  1. Bill...I was thinking last night that one difference between what I did and what you stated in your original post was that you had opened and "older" plan...and things did not work. In my example video I was using a new plan created in X12...and then imported my default sets, layer sets and saved plan views into the new X12 plan. That might make a difference....not sure really.
  2. Bill...did a video for you. Not sure I covered exactly what you are having difficulty with. If not...maybe you can expound a bit. Hope it helps...
  3. I'm just guessing...but, if you import an annoset, you may have to go to your plan views and make sure the specific "anno/default" set is specified in the plan view dialog. See picture below. Changing plan views changes my anno/default sets...unless I have a plan view that does not have a specific anno/default set specified (which I don't).
  4. If you turn off the "walls, foundation" layer in the "3D framing layer set"...you will see the framing. Of course you lose the foundation wall. Maybe someone can chime in with a better solution.
  5. I did a video...did things a bit different from Eric to get to the same result. Maybe you will pick up a few ideas. Hope it helps.
  6. Joe Carrick posted this method on Chief Talk....here is a link to the post;
  7. Well...I think you can get it to work. Not sure if this process creates other problems...but, give it a try and see what you think. OK...so the one caveat is that this method changes the ceiling height of the room...so, may not be a good solution. Step 1: Take a "Wall Elevation" Cameral view Step 2: Click on the Wall Step 3: Hit "TAB"...the selection nodes change to "small nodes" Step 4: Drag this camera view "box" upward to reveal the entire wall. See pics below; Step 1: Step 2: Step 3: Step 4:
  8. I have a MAC...I’ve never had to do what you describe. Weird.
  9. For anyone wondering...pics below are from the help file.
  10. Yea...just did. I know...should have done before posting. So...the the software looks at all the images in the schedule and adjusts each to a "relative" size. Do I have this correct?
  11. If you click "Scale Images"...what scale is the program using? Is this something defined by the user?
  12. Is there a way to control the size of the 2D object in any Schedule? Where does chief pull this picture from exactly? The screen clip below comes from one of Chief's Sample Gallery plans...the Bachelor Plan.
  13. I have a YouTube page (see link in my signature)...and some other Chief Experts have created YouTube pages/videos. You might watch some of these to get a feel for Chief. DSHall has posted hundreds of videos on YT. Chief is an incredible program...you will not be disappointed.
  14. You are skipping an important step. After saving the molding to your library you need to use either a molding line or molding poly line tool...open the dialogue box for the molding line and on the “moldings” tab...add the molding you just created (it’s in your library) to the molding line. then take a camera view...from this view you can then create a symbol.

    railing

actually, Eric is right. Just place a doorway into the railing wall and size it how you need to space the posts. 3-4 clicks and - DONE.

    railing

After you break the railing...select the center section and reverse it. This will keep it from re-joining the other rails. You could also just change its “wall type” and that would also keep it from re-joining.
  17. Quick video showing how you can simply use moldings to create a custom Range Hood. Experienced users can pass on this...but, if you don't realize how moldings can be used to create just about any "shape"...then this video is for you. Hope it helps!
  18. Just create new “room” types. Such as: Kitchen-1, Kitchen-2, Kitchen-3... assign different molding and flooring in each type...then just rename the room to switch styles. ooops...I didn’t see you wanted to change layouts. My solution won’t help you. You could use “plan views” and draw the plan variations off to the side of your main plan...that’s all I can think of at the moment.
  19. Make sure “invisible walls” layer is turned on in your elevation view layerset.
  20. This is created when you are using "Dormers". Check out my (2) dormer videos on YouTube...one or both may help you out. Dormers can be tricky...Good luck!
  21. I don’t think that’s it...the baseboard is showing.
  22. Excellent video and explanation Michael.
