating a foundation wall that includes the airspace/stud/drywall etc. I thought in the past that when you did this the stud wall would actually extend down to the footing...which would not be good. However, just doing a quick test it looks like the stud wall will stop at the floor. So...maybe this is the way to go.
  2. Rob - I think the reason for "furred" wall types is that it eliminates a room behind the wall. I think... You can assign any wall type as "furred"...I also have a unique wall type for these situations...but, you can use a standard interior-4 as a furred wall if you choose. I've attached a couple of screen shots from the X12 Manual on furred walls.
  3. It's tricky that's for sure. Sometimes I just don't select furred...and things fix themselves. Below are pics showing how things change depending on wall types...
  4. You need to change the "text" layer in your annotation set...or default set. My example below is using a saved plan view...but, the defaults are tied to the annotation set listed at the top. So...modify the layer that "text" is placed on. (not Rich Text).
  5. I’ve done a few videos on dormers - check out my YouTube page.
  6. Made you a quick video...hope it helps.
  7. Real quick how to video....
  8. If you post your plan you will get the answer you need.
  9. Style Pallets work well - not sure it’s always the way to go. I made this video on SP...
  10. You should be able to move the windows into position just by adjusting the height...see the attached pics. I create a quick 2-story plan. Made the 2nd floor open below. Placed a group of windows on the first floor....copied them...placed the same group up on the second floor. Then...opened the DBX and adjusted the height of both groups until I had just a little gap between each. I could have made them touch if I wanted to...
  11. You need to post an example plan if possible. That said, you might try balloon framing the wall and then adjust the height/placement of each window group. Either raise the lower window group up to meet the upper group...or lower the upper group to meet the lower group. Or change the size/height of either. But...just guessing without a plan.
  12. Excellent Tip/Trick...whatever works to get the job done! Thanks!
  13. You cannot turn of the "panel" layer as it is part of the railing "WALL" layer. You could change the screen material to glass...but even then in Vector View it will not be transparent. Even painting the screen "open no material" you won't see through the material in Vector View.
  14. I made this “balcony” video recently...it’s doesn’t directly answer your issues but you might pick up a tip or two...
  15. Just post your plan and one of the many experts here on the forum will help you.
  16. I did this video on dormers a while ago but it might help you...dormers can be tricky.
  17. Open the dialogue box for each railing wall...go to the structure tab...at the bottom of this tab make sure you check "Bearing Wall" and "Create Wall/Footing Below". Then build your foundation...the software will create a foundation wall and footing under the railing walls. If you always want a foundation under your railing walls...which is probably unlikely...you should open defaults, go to "walls" and open "railing walls"...and check these boxes. This way each time you draw a railing wall you will always get a foundation. I would suggest you don't do change the default...more than likely you will only need a foundation wall under your railings occasionally.
  18. See attached...not sure I'm doing what you want but the doors shown are 96" tall...your symbol was 80". (4) different stretch zone scenarios... I actually don't think you need a vertical stretch zone...or, just one in the upper tall panel. I would think the "lock rail" would not move? Just guessing...
  19. That was it...I had placed two schedule. Thanks @robdyck
  20. I'm working on a new template...so, possibly I am sharing the same note schedule. I'll check that...thank you!
  21. Can someone either point me to the answer in the manual...or tell me why my NOTES callout has two numbers. See attached picture. I'm sure it's something simple...but, I give up.
  22. Thanks...yea, over 60 has some advantages...but they are few...and some disappear with each additional year. Arggggg.... I'm ok without a fill...or a light fill on the final set...but, during design I like to color-code my walls so I can see at a glance what I'm doing. Just a preference...to each his own. Chief let's each user to choose their personal style.
  23. Glad to help...and yes, Chief Talk and the experts on this Forum is how I learned. Hope you subscribe to my channel...lots of videos.
  24. I used your plan to make a training video...hope you don't mind. Check it out...
