  1. Thank you so much Tea Time and Michael-Gai. Haven't had a chance to get back to this one, But your suggestions worked perfectly.
  2. oops, Sorry. Forgot to add the file. this one has data in it I'll give your solution a try. Thank you. Chief Architect X13 Windows 10 Pro Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-1650 v4 @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz Parkroy Concept 1.zip
  3. I've had this problem a couple times before but I seem to have been able to figure it out. Now I can't seem to get it fixed without detaching the deck from the wall and making it free standing. Simply, when I attach the deck my siding changes to some default and I can't get it back to my custom options, color, and siding type. Any thoughts? 4. Thank you very much rgardner, and Alaskan_son. Lots to consider from everyone. I like the idea to use solid blocks. I'll give it a try. I'm a newbie, so I think this design is above my pay grade, but I love a challenge, and we'll see if it makes sense to do in the end. appreciate everyone's input.
  5. Third time is a charm, I hope SHIPPING CONTAINER HOME 1 (2).zip
  6. Sorry about that, I'll try the file again. Thanks for all the input. I've done some research on the logistics of a container home in our area, but still have a lot of research to do. My clients have also put a fair amount of time doing research. Hopefully we come up with something realistic, or bail on the idea. Thanks John_Charles for all the details. Gives me a great perspective I can share with my clients. SHIPPING CONTAINER HOME 1.zip
  7. Hey Experienced Users, I'm using X12, I'll add a picture and my file to be sure I don't waste anyone's time. I'm a Remodel Contractor, and Design Company. Using this tool to bring in the green I have a client that wants to build a home from shipping containers, so here we go. I started building a generic container to start my design. I'm trying to develop a shell with the framing and interior wall stuff already in place. Thought is, at that point I can start stacking, and placing containers, then go in and make openings, and do all the cool stuff. Problem: my ceiling/roof is higher than my wall. 3 hours later I need help.SHIPPING CONTAINER HOME 1.plan Thanks all, Mark I&C Construction
  8. That helped. Thank you very much. I have a nice materials list now.
  9. Fairly new user so I'm using X12. I'm a deck builder/re-modeler and designing my first big deck project using Chief Architect. I added the dimensions of the house so I could attach the deck, adjusted the terrain, everything looks pretty good, so now I want a materials list. But I can't seem to get it dialed in to just the deck. I've added a couple screen shots, and an image of the design. As you can see there are two decks I'd like to generate materials list from to give to my lumberyard sales guy. I tried selecting the deck area from the 1st floor view, no only handrail, but now structural, framing, or decking. I tried to select the deck from the 0 floor view, but couldn't do it with out selecting terrain, exiting patio, driveway.... Any help would be great. I could do a take off manually, but paying a lot for the software, and hoping it would do it form me. Thank you
  10. I've been working for 2 days to try to build this roof over the garage. I think the problem is that the garage is offset, but I'm a brand new user, so not sure what the issue is. I tried auto build, it was very messed up. I tried the build roof plane tool, could get that to work either. I watched many videos, and still not able to build this wall. I just need to duplicate this home to create a landscape design, new patios, and outdoor kitchen, but stuck on this roof. Any help working through this would be appreciated.
